I sez yeah. MTGNews has been slowly declining, evensince before DG resigned. Once the boards have fallen, their will be a massive exodus of people going to other sites-This, Misetings, Brainburst, Magicthegathering.com, etc. However, as th's forums are essentially a duplicate of MTGNews, many will be drawn to it out of sheer familiarity.
I don't know about it myself. I enjoy having what of you all that I have around here so far, either way I feel like I have some of the better ones hehe.

Added in the pole for you, Dementia Blader. Also, welcome to Salvation (you're right paranoid, that does sound good hahaha)
I vote nah. Even if mtgnews does go bust, I predict that there'll be 30-odd shelters, and many members who were just there for the colo, or rumors Salvation wouldn't be able to get, would just go away.
This may end up being a successful board on its own, but I think that most newsers would pick something more successfully publicized (not that this couldn't be, of course )
Eh, it's difficult to say. There are other sites out there. This is assuming that mtgnews is going away which I don't think is going to happen any time soon (unless something drastic happens). It's a possibility though.

I think it really depends on us. We need to be over at 'news recruiting people for these forums left and right. The users there are ready for a change and MTG Salvation is ready to be that change for them.
I think a plan of action is needed. I personally am going back to the forums and PMing a few mtgnews members who I know for a fact have yet to register here. I suggest you all do the same.

This member has been found guilty of ripping a number of users on MTGSalvation. As a result he has been banned on this site and all his positive feedback has been removed. The MTGSalvation Staff wants to strongly encourage you NOT to trade with this member ever again in whatever situation might come up.

Now that something drastic has happened there is a very good chance that this could become the new mtgnews. Also, about the thirty odd shelters someone mentioned, luckily there are not. There seems to be nowhere else to go. Now if only we could convince R_E to supply us with rumors. Unfortunatly he may be the deciding factor.
Now, it depends on what happens next. If Raa closes the site before you can get sufficient publicity, then probably not. If r_e ends up going back afterall, then probably not also. Really, it depends on Raa's reacton to all this.

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
They're trying to put the blame on R_E and the ex-mods now.
Hey everyone!
Well, 2004 has come and gone and it's been a fantastic year! I predict that 2005 will be better than ever for everyone here at mtgnews.
So what's happened? Well, the T-shirts have been finalized and will be on the site for sale in a matter of weeks.
Once again, mtgnews was your #1 source of information for everything Magic.
So where are we going? Well, that's up to you. Allow me to explain.
As of today, some of the lower admins decided to up and quit. Now they would have you believe it was because of some vast conspiracy and how we neglected them and didn't do anything to support them. I guarentee each and every one of you that nothing could be father from the truth. I do not want to go greatly into details, but I will summarize:
Some of the other admins were informed that their job was not being performed the way it's supposed to be. Suggestions were given to those admins on how they could perform their duties better. Rather than work as a team, those admins decided to up and quit. A rather childish way to handle things, but how they wanted to. That's fine.
Their loss is your gain.
Yep, that's right. You want to be a mtgnews admin? Guess what - we're gonna run a contest to find out who the new admins will be. This time, rather than pander to the "old guard" - that same "old guard" who just up and tried to screw over mtgnews and all it's readers, we're going to open it to ANYONE.
Here is the only restriction - you had to have an account prior to 12/31/04. If your account was created in '04 or earlier, you're eligible. Details to come on how this will work. If you've ever wanted to be a part of the most dominant force in magic on the internet, here is your chance!
Have a great '05 guys - this will be the best year ever for us!
Scott
Honestly, if anyone believes that, they should be shot.
We have a host site now, in Urza's Bathroom. I'll be making an announcment about that pretty soon.
I don't think so. Even though R_e left, it will take quite some time. However, this would all instantly change if he decided to post rumors here.[/code]

I don't understand the purpose of gimmick accounts.
In my opinion, I think it will be dependant on where would R_E's sources (or R_E himself) provide their information on the new cards. If R_E and/or the other Mods decide to join here, i think Salvation can replace News. Some of us (there's me at least) join these forums for the juicy rumors, or not?

I think it depends entirely on what happens over at 'News. If R_E continues posting rumors there, I think 'News will continue. If 'News gets worse than it is now, I think people will leave it and go in search of other, and better, forums.
mtgnews will still exist, but most of the people that have been around there and know about the situation wll leave from pure disgust of its current state :disgust4: People will keep joining and evetually there'll be a new community in 'news. This will probably be my new home.
EDIT: Uhh....where's the poll? Sorry.
Bottom line is this: as long as R_E remains at MTGnews, nobody will leave it completely.
But you never know. Better to be safe than sorry.

Personally I don't think MTGnews will dissappear any time soon.
Hewo wittle fishy!
Well, it may not disappear, but I think its going to head on a pretty fast downward spiral :wierd2:

No arguments there...
Still, I don't think this site will become a replacement for 'news until 'news is wiped off the web.
Hewo wittle fishy!
Rather, it is an entity of its own that will hopefully one day become known around the web... :smile01:
