Well every set has a story and sometimes connect them like they have in the last few years. Cards would obviously showcase characters in the story or represent something that happened in the story itself.
My favorite beginner's product has got to be hands down a Deckbuilder's Toolkit. It gives you a stack of random cards and some general pointers and lets you go ham and really explore your creative side. It gives you enough materials to easily make 2 color decks.
These products are at a great price point typically for what you get, and are the quickest jumpstart to any casual collection.
Another option would be the preconstructed "Planeswalker Decks", which are marketed towards players just jumping in and show you how a deck ought to be built.
Gift Boxes come with an exclusive promo card, but the main selling point is that the box is quite large and comes with all kinds of dividers and labels, perfect for the ever-expanding Magic collection.
My personal suggestion out of these would be the Deckbuilder's Toolkit, but any of the three are great purchases and you can feel confident making them.
i think calculating i want a deck that all cards work together. i want to win obviously. what made me like magic is the style and art form of the game. plus the fact that i want to be the greatest planeswalker haha
You sound like you may be a "Jonny Combo Player" style person with a dash of "Spike" thrown in.
I'd suggest staying away from Commander/EDH for the time being until you get some more experience under your belt. Learn to duel, learn to build, learn to win and then if multiplayer interests you, look into Commander.
There is the perfect introductory product out there for you. It is the Challenger Deck. It will let you get your foot in the door into Standard if you wish. You can take it to a FNM event and have some fun and maybe even win a couple of games. Knowing you like to put together the puzzle the Second Sun Control deck may be for you. If you don't like the creature-less aspect of the deck try one of the other 3 available. Hazoret Aggro would be the simplest to learn quickly. Stay away from the Planeswalker decks, they are junk and should only be bought if you want to play casual kitchen table style games. The Hazoret deck actually has a strong walker in it and is worth a decent amount of money at this time. Check them out.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)

its good to learn from your mistakes.but i prefer to learn from the mistakes of others.
Well the scarab god is by far the best card you opened. If you didn't sell it(?), you should definitely use it in a deck. It gets played in standard and it's a great commander for the commander format. It's actually kind of hard to make a BAD scarab god commander deck.
None of the other cards look particularly great. Many of them are fine for draft/sealed, but probably not for constructed competitive play. Although it's hard to tell if you don't link them. Use the cards tags, please!
nah im not seling the scarab god. i think is the best card i got besides the jace card. i just bought 4 more hour of devastation packs. 15 minutes ago. il put the list up in a lil lmk what good came out out of those four packs

The scarab god is waaaaaaaay better than planeswalker deck jace. Planeswalker deck jace isn't particularly good. He's kind of cute in kumena commander/brawl, but he doesn't see any competitive play. Scarab god sees tons of competitive play in standard.
Unless you mean you have jace, the mind sculptor. That version of jace is better than the scarab god (although the scarab god is better in commander).
the jace card i got is jace-ingenious mind mage, it came with the planes walker deck. i know its not as good as the scarab card but i get excited with anything that has to do with jace. im a big fan.

Ha, alright, fair enough. You can play jace as a commander in brawl, if you want to go down that route. although brawl isn't usually played competitively.
so heres what i pulled on the other 4 hour of dev packs. ima try to use the card tags hopefully it works if it dosent sorry still trying to learn this forum stuff.

Although I always try to bring people to the blue side, I think green really fits. The best way to know for sure it to play a bunch of games and to try to focus in on what you like the most.
