Two of one of the most biggest villians in mtg and who would win. The phyrexians are a plague of abominations that can infect almost any thing and appeared in the mirrodin block. The eldrazi is all about conquering and taking and feeding off of mana like the phyrexians they have caused major havoc and they were introduced in the zendikar block. Who would win the injectors or the destroyers but to me the phyrexians would win. My reason they can corrupt almost any thing even machines. So who do you think would win phyrexians or eldrazi the ones that can destroy plains while the other can conquer plains.
I'm new to magic lore but even I know phyrexia was introduced before mirrodin lol
I'd have to go with the eldrazi on this one. They're basically the equivalent of the lovecraftian gods in the magic multiverse, and, well, you don't mess with cthulu.
"If fetch lands are reprinted I really believe they will be in allied colors (aka Onslaught fetches). If the fetch lands are reprinted you better believe that we'll all be fetching up basics. This would lead me to believe that the set after THS may have a reprint as the temples can't be fetched but it's pure speculation." - posted 03/22/2014 proved correct during Khans spoiler season.
"The set releases for fall 2015 (Blood, Sweat and Tears) and fall 2016 (Lock, Stock and Barrel). One or both of those 2 blocks (I'm betting) are going to contain either Fetch reprints or (more likely) Filter reprints. Filter lands still need a reprint. They are getting pretty high up there and it's been longer than ZEN so it makes a little more sense that Filter lands would see print earlier that fetches." - posted 03/22/2014 proved incorrect about filters coming earlier than fetches, still pending on filters in Origins block.
I've heard a great analogy from someone else here comparing the two with getting hit by a train and terminal cancer. The former will definitely lead to a quicker death, but the latter involves a pernicious onset to a long road of true agony.
Card strength eldr's have great power but phyr's have more set giving greater options. Story-wise, phyr win if its both at there prime. but post mending edlr. phyr were in control of sliver at one point. They could not be killed by the most powerful planeswalker ever and nearly killed him multiple times. they also built planes (ex. Rath)
Who would win? A narrative concept used to build a powerful villainous faction, or THE EXACT SAME CONCEPT, only with Lovecraftian horror instead of sci-fi horror?
I really don't see how phyrexian stands up to emrakul. Not everyone on new phyrexia is undead - meaning they are mentally susectible to her influence. I'm sure the more robust phrexians like gin gitaxis, core augur could keep stable - but she would divide phyrexia and they would have to wage a war among themselves if she can corrupt them.
If they're undead similar to the vampires of innistrad then they may could repel her physical form. I dunno if they're incorruptible.
If she just hangs out in space and soul sucks the plane then it's GG. Lots of eldrazi support.
If the phyrexians return to the height of there power or if they can corrupt the Titans then phyrexia. I'm not super sure about the specifics but I know at the height of physicians power it required like a gatewatch of old walkers. A bunch of powerful magical artifacts. And years of planning and preparation. And things like time travel. And that didn't even manage to completely destroy them.
After Ulamog and Kozilek deaths need to rethink the position of this. Lovecraftian gods killed by 5 neowalkers really diminishes the Eldrazi's threat level. Hell they were in prison by 3 oldwalkers before. God the story in Zendikar as so stupid

Anyway, I'm going to say Eldrazi, simply because I don't think the oil could corrupt the titans, as they don't truly have a physical form.
Depends if Phyresis is capable of corrupting the physical bodies of Eldrazi, then the Phyrexians would win.
Uh, ok.

Imagine what would happen if the Slivers managed to "learn" from either of those two.

Sliver creatures you control have Annihilator 1.
Compleated Sliver
Sliver creatures you control have Infect.
Tell me that either of those (regardless of P/T or mana cost) isn't bring-my-brown-pants terrifying.
