I would like to ask you for your advice. With my friends we played commanders and we didnt know how to handle this situation:
After playing a phenomen wich took many cards to battle field, we had to handle the triggering of many cards entering the battle field at once. Particulary three cards:
- A creature with entering effect: destoy a permanent.
- another creature (called X) which was target of the previous effect
- an enchantment which had an effect for entering batlefield: choose a creature type (chosen was vampire, the ceeature X was vampire). This card has also ability for 2 mana: give a creature indestructibility.
Now the question is can the ability be used to protect the creature X or the effect of entering battlefield will trigger first and the first creature will kill creature X ?
Please just use card tags so we know what each card is. The tags will tell us the text which will offer a more accurate answer.
In general, if multiple triggers are trying to go onto the stack at the same time, they are put onto the stack in Active Player/Non Active Player order. Then, for each player who controls more than one of those triggers, they put their own triggers on the stack in the order they choose. Though, it seems there is only 1 trigger in your situation.
So, to try to summarize the situation:
A Ravenouis Chupacabra, a Grizzly Bears, and a Kindred Boon. All 3 enter at the same time. Player A is the Active Player and controls the Chupacabra. Player controls the other 2 cards. Player B chooses "Bear" for the creature type for the Boon. They do this prior to knowing what the trigger from Chupacabra will target.
So, the Chupacabra player targets the Bear (knowing that the Boon is choosing "Bear"). With that trigger on the stack, priority is passed to all players. When Player B gets priority, they can activate the Boon to put a Divinity counter on the Bear. Another round of priority is passed.
When the Boon ability resolves, the Bear now has a counter. Another round of priority is passed. If no one does anything, the Chupacabra triggers resolves, tries to destroy the Bear, and fails since it is indestructible.
So, first this should be in the rulings forum not the general forum.
I'm going to assume the cards you are talking about are Angel of Despair, Elenda, the Dusk Rose, and Kindred Boon. Your scenario is that all of these cards entered the battlefield under different players control at the same time, through the effect of Warp World or some such. The simple answer is: Yes, you can use the ability to save the creature.
When multiple cards enter that battlefield at the same time and each trigger abilities, the abilities are stacked in Active Player Non-Active Player order. Under such circumstances the player whose turn it is would order their triggers however they want and then choose targets and modes as they place them on the stack, anything put onto the battlefield at the same time is a valid target. Then the other players in turn order would do the same. Then once all the abilities are on the stack with their modes and targets chosen each player would be able to respond with abilities or spells. However that isn't your problem.
All of these cards enter at the same time.
So the first step to resolving this mess is that the controller of Kindred Boon chooses a creature type. This is a replacement effect so the creature type is chosen before the cards actually enter the battlefield. Vampire was Chosen.
Next, a target is chosen for Angel of Despair so the ability can go on the stack. Elenda, the Dusk Rose was chosen as the target. Angel's ability is now on the stack.
In response to the ability the controller of Boon chooses to activate its ability to give Elendra a Divinity counter making her indestructible.
No one has any response to this ability so it resolves.
There is no further response to the Angel's ability so it resolves, but doesn't do anything as its target is now indestructible.
Now the stack is empty and normal play may resume.
Oki, next time i will mention the cards next time, sorry I just couldnt remember the names
Thanks to both of you guys!
Basicaly the cards are as user_93 above me mentioned. For me its hard to grasp the idea that you can actually play the ability of Kindred boon, before the effect of Angel of despair will come in action.
Because as I see it, The entering effect should be processed first and once the card is on the table, you are able to play its ability no?
I think i understand the theory of stack quite well, but this case looks a bit different to me.
No. The way the stack works is that things go onto the stack and then players get to respond. It really isn't any different if the Angel player simply cast the Angel. They would do that, it would resolve, and then its trigger goes onto the stack. With the trigger on the stack, players can respond and cast spells or activate abilities. Your situation doesn't change anything about the way the stack works. And, if it helps make things more clear, basically everything (except mana abilities and very few exceptions) uses the stack which means they can be responded to prior to resolving.

Thanks a lot, its quite confusing for us
