So I've found some mtg cards with black borders with a copyright date of 1994 on it. Trying to figure out what edition these are from, since everything I've read says that betas don't have a copyright date. Any ideas?
Can you provide a scan of the card? I assume the card isn't in English since you are right that Beta cards don't have a date on them. And if it isn't in English, it isn't Beta. It is probably a FBB Revised edition card.
Are they the HarperPrism book promo cards? Arena and Sewers of Estark had 1994 copyrights on them.
There are a number of English sets with the 1994 copyright. The Dark, Legends and Fallen Empires. However, like the book promos, these all have an expansion symbol barring any misprint.
This why it's important to scan the actual card(s) in question. The collective knowledge of the forum can quickly identify legitimate cards and their set off of the scan.
Ok here are two samples of the cards. let me know what you think. if they are the English sets are they worth anything? Please excuse the light fade, that's just a bi-product of the scan.
Looks like SavannahLion was spot on: these aren't Beta. They have the expansion symbol of Fallen Empires (for the Zealot) and The Dark (for the Veenom). Unfortunately, not much from FE is worth anything. More from The Dark is but the two you scanned are not.
Ok great thanks so much for the help. What is the best resource to figure out the value of these? I also have a bunch of 3rd edition cards as well. Need to move them but want to make sure I get reasonable value for it.
