Probably an excellent time to push the community backlash button, especially with all the loot box controversy happening at the minute. Let us but full sets of cards without having to gamble on opening packs, that's all I want.
Edit: Talking specifically about MTG Arena, not about the TCG.

This is about Arena specifically compared to how cards are obtained in other digital card games, not TCGs in general. Turning Magic (or any TCG, really) into an LCG is a ridiculous pipedream that would probably require the TCG to first become unprofitable, collapse, be shut down, and have all of its rights sold to another company. The business model is just so different you'd basically have to bring the game back from scratch.

I'm not suggesting making magic a LCG, just that the digital version should be monotised differently. Magic works because there is a secondary market, if I don't want to open packs to get a bulk rare for my casual deck I can probably buy it for less than the pack and the same is true for MTGO tickets.
Making Magic an LCG would be a bad idea, apologies if I didn't make that clear.

That is not a profitable business model.
Isn't it? It seemed like the Duels of the Planeswalkers did well enough to warrant an annual sequel for 5 (?) years, I didn't follow news on it but you gotta be doing something right to get 5 games. You pay up front for the game and buy the expansions you want or if you want cosmetics like foils or sleeves (if you must have extra revenue streams).
It's a profitable business model, just not profitable enough. Hasbro want that Hearthstone money.

I got things to say about WoTC that just are not good for this message board. They have priority issues.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
A LCG would come with all you need in one convenient box, they are also cheaper, like half a normal booster box of mtg cheaper. The secondary market would still exist, people would still buy singles for what they needed. I guess people just want their randomized card containers and stock market charts.
Anyhow back to the actual subject matter. Aside from causing it to spread on social media, one the best things to do is to vote with your wallet by not giving something your patronage. Its a very powerful tool and tells the people providing that service a message.
Well, the problem with arena is that they are filling the packs with the same cards as the paper game. They actually need to cut draft only cards and combine the constructed cards into a single season pack. If they do that and only offer draft packs for limited games it should fix a lot of the issues.

Let's put pressure on WOTC/Hasbro to change their economic model in MTG: Arena to something better than it is.
