So it looks like WoTC is going to sell a "Mythic Edition" box directly online at the Hasbro Toy website as the only way to get new, Masterpiece rarity, full frame Planeswalkers. The price tag is $249.99 (not including shipping or taxes). Just a few inquiries to everyone out there:
Are you planning on buying these? Why?
What are your thoughts about them offering this produce directly to consumers only?
How many do you think they will have? Specifically will these be as rare (or more rare) than masterpieces from Kaladesh and other previous sets?
I'm not a huge fan of borderless alters. As an extension of that, I'm not a fan of these borderless cards (nor the borderless basics from Unstable). I also only have one deck with Teferi, Hero of Dominaria while I have several decks with Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, and I'm not running the others in anything (granted, Ral and the not-yet-spoiled 'walker haven't been released yet, so they might find their way into one or more decks). Further, my explicitly blinged-out deck with 42 expeditions/masterpieces/invocations doesn't have any planeswalkers, either in my maindeck or my maybeboard. Unless the to-be-spoiled card is amazing for my bling deck, I have no intention of buying any of these, and I certainly won't be buying the whole set.
Do I like it? Yeah. This seems like a fair way for WotC to earn bank and yet not punish the masses with "must have" cards.
Do I love it? Honestly, no. I think the price is too high for what they are offering. I would have liked some extras, like an art book, or a few statues/models/toys, maybe some limited edition play mats or sleeves. I don't know, anything to help make that 250 dollar price tag not hurt as much.
This will sell out instantly and it will likely be a reoccurring thing from now on, like the Buy-a-Box promos.
Note: WizKids is releasing a product with Ravnica D&D minis this November. 44 minis in total, sold in randomized sets of 4 (1 large/huge creature, 3 medium/small creatures, $16). The guildmasters are included, although the Niv Mizzet mini is a "premium" one, and you're required to order a case (equivalent to a MtG booster box) in order to get the opportunity to order Niv Mizzet for $50. There's also two $25 "starter sets" that each contain five specific minis, one from each of the ten guilds between the two of them.

That's awesome. Sad that Niv is so expensive, dang!
The mythic edition is a rather odd bird with the market. I'd say if someone buys from an LGS for 120 a box plus promos and had to make a decision between that and getting the mythic edition, it's absolutely no contest that the mythic edition wins. However, considering I've seen booster boxes as low as 78.50 on flash sales for pre-orders (which is oddly below what a store should be able to purchase these boxes), that really throws a wrench in this plan. When, for the same amount of money, someone could have three regular boxes with the kind of reprints and power cards we are getting on the spoilers right now, that latter choice is the clear winner.
Also, there's a lot to say about the hasbro online store. Hasbro and wizards are both really bad on shipping and the website has been notorious for screw ups with orders and just dying on the spot from heavy traffic. I've had problems with Walmart's online grocery shopping site and nothing I've had happen there has been as bad as Nintendo pre-orders on new mini consoles and Hasbro's store in general.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
All along the way, we're listening to and very appreciative of feedback. For example, our experiment with Mythic Edition resulted in quite a bit of feedback. We were able to address some of that by supplying a limited amount of this product to ChannelFireball Events for sale at Grand Prix between now and the end of 2018, including at events outside the United States and Canada. You can preorder Guilds of Ravnica: Mythic Edition from ChannelFireball for pickup at Grand Prix right now! Head on over to their preorder website for more details.

Yes, if I'm able to get it from the website, great. Otherwise, I'll buy it from eBay if I have to. (I'm part of the problem.) I have a Ravnica Themed Cube. I need it for my cube.
Ideally, this would be distributed like any other product, limited or otherwise. I'm mostly afraid the website will crash. Also, even though I'm from California, it sucks for people from countries which they will not ship. If the regular products are normally available in your country, this should not be an exception.
I think these will be more rare than the other masterpieces.
