Forested Peak comes into play with 2 depletion counters on it. Forested Peak cannot have additional depletion counters placed on it. When the last depletion counter is removed from Forested Peak, exile it. When Forested Peak leaves play exile it.
Remove a depletion counter, Tap: Add R or G
What do you think? Please be sure to mention which format or formats you think it would be too strong for out of the formats listed above.

Any land that gets destroyed after X-uses is basically only playable in decks that dont want to use it that many times anyway, so its automatically terrible in control decks or any stax-like deck.
Right now we got plenty of actual really good lands, but the absolute killer is comes into play tapped.
Any land mechanic that gets around that is pretty good already.
Well yes they'd be broken, because if they are lands and have those basic land types, they can innately tap for those colors of mana. So there's no reason to activate the depletion counter ability, they are just dual lands with pointless extra text.
Jetmir's Garden's text box only has "this enters the battlefield tapped" and "Cycling 3" printed on it, the rest is just reminder text.

Which format or formats are you referring to? This proposed land does NOT come into play tapped. I see you make reference to Stax decks so I am going to assume you mean Legacy?
This is basically a 2 use dual land. Designed more for Standard and Pioneer. Lots of crappy tap lands in Standard and Shocklands rotate out of standard all the time.

The counters can be removed when the land is tapped for mana then OR it could state "Whenever this land becomes tapped, remove a depletion counter." The whole point is to print a two use dual land that comes into play UN tapped. The text is not pointless at all, get real. It would definitely need to be rewritten and worked on.
So my question still has not been answered or at a minimum partially answered.
Vintage: No one would play them, period.
Legacy: Maybe some fringe aggro play?
Modern: Same a Legacy?
Pioneer: ???
Standard: Would see moderate play in certain decks while Shocklands are out of rotation???
This is a dual land geared towards Standard and Pioneer. And possibly to some extent Commander as well. True duals are NEVER going to be reprinted, they are reserved list. This could be a way around it in Standard, Pioneer and Modern(to a small extent). Too many lands come into play tapped or have too many checks to come into play untapped in Standard and Pioneer. These would be a guaranteed dual land, able to tap instantly but basically a disposable, 2 use dual.

Not broken in any way. And the whole "mountain forests can inherently tap for both colors without removing a counter" thing can be solved by wording it "when CARDNAME becomes tapped for mana, remove a depletion counter."
A fine cycle for standard and every format. Make it uncommon and call it a day. Gemstone Mine isn't fetchable, but is a good marker to set these by.
Gemstone Mine didn't cause problems in either of its runs through Standard.
I had that thought myself and was at least partially inspired by that card. Appreciate the comment.

Yes the wording and mechanic could be cleaned up for sure. I was even thinking that dropping it down to uncommon would be a possibility as well. As you say being fetchable (unlike Mine) would possibly make it a rare. Thanks for the input.
Back to my reasoning for these: Tapped lands suck, they flat out suck. WotC uses all these checks and penalties on dual and multi color producing lands and in certain situations some lands are just going to come into play tapped. These lands would fix that issue with the that penalty now being a 2 use card. (With my above restrictions so it couldn't be abused.) There are even times when Shocklands can't be played. Teetering at 1 or 2 life late game, need that last mana to cast your big bomb, game ender or recovery spell and you top deck a Shockland. Can't play it. Again, this fixes that.

I would love this to get another printing just so I could get more foils.
I already include a copy in most 3+ color Commander decks, and doubt it would cause problems in Pioneer.
I'm not sure how I feel about the OP's land suggestion.
A non-fetchable vivid crag cycle at rare with no basic land types which enters untapped would be much more appropriate

I forgot to ask this of you earlier so I'm not sure I will get a response.
Would you make this land I proposed just a Land and drop the basic land types then? And if you did putting it at Uncommon then? Just curious.

What if my proposal was for a tri-land? 3 basic land types and 3 depletion counters with all else being the same as described above?
Thoughts?
Edit: Let me change that a bit. 3 basic land types with ONE depletion counter and all the other stipulations described above. Would this be a Rare or a Mythic then?
