Maybe instead of Replicate, we use the thaumabroom combo in that spot? With Cerulean drake as both the sacrifice trigger and a way to counter the Clear the Mind and some aura like Kenrith's Transmutation as the repeatable constellation trigger?
I think the aura needs to remove abilities or it can just be put on the drake and get reshuffled too easily?
Wait, would this even be an improvement? Rather than X^2 copies of Quasiduplicate making up the layer, we can make something like 3^^X copies? That seems like it would just get outclassed and notation-ally swallowed by the stage combo.
Yeah, this is looking like another dead end...
Anyway, new page so let's recap with a decklist and the current state of the main combo,
Turn 1-3 play the first 10 cards in order. The specific lands only matter for the various layer extensions.
Then after some secondary setup which is TBD based on whatever layers we use, we have a lot of U and as much G as we could ever need.
Start by casting Vivien's Invocation to find Maraleaf Pixie and Spark double as the second pixie.
They have haste thanks to Rhythm of the wild. Tap them for UU. (+2)
Cast collision to kill the two tapped mana making fliers.
Cast Devious cover-up on the excess copies of the green spells. (+0)
Let the first one resolve and shuffle the creatures in.
Respond with Quasiduplicate on Frilled mystic to counter the two spells. (-2)
Let another copy resolve to get a Scholar of the ages to return the spells back to hand.
We are now in the same position we started in but with 2 less U and a bunch of copies of Devious cover-up under a bunch of copies of Quasiduplicate on the stack.
Repeating this process until we run out of U gives X alternating layers of Quasiduplicate and Devious Cover-Up.
It doesn't look like a problem to go off on turn 3 on the play, rather than turn 3 on the draw. The former should be considered "faster" in terms of the optimal deck, I think.
Yeah I intended to go off turn 3 on the play, emergency powers with no cards left and put Bolas's Citadel into play.
Scampering scorcher gives the Leafkin druids haste so we can make enough green. Though I realize now that enough Leylines should work just as well.
Having maraleaf pixie being the dork restricts what lands we can play on turn 1 and 2 to being a land that makes green and a land that makes blue. Also we need a land to make white for Emergency powers and another source for Dance of the Mance. This is probably not a problem with guild-gates and shocks, but is something to consider.
Oof, I was assembling the deck based on the Truefire Captain version, but then I noticed that we won't have the red mana to cast Role Reversal, nor can we afford to spend life at that point. So, it looks like it's back to one of the Heliod's Intervention decks.
Edit: Dammit. If we try to use white mana late, for Heliod's Intervention, then we can't have any white mana lands, since they can be untapped by Kiora Bests the Sea God. But we need white mana to get started, so I don't think we can get started by turn 3 if we don't have white mana lands. And we can't have red mana late, because we need it for Role Reversal. So either we use black mana late, or go back to The Akroan War. I'll see what I can salvage from this.
I don't suppose there are any cards that get us white mana just once, and can't be untapped for more?
Edit: So, the best chain that we had using The Akroan War got us to about 3 -> 3 -> (3 -> 3 -> (3 -> 3 -> 54 -> 13) -> 13)-> 13. But, perhaps we can stick with the Kiora Bests the Sea God deck, if we can get started without Emergency Powers? Just cast Bolas's Citadel directly. We won't have as many cards, but we can at least cast cards from the library with our life. I think it's worth investigating.
Hmm, We need an unfortunate amount of white to get started from there.
We are at 16 after Bolas's Citadel and need to get to 6WU to cast Dance of the manse on at least TYS and Leyline, (7WU if we want to get the saga early too.)
There are a few problems right at the start: Our TYS count is 0 right now, we have no floating mana, we only have 2 cards in hand, and the key enchantments arent in the graveyard to be animated.
I had been using Merfolk Secretkeeper as the cheapest way to get the enchantments in the yard, conveniently we can aethergust TYS and Leyline to the top in response, However with Smothering Tithe as our only source of white I don't see how to get it in the yard without some sort of natrualize effect.
Stating at 16 we can play Smothering tithe+happily ever after to gain that key intitial W at the cost of 2 life
From 14 we spend 7 to play Rhythm of the Wild and Spark Double as a Pixie to get to 2WU
From 7 spend 3 more to On alert the pixie and get to 4WUU
spend 2 mana and 2 life to play Aethergust from hand on the pixie to send it to the top and replay it, getting to 6WU exactly.
