The SDCC 2018 promos. Why in the hell did they choose Jace, Cunning Castaway?! It's probably the worst Planeswalker ever printed (even Tibalt seems better than this crappy card).
Not sure if I'm going to buy it when I'm there now. See the details in the link below.
They pretty much always sell for more money later on, as some people will like them regardless of your choice.
I think the artstyle is cool, but the cards they choose are pretty underwhelming, but they are the current planeswalkers, so theres not too muc of a choice (but freaking karn and teferi, rofl omg).

Am I the only one who takes offense that they tried to tie Nissa to Freyalise? This is like comparing Ripley from Alien to Shinji Ikari of Neon Genesis Evangaleon.
Freyalise started as a fire mage. She became a green walker due to being dealt a fatal blow by a green magic user, deciding that green magic is better than red, and when she ascended, nearly went mad in the process. Even as a planeswalker, she had no problem using bombs and other contraptions to reach her goals, making her much less dependent on the one note powers she was granted with her ascension.
Nissa is a racist whiny elf that believes elves are the pinnacle race of the multiverse, got retconned into the zendikar nature hippy fest we have today, and I'm pretty sure hates artifacts and unnatural things as an extension of it. Gods help us because I think they are trying to do yet another one of these one note green walkers with Vivien.
Just about the only pairing I don't have a problem with is Jaya Ballard with Chandra. They both are pragmatic, and while Chandra is a thief and a bit of a one note character, that tends to be reds thing.
Urza with Jace... Urza would have a field day with this one. I don't recall Jace ever blasting someone with his rage ala Urza's Rage.

Kind of ironic when you consider how much trouble they could've saved by bringing back Garruk Wildspeaker as the Green Planeswalker for Core Set 2019 since Nissa Revane already left the Gatewatch in Dominaria.

Garruk is green/black now, Nissa is green/blue? they needed a new mono green walker.

They do and Vivien could have been Frayalise 2.0 if they handled her right. The problem with Wizards of the Coast and Planeswalkers is they tend to just go "here ya go!" with new ones instead of building up to them. She literally has no background except for a blurb about her home plane being destroyed by Bolas. She had no build up or anything, and thus the entire story just falls into this one note category.
They need to slow burn characters and plan ahead for introducing new walkers. Introduce characters on a plane as normal characters first and work from there. If a particular character really resonates with people, than work into the story how she/he can ascend in a later set.

Isn't this what they are doing? Not like she has taken an oath, we just not meeting her and nothing so far says she going to be a main character, it just seems like their lack of making mono-green walkers (and turning the 2 they had multicolored) finally came back to bite them. And since we only have a blurb about her and a few flavor text hard to say she is one note.
I thought I also put this, Nissa doesn't mind artifacts and only dislike herself being in cities since it cuts off her ability to bond with planes (though she likes Kaladesh since its built with nature in mind).

It has nothing to do with the "oath". That is it's own can of worms, actually. The problem is introducing someone as a planeswalker card to begin with. Amonkhet did it right with Samut, but because it happened so fast it didn't really leave the an impact. The feeling someone should have when a character is a planeswalker should be "holy crap, she finally got a card!" not "... so where's Garruk?"
I guess I don't have an issue if she's intended to be yet another body on the corpse wagon of some in universe version of Infinity Wars, but if they want people to care this doesn't feel like the way to do it.

It's bad writing in the same way that the toy industry usually does bad writing. Someone comes up with an action figure and then they hire some person to do a quick cartoon show to promote it. Planeswalkers are now the action figures of WoTC.
