Basically what kind of Magic the Gathering player do you identify as? I have a hunch what will show up in the poll but lets see from the few that post here what format is paramount.
Please vote for one only.
If you vote Other, please post and specify what the format is.

Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)

Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
I probably should have added Draft but please vote Other and then specify. Also if you do specify Cube Draft, Standard Draft, etc. One of the reasons I didn't include it in the above formats was because of this but please feel free to share.
I could have also included Alchemy, Historic, and others but again, just specify and I can tabulate.
CaptainMarcia please use the Other choice unless I can change the voting choices.

I know a lot of Magic players that play many formats. Just having to choose one feels a bit reductionist. Especially without understanding what this data is supposed to flesh out. Having to choose one is not truly representing how many people play.
I have a casual multiplayer group that meets on average once a week. Two thirds of our games are just free for all, the other third Commander.
I also belong to an Old School 93/94 group online and play tournaments with them as well as OS EDH.
So kitchen table would be my answer, but that only encapsulates about half my play time.
I've also played a lot of Modern at one point, and will play Legacy whenever the chance presents itself.
The formats I play vary, and are not some "Magic identity" that I possess.
I'll vote "kitchen table", but that is by no means how I identify my Magic persona.

You pick the PRIMARY format you play. 1st and foremost. 1st one that pops into your head. It is not about identity it is about what format you play the most. I just put that in there to help people make a decision to vote. You are a definite "other".
I don't have a primary format anymore, so I picked "other" because 40-card formats are my favorite.
Thank you for specifying.

Thanks all for voting and responding so far. Curious as to where the board leans when it comes to primary format of play. Keep them coming please.

I primarily build and play decks for EDH but I enjoy following Pauper and drawing inspiration from it. If there was a local scene for Pauper that would probably be my primary format.
I voted for EDH Commander since I have the most decks currently built for that format (22 with a few more under construction), and I tend to optimize and foil out those decks with higher priority than other formats. For 60-card formats, I have the most modern decks built (8), half of which aren't really competitive. Never officially played pioneer but I have a few decks ready for whenever I decide to. Deep down I still love legacy and vintage, but nobody I know still plays, so I don't keep a deck ready for either. As for standard, I used to enjoy it during certain eras/blocks, but I vibed out in recent years due to the pandemic. However, in my heart of hearts, I still enjoy limited formats the most (sealed deck, followed by cube, followed by booster draft) because I love prerelease events, limited experiences are always unique, deck building becomes more improvised and creative, and I find games are most enjoyable when on even footing with opponents, whereas constructed formats often tend to favor whoever has deeper pockets.
Again just want to thank all for voting and please keep them coming if you have not done so yet. Much appreciated.

I'm the Casual mod but voted for EDH because it's hard to find people that play casual.
I feel that EDH took a lot of the crowd that used to play 60 card casual. Several of the people that used to play EDH on Saturdays at my LGS before covid used to play 60 card casual but they didn't play that as much
Again just wanted to thank all for voting. More votes would be great but I think I am seeing a trend.

I'm not surprised there's a trend of commander being the most popular format too, it's been driving sales for a while. I'm surprised kitchen table is so high, as I thought commander had mostly replaced casual play.
For people who voted other, how do you play magic?

Kitchen Table player, I play with a lot of casual people who don’t particularly care for Commander. Commander games drag on compared to 60 card multiplayer.
Conversely I meet a lot of Commander players that are somehow suspicious of 60 card multiplayer. It’s seen as not being “a real format”, which in all honesty it isn’t. It’s a play style that crosses formats. Another aspect of Commander players eschewing 60 card formats is that they see 60 card Magic as competitive and Commander as casual fun.

If casual players would only follow the B&R list for Vintage or Legacy, I bet it wouldn't be a problem. Saying your deck is casual isn't an excuse to have 4 Sol Rings in your deck.

In every casual circle I've played in the rule is, "your deck must be legal in at least one format(usually Vintage), unless we're playing Un-cards". I found when discussing casual with those players that are suspicious of it, that when I bring up the Vintage B&R they then all think we're playing Vintage decks. At that point they then are completely closed off to further discussion.
I for one don't want to see 4 Sol Rings or 4 Demonic Tutors in a deck.
