I'm just curious if anyone else feels the current generation of fat pack boxes are better quality than the generation that came circa 2013-2015. They all seem to have the interior done differently and a lot of them come with these neat little dice insert box thingies that I end up using as dividers.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...

The change in design has to do with the fact that a current generation of "fat pack" boxes technically no longer exists. "Bundles" as they're now called contain ten packs instead of nine. Logically, the box would have to be made slightly larger and/or shaped differently on the inside. Personally, I'm indifferent about the boxes and have no preference, though I'm not particularly fond of the slanted cut on the Amonkhet bundle box tops (which I only bought for more full-art lands, which is generally the only reason I'll ever buy said product). However, when Fate Reforge wasn't/stopped selling at msrp (for obvious reasons) and fat packs went on sale at a local store, the price was cheap enough to justify purchasing a few since I was almost guaranteed to open at least one Ugin or khans fetchland among the nine packs which (unless it was a windswept health) paid for the fat pack itself.
They are called bundle boxes today. And nah, they hardly improved since Lorwyn/Morningtide (imo). The material the boxes are made got a bit thicker but they have almost the same durability. But I preffer the material that the art was printed in old boxes, it got a texture that i appreciate. As for Innistrad-RTR ye, they improved alot, RTR fatpack boxes are cheap and easily gets damaged.
Yeah now that you mention it, the Innistrad boxes I have are probably the most sturdy. I bought a bunch of Ixalan ones on discount a while back and got some rivals ones as well. I did check ebay for the older boxes and it looks like they are luxury items today, so I'm probably going to have to stick to the M19 ones.

Some of the old ones are starting to go for crazy money. Any time my LGS gets some in I buy them for 2-4 bucks each, and that is happening less and less than in years past.
Frankly, WotC could reprint and sell the boxes alone from the old sets and make some coin if they wanted to.

I have ones from the Ravnica/Coldsnap era and a bunch from the present day. They don't seem radically different in quality, IMO. They are much better than the Pokemon ones, which have a lip on the inside that can catch and bend cards if you are careless.
I have fallen out of buying bundles because I find them to be too expensive relative to what they offer. 10 packs and a box for 545 bucks is really steep, considering I can buy a box of whole box Magic's latest set (and get the latest buy-a-box promo) for a 100 bucks and then spend 5 to 10 dollars on a box that can store 5,000 cards. The box that stores 5,000 cards could easily last me multiple sets, diluting its cost even more.
