I'm putting together a defensive enchantment deck (list below) that uses 'rattlesnakes' to ward off creature based damage (the predominant strategy in my playgroup). The deck is designed for 'all-on-all' games.
The idea is to set up an early defence with cards like maze of ith, soul snare and propaganda, until I can setup one of the following enchantment locks:
The deck includes 4 copies of sterling grove for protection, as well as 2 copies of karmic justice to discourage mass removal, and 2 copies of replenish for a back up plan. The remainder of the spells are essentially utilities and silver bullets.
The game plan is to setup several enchantment locks, wait for everyone else to kill themselves, and then hopefully the last player will just scoop. If this fails then a single copy of shivan gorge is included, or I can just wait until they deck themselves (abundance and elixor of immortality prevent this happening to me.)
I am considering including copies of lilting refrain so I can actually prevent mass removal from happening rather than just discourage it, but they seem slow and cumbersome and only really worth it if you include 4 copies. Would I be better off with just a couple copies of good ol' counterspell instead?
Any other constructive criticism would be appreciated also.
