Ok, so first and foremost I hope this post is in the right spot. Never poster on here before but I honestly just need to freakin vent. I am absolutely furious when it comes to draft, standard, and limited formats. I am more ok with legacy, modern and vintage and I'll explain more in a second. But why am I mad? Well ooooo boi. So the time is 4:40 and I just got home from the m19 prerelease at my lgs. So I'm posting this tired but I think I still need to say this. I haven't won a single match in my entire MTG carrer of 7 years outside of edh. I might win a game or two but I have never ever won a match. And I mean this with 100% honesty. Been playing for 7 years, and I have never placed in the top 8. I am quite literally the one everyone wants to play in events like this because they know they will 9/10 win. I am a laughing stock of my lgs when it comes to events like this. the only reason I haven't stopped going is because I play alot if edh as it's really the only format that's even fun to me anymore. So now I am hearing everyone say it like I hear every goddamn time I play at a event. Git gud. Play better. Play like you wanna win. I have heard it all. So yeah expecting ALOT of that in the comments so in advance thank you so much you help so much. But yeah for example tonight. I pulled relatively well. Lilly and some other good stuff but nothing to crazy solid to work with. No real support in any color so I kinda had to just msh a abbomination together. Finnaly landed on this blue red thing with a few counters and a lot of dudes that were good for what I had. Game one. Dude gets land flooded and I win by proxy. Game two. I'm flooded. Game three, can't get through the birds. Next match. Get paired against a dude I know and love, literally has an answer for EVERYTHING I do. I keep one thing on board and it's a manalith. Yay. Next game, flood out. So now I'm angry cuz I wasted 25$ to get pull ass and then get my butt handed to me. Final match (staying for round four wasn't worth it) start wtih good three land hand. Draw two good cards, flood. Loss. Next game, dude plays 3 cancels, two essence scatters and 2 return to ash. I damn near threw my cards into the wall. I pulled the new tezzeret as the prize pack and proceeded to rip it in half (no regrets) anyway my point is this IS what happens when I play in any kind of mtg turny. And honestly, it's making me want to quit the game. I know how to deck build. I build people edh decks and brew them standard decks ALL the time so it's not that. I know how to shuffle. I have even had judge's shuffle for me in desperate hopes for a change but alas. I hate it. I want to enjoy prereleases, events the likes. But I just can't. Everytime I got in I go in with the I can do this gonna do fine additude. Got a good deck that wins casual games and practice games, I got this. I leave saltier than a salt flat because I didn't win a SINGLE match. When there are two headed giant turnys, I am all ways the last to get a partner cuz no one wants me on there team (honestly would you?). So all this to say I am a hair away from just quiting the game. I really only play ehd and that too has become a meme. O he won't play he only plays edh. Honestly it's kinda disheartening. But yeah. I don't know what to do anymore. I want to enjoy competitive magic. It's fun to watch, discuss, brew, the works. But when I play. Sigh well. You get the idea. So yeah sorry for the INCREDIBLY long post that's just a rant... Maybe this helps someone else but yeah I really just need to rant.
Bad beets. I'm not much for pre-release/limited either, so I just stick to constructed. I wouldn't necessarily consider it a waste of money, however. Hell, the last 5 pre-releases I've done I didn't even participate it; I just paid for a kit and took it home once FNM was over and it was past midnight.
The first tourney I went to in years back in Eldrich moon standard I actually won with Blue / White Spirits. Spent hours practicing before I went with the deck and was participating on the forums with the other people here brewing the deck up. Unfortunately, I'm god awful at drafting and can't stomach playing sealed as my brain can't seem to wire itself out of seeing a 5 CMC kill spell as bad. I mean, there's Terror, there's Doom Blade, and then there is whatever icy orbital space rock Lich's Caress is currently landed on. Heck, current standard having the removal spells at 4 cmc feels wrong.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Without knowing your exact builds, I’d guess your “style” doesnt translate to sealed. With your edh experience , you know the rules but are probably stumbling with tempo. Sealed can either highly reward Agro or removal if you build a deck right. I even won a mill game last night in blue/red (I’m a terrible blue mage).
Also, if you are stumbling so hard, don’t throw away that fourth round game. Even without prizes, the experience can be a reward against someone not having much more luck than you. Are you able to talk to someone at your LGS about helping tune your deck during prerelease?
The other thing to do is “practic “ sealed taking 6 packs and build with them outside events to get better feel of building.
Getting frustrated is normal, but you need to observe why you have consistent bad results and modify either your play or build style. Going on tilt makes best players struggle.
A bad record is just one reason to quit Limited or constructed, and the other is if the game isn't enjoyable. I find Magic thrilling and fascinating and engaging even when I lose, especially if the game is close. But honestly, it sounds like you're driving yourself crazy, and my advice is to cut your losses and pull out of Limited or constructed or whatever you usually do. It's one thing to be a low-level player who's slowly working on climbing the ranks and having a good time. I've been that player. But what you described is a wall, and you're miserable throwing yourself against it. I'm not the boss of you, but seriously, it sounds like EDH is your best bet. And who in the world is trying to mock your or anyone else for only playing Commander?! It's technically casual, but being a 100-card singleton multiplayer format is hardly tic-tac-toe; it's a lot of work (and totally worth it IMO). Whoever's saying "lol that scrub only plays EDH" needs to rethink things. Man, I bet you'd really feel better if you stick to what you definitely like. Going crazy with bad luck in Limited sounds like a no-win situation.
