I am hoping this list can be referred to and added to (or have subtracted if a mistake is made), as well as notated on (by me or an admin) when a card is released w/ said name. Hoping that even of a year or more goes by between comments that this thread isn't closed down due to a "necro" post.
Now as I mention the names, I do not know if the names refer to a character, a location, or an object. Any help would be appreciated as I have not yet read any of the Magic novels. Sometimes names/locations/objects only appear in flavor text, so if there's something to add, please let me know in the comments. I will do my best to periodically check the comments & add any info others give. Apologize ahead of time if it takes some time to respond & add, as there may be brief or long periods of time in which I do not see a response.
I'd like to mention each proper noun that looks like a name of a region, but I think it may not be worth it having a generic region as a land. Guessing that specific locations (like Tombs, holy grounds, towers, libraries, caverns, etc... are better off as legendary lands). But if anyone wants them added, a separate list cane be made (on that note, if I have region/location listed, please let me know & I (might) make a separate list.
Here's a break down (quite simple, really) of how I will be listing found information: Name, card found on, set first appeared.
Here's the beginning of the list (might come back & forth to this & not do it all in 1 sitting):
{FIRST SITTING: ABU to Mirage}
Dingus ------ Dingus Egg & Dingus Staff ----- ABU & Weatherlight
Chatzuk ---- Helm of Chatzuk ---------------- ABU
Jayemdae -- Jayemdae Tome ----------------- ABU
Obsianus -- Obsianus Golem ----------------- ABU
Scryb ------- Scryb Sprites --------------------- ABU
Shanodin -- Shanodin Dryads ---------------- ABU
Jalum ------ Jalum Tome ----------------------- Antiquities
Aisling ----- Aisling Leprechaun -------------- Legends
Niall ------- Niall Silvain ----------------------- The Dark (note here, "Silvain" can also be a proper noun)
Istvan ----- Uncle Istvan ---------------------- The Dark (who else think's the crazy Uncle needs to be legendary w/ his own story?)
Delif ------- Delif's Cube ---------------------- Fallen Empires
Zelyon ---- Zelyon Sword --------------------- Fallen Empires
Quoz ------ Amulet of Quoz ------------------ Ice Age
Anaba ----- Anaba Ancestor ----------------- Homelands
Gustha ---- Gustha's Scepter ---------------- Alliances
Teeka ----- Teeka's Dragon ------------------- Mirage
Partner, Banding
Prevent all non-combat damage to Chatzuk while attacking or blocking.
Whenever an opponent's Commander attacks another opponent, Chatzuk may band with that creature, if he does, you assign combat damage this attack phase. At the end of combat, untap Chatzuk.
Flavor text: "When Orggs swing treefolk at your head, wearing a normal helm isn't even a band-aid solution"
----------------
Could lands count?
A dual-faced Legendary land called: "Aku, City of Hidden Graves / Aku, City of Lost Kings" would be amazing (from pillar tombs of Aku, Aku djinn)
Functionally, perhaps it could enter the battlefield tapped on both sides and have some combination of cabal coffers and volrath's stronghold (or unholy grotto if even a DFC legendary land entering tapped would break the spirit of the RL)
There’s a couple funny reference legends that would make a cool niche appearance, like Kakra, the Sea Troll (kudos to whoever finds that), but there are thousands of those types of cards.
For actual misses you’d need Drafna from Drafna’s Restoration in the antiquities block, mostly due to the college of Lat-Nam; and you flubbed on Feroz, from Feroz’s Ban of course .
I guess for the next few you’d need Gix (not counting the vanguard) and a couple of the OG urza saga walkers. Those guys would slap as new cards, especially Gix with the new phyrexian creature type.
The only ones you list I think you could be certain of are Chatzuk, Delif, Teeka and Gustha. All of those have an 's signifying they belong to a person. As you state the others are probably places, peoples or objects.
Obsianus is a known mispelling of Obsidianus. The Golem is made of obsidian.
Dingus is an actual English word meaning "used to refer to something one cannot or does not wish to name specifically."
Scryb seems to be a people's or tribal name. Read the card Scryb Sprite, they are referred to as "the Scryb". Could be named after someone of course)
Shanodin is a Forest. (Although it could be named after someone again) Read the flavor text of the original Shanodin Dryads
I like your line of thought though, very interesting.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Still waiting for Ashnod as a Legendary Creature though we know Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro's going to be lazy with her design by having the same abilities as you guessed it Ashnod's Altar. Look what they did to Nevinyrral in Commander Legends.

When am I going to get my Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar legend card of the Underworld Cookbook fame from Granite Gargoyle? Magic's first Legendary Demon...Chef? Can't wait to see them fit that name on a card. If they could, it would probably have to be a suspend card with no mana cost like Ancestral Vision.

Apparently there has been a Modern Horizons 2 leak, and it seems that Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar will be getting a card!
With no mana cost, as rumor has it, it has a Madness cost however.
Ebon Praetor doesn’t feel legendary to me. The Fallen is just a name for a specific variety of zombie.
Cannot Urza and Dr. Frankenstein make more than a single robot or golem?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Not really what OP asked for but I think mtg should make new versions of the old Legends like Sivitri Scarzam and Tobias Andrion that had no abilities. They are part of Mtg's actual history (cards we played), but are too bad to be used these days.

The answer is when Modern Horizons 2 releases. That's when. I was so close and yet so far from calling the mana cost and casting requirement.

Kakra, sea troll, mentioned on four cards in Homelands.
And I also would love to see the author of the Underworld cookbook in card form!
And the cookbook itself a Legendary artifact.
