You know that product that contained nothing but basic land? The one WOTC gives to tournament organizers so people at events have access to basic land? Instead of just making it available to only tournament organizers, WOTC allowed the public to buy this for $19.99. Sure not a lot of people would buy it, but what do you think of people saying that such a product shouldn't exist just because they already have a ton of basic land?
I'm not sure why they care, though. "I already have enough basic land, therefore WOTC should not make something like the Land Station." ... is one of the silliest (to say the least) complaints I've heard here in a long time. You're not forced to buy this product, nor are they heavily marketing it, or giving you bonus cards or exclusive foils or anything, and the secondary market for basic lands is not really important. This product is purely there to enable first time tournament organizers to run limited, which is a good goal that I'm glad Wizards thought about, and it doesn't really affect anyone outside of that target market.
Also, isn't it already available to the general public? In any case, even if it isn't, making it so still probably won't affect anyone else. (Particularly since buying basics secondhand online is still probably cheaper anyway.)

As for the product in question: no, Wizards absolutely should not be selling Land Stations to the general public. They're a pointless product for players (if you're so new that you don't have basic lands, buy a Deckbuilder's Toolkit/Bundle/eBay basic land lot), so selling them to the public only serves to waste shelf/shipment space that could be used for other product.
Selling them to stores is slightly less absurd, since it's a given that basic lands will disappear whenever you run a limited event. Though tbh, WotC should be giving them to stores as thanks for keeping their business afloat, especially since $20 for 400 lands is a ripoff compared to bulk prices online.
If you just want basic lands, you can get plenty of them with Fat-Packs, more than you will ever need.
And outside of that, there are Full-Art lands and other goodies that are WAY WAY more welcome than the waste of paper they call basic lands.

The real irony for Shops is that WotC used to simply provide a box of basic lands for EVERY PreRelease, so the shop would DROWN in basic lands.
At some point they didnt anymore and it was incredible annoying, only leading to shortages of specific basic land types for draft and other events as you suddenly have to ask your players to RETURN the basic lands, which they used to just take away after playing limited, or leaving with the rest of the garbage cards.
Its simply a terrible business model and for whatever reason they roll with it.

I almost never sleeve my deck and its frustrating swapping land(s) out from the pile you got from the land station for the lands that came from the freshly cracked packs because of noticeable(or OCD noticeable at least) wear.

If you draft more often i might recommend to "pre-sleeve" like 10 basic lands of each color.
That will save you time and you can use the basic lands you like the most.
If WOTC is going to sell lands, it has to be more than just lands.
Here is what I would like to see them do. I would like to see them sell packs of 121 cards, call it an "accessory pack"
-20 each of the 5 basic lands. The land art has to be unique to this product, maybe with a special set symbol just for this. The art must be new, and unique, not a reprint. This art would only be available in this product.
-10 premium lands- Foil versions of the above lands
-10 premium foil tokens of random, commonly used types.
-A special, unique spindown counter or life counter of some type.
-Alternate art, foil, standard legal card rare/mythic that can only be had in these packs.
I bought one of those boxes maybe a year ago, and might buy a new one in not too long. I have a drawer full of decks I've built,and I never dismantle the decks for new builds, so basic lands are something that I always need a lot of. There's no FNM's n such where I live, so buying those boxes online from a norwegian store is always cheaper than buying the lands single.
What were people's thoughts when the M11 Land Station first came out?
