Oh well, there are 2 sides to every story. I don't know what happened exactly - But I hope at least one site will provide us with the newest cards and bestest rumours...
It's a default "closed" message. I didn't write it - the bulletin board puts that message up by default. Finally, if you think it is entirely the adminstration's fault the R_E & Jeff quit, think again. You wanna know the plain truth of it, here it is: R_E & Jeff made demands of the site that required money - a LOT of money. Now, I checked my backyard yesterday, and still no money tree. You guys can say or think what you want of this site, but the god's honest truth is it runs at a loss. That's right - a loss. That means it spends more than it makes. Now, when your finances have you spending more than you're making, and things come into the budget that are just expensive, you can't necessarily do them. They demanded forum upgrades and improvements. Those take money. We did not have a competent, reliable (stress reliable) programmer who was willing to do these for free. That's more money. I will not go into every single detail, but needless to say, if the money isn't there, it isn't there. I know this and understand it. You guys wanna know my salary from Raa? I'll tell you - I don't have a problem with that. Ready? $0. Nothing. Nada. Nil. Not a damn red cent. Why? I knew the site wasn't making money and I wanted to try to help. Elf & Jeff though, wanted compensation. So we compensated them. More money gone. Funny enough, it seemed the more money we gave them, the less work they did and the more they griped about what went wrong. if you guys could only see some of the threads sitting in the "admin only" section of the forums. They liked to blackmail us. Do this or else. Finally, we had no choice. They threatened resignation once more, and we finally told them if they wanted to leave to just do it. From an admistrative standpoint, we can not stand back and allow some of the workers into bullying us. We know there are a LOT of very competent people out there who would kill to be in their position. Now we'll find out who they are. Their positions will be filled, but we're going to find people who understand that situation the site is in, and is willing to work within that current situation rather than be a perpetual thorn in the side. Don't get me wrong, I have no problems with suggestions and people talking about things that might cost money, but I need someone to understand when we tell them we can't do it right now. We do listen - we're just not always able to act. I hope this clarifies things a bit more. I'm sure I will continue to get flamers on this and I'm sure there will be a plethora of people who simply do not belive me. I can only tell you the truth - what you make of it is up to you.

Really, MTGnews has gone down the drain. If you dont like what they are doing, youre gone. It has become a regime for the money making of Raa, and I doubt SS gets pay $0.
Whadda' know, just not ONE but both came! And of course, they both posted. Uh, R_E is like, a global mod, and already has 40+ posts, he's here to stay I say.
Well, I don't think News will die. Most people will follow blindly, so... I don't think this site will replace news. It will however compete with 'News as long as there are people willing to do it.
haha, did he really write "lower admins" ? wtf. without r_e and the oldschool mods mtgnews wouldn't have served the function that most of the people I knew went there for...spoilers etc. it was the best site for it and now i imagine this site will be.
It might. I, for one, plan on posting here, and I was never a regular mtgnews poster. I assume with the amount of publicity this site has been getting recently that there are others like me out there.
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
I say no. Because first, Mtgnews has alot shorter name than Mtgsalvation. And Salvation is alot harder to spell than News. As I have many times goofed on spelling Salvatino
Secondly..... well... actually thats about it.
I'm 100% sure it won't...
Salvation being created didn't destroy 'News, it just made two forums that are only half as good as the old 'News before the split.
Besides, although I love Salvation, I also love 'News for pure nostalgia and hope it won't be replaced (although I'm sure it won't...that's pretty obvious...)

All depends on the people. Personally, when I look at MTGNews, I found very few known names there. Anytime I look at the current active members, Salvation is beating News 3:1
(Right now: Total/Members/Guests = 70/23/47 for News, 110/82/28 for us.)
I am both forums' poster, and because I joined these forums in the initial hours of creation (70th member overall, I think), I have a special relationship to these new forums.
I voted Yes, but it is not exactly true.
The thing is whether we are speaking of replacement as the destruction of 'News or simply pushing them back to the second position.
I hope that the majority of all you perfect people from News make a NEW home here. The purpose of this page is not to wipe News from the web, they are a huge piece of history of us all, but I hope that this page becomes the MTG forums Nr.1 (well, I think that now it is, at least concerning Rumors and fresh info, so I hope that it lasts for a long time, maybe forever), just as 'News once were. I hope that R_E will continue his work here. If that lasts, this site will be the leader.

The forums were founded in August. Look at Xenfire's join date.

Oh, sorry....I have not noticed this. I feel a bit stupid . By the sentence, I wanted to say: I came here just a few hours after the New Year crisis broke. Or in other words, in the initial hours of creation of a new community.
I'm pretty sure considering the traffic comparison of both places and a number of other things that Salvation is doing a pretty good job of putting 'News in a number two position (or three... or four...)
Yeah... Go to News and check the "Who's Online" box, and then do the same here... You'll see why I think News is number 2 to us, and has been for a few weeks.

Plus, its run by more friendly people I know, and well, good friends with. Numen rocks, R_E... no comment.
Even if Mtgnews comes back, I hope this site will stay alive and go amount of members/posters, etc.
Good luck for the future.