Spend the last floating life point to Merfolk Secretkeeper mill TYS?
Looking through, I just noticed a problem Vivien's Invocation lets us kill donated Martyrs which our opponent can use to proliferate onto our saga.
Fortunately Hatchery Spider might be a suitable replacement?
Hmmm yes - I guess we can have two Hatchery Spiders, and use Adventurous Impulse to bring them to our hand. Then we can cast and counter both. But, we would need four creatures in our graveyard to cast Spark Double as well. Perhaps another two cheap green creatures, like Leafkin Druid, that we can cast and counter.
Edit: Oh whoops, Spark Double is not a green card! So actually, it is easier: Just add one more Maraleaf Pixie.
We can easily have the legends in the GY to have enough undergrowth to get the pixies. I think Incubation conflicts with Soul Salvage in the current deck.
A second pixie gives us 2 more life / mana to play with now that we don't have to spend 4 on spark double, If we play Venture Deeper from hand to mill TYS, Leyline, KBtSG, and Tithe. We are nearly ready to go off then.
Oh right. Hmmm, so how do we get Hatchery Spider into our hand so that we can cast it?
Edit: Oh, we can use Vivien's Arkbow instead. We can animate Vivien's Arkbow using either Dance of the Manse or Bring to Life from Animating Faerie. We can then have Spark Double come as a copy of it. Animate Spark Double, use Quasiduplicate to make a copy of it, then animate the copy. We can then copy the animated token as many times as we please. So that should work fine, I think.
That seems like a real pain to setup like that with animating it 3 times but does work. Animating Faerie is a problem because of the treasure tokens from Smothering Tithe.
It would probably be easier to be able to fetch Vivien's Arkbow from the library or graveyard, but I don't really see anything suitable. Emry, Lurker of the Loch looked like it had promise, but any copies that we make of it won't naturally have haste, and to retrieve it from the library seems to require the use of a Vivien's Arkbow that we are trying to retrieve. So, I don't see how to make that work.
Edit: Hmm, there is a problem with the life-to-creature destruction part of the chain: Gideon's Sacrifice is white, but we have neither the white mana nor the life to cast it at that point. But, we can go back to Deafening Clarion, which seems fine.
Ooh, nice catch. Fortunately, we were switching out of Vilis anyway, so that change fixes the Smothering Tithe problem as well. I believe Vilis was the only other card that allowed us to draw?
We are bound to have extra card slots, and they will probably go to things like extra Smothering Tithes and Happily Ever Afters, so we won't necessarily need to destroy them. Anyway, we will keep both configurations in mind.
Edit: Hmm, looking at Deafening Clarion again, the layer we get for killing a bunch of copies of Martyr for the Cause doesn't stack with the layer for Teysa Karlov. So we lose a layer, down to about 3 -> 3 -> 53 -> 13.
Starting with 3 leylines we get Bolas's citadel into play with U floating, 16 life, and 1 card in hand on turn 3.
7 life goes to making the early white, via Smothering tithe + Happily ever after UW floating, 14 life, 2 cards in hand,
Cast Rhythm of the wild for 3 more and the second pixie to go down to 9 life + 3UUW
Cast Aethergust for 2 life and then 2 more to replay the pixie 7UUW and 5 life
Cast Venture Deeper from hand and one form the top to and mill TYS, Happily ever after #2, Smothering tithe #2, Leyline of Abundance#4, Leyline of Anticipation, Arkbow and Kiora Bests the Sea God.
Now we can Dance and in response to the ETB triggers we can go down to 1 to Quasiduplicate and start to build up enough to go off.
We are still missing a few of the creatures and spells, but it seems like we can get there.
Is there some way we can put maybe three Smothering Tithes into play before the first [c}Happily Ever After[/c], so that we have to white mana left over for a casting of Heliod's Intervention? We can always add extra cards to help out.
So, I had an idea for an extension:
-We can sacrifice 10 permanents, including Clockwork Servant. (In this chain, this would be the only way of destroying Clockwork Servant.)
-We cast Clockwork Servant using 3 green mana, with a lot of Yaroks on the battlefield, triggering a bunch of card draws.
-With each card draw, we draw a lifeland.
-We put the lifeland into play with many Yaroks on the battlefield, triggering many 1 life gains.
-For each life gain, we gain a lot of life, thanks to Angel of Vitality.
-We spend some life to cast Wanderer's Strike from the library, getting many copies and many proliferates.
This would get us back up to 14 layers. But, that card draw runs into the problem with Smothering Tithe again. Still, using Wanderer's Strike to get proliferates is an interesting option - it loses a layer versus Deafening Clarion and Martyr for the Cause, but it frees up creature damage I guess.
I was wondering if there might be a way to use that donated Smothering Tithe thing, and get at least one layer in between opponent draw and our own draw. But, I don't see a way to do that right now.
Life is the limiting resource early, so investing 8 more life for WW does not seem to be a fruitful exchange at that point, I couldn't even fit an Angel of Vitality in my line, and that pays for itself pretty quickly.
We will have 2 (or more?) in play for the second Happily ever after.
With Karn turning off our opponent's treasures, maybe donating Smothering tithes can work? Otherwise they'd just sac them for no value to prevent us from getting them.
Castle Locthwain looks like a good replacement for two of the shocklands (we could replace Maraleaf Pixie with Leafkin Druid in the opening) - except for the draw, which runs into problems with donated Smothering Tithes again. Phooey.
Do we have a way to reshuffle the opponent's graveyard into their library? Otherwise, without Emergency Powers, we will only be able to use Happily Ever After 51 times, rather than 53.
Good point about saccing the treasures, and yeah Karn seems to fix that. Still don't know how to take advantage of that possibility, though.
Well depending on what we Quasiduplicate after that big Dance of the Mance in my line, we could have as many as 7. But we'd basically immediately need to spend most of the treasures to not dead end.
If there is a better opening then we can use that, and besides, it is too early to get too into optimizing it because new printings can shake things up a lot. My goal was more just to prove it is possible to go off with only the cards we have.
Fair enough, we'll be optimizing later anyway - still, I couldn't help putting some work into it, so I got this:
In the current deck, there seems to be no problem with playing a lifeland on turn 1, so we can start with 17 life.
Start with 4 Leylines, have 17 life, GU floating, 0 cards in had after Bolas's Citadel.
Spend 7 life to cast a Smothering Tithe and Happily Ever After, 15 life, GUW floating, 1 card in hand.
Spend 2 to cast Claim the Firstborn twice, 13 life, 9UUUW floating, 1 card.
Spend 3 to cast Venture Deeper three times, 10 life, 9UUUW floating, 1 card.
Mill 4 TYS, 3 Smothering Tithe, Happily Ever After, Leyline of Anticipation, Vivien's Arkbow, Kiora Bests the Sea God, and one other card.
Spend 9UUUW to bring the first 11 cards onto the battlefield.
Respond to Happily Ever After ETB trigger by casting Quasiduplicate. We get 25 copies, creating 25 more TYSes. 7 life, no cards or mana.
Respond again be casting a second Quasiduplicate. We get 204 copies, creating 204 more TYses, 233 total.
Respond again by casting a third Quasiduplicate. We get 1865 copies, creating 1865 more Smothering Tithes, 1869 total.
Resolve the Happily Ever After trigger. Wind up with 1869 mana, 6 life, 1 card.
Spend 3 life to cast Rhythm of the Wild, 3 life.
Spend 2 life to cast Maraleaf Pixie, 1869W, GGGGU, 1 life, 1 card.
Cast Heliod's Intervention for X = 6: gain 12 * 2098 = 25,176 life. 1866W, 25,177 life, 0 cards in hand.
Well that looks much better with Claim the firstborn which I think might conflict with something? (What was On alert from Silverflame Squire targeting?) Also, we do need to be able to make copies of the green leyline to fuel the stage combo with enough mana for Vivien's arkbow.
Edit:
Actually we don't need to pump much excess green into the stage combo anymore? We only need 2+2 for Arkbow activations, 2 for Devious cover-up 1 for Quasiduplicate, and 2 for Collision? and we make 8 from the leylines? so we are only -1?
Edit2: no, we need an x=4 arkbow now as we need to hit Spark Double.

Casting Bolas's citadel directly requires 3 black lands, but fewer Leylines so we might be able to use that.
As for limited white sources I don't see much, we can get white for planeswalkers with interplanar beacon, or for knights with Tournament grounds.
Urban Utopia is difficult to recycle but it is not an "enchant land you control" so it will just stay on the land as we untap it.
