Oh boo just realized copying their creatures will kill them all, so the ending won't be as neat. Is there a card the opponent could start with to stop that?

This doesn't work. Every turn you take to cast Altered Ego means another Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite copy for your opponent. You will always be X+2 copies behind them where X is however many turns it takes you to start an Emrakul loop.
Also you're taking 2 a turn from Purphoros, God of the Forge, not one, so you only have 10 turns at most, assuming they don't just attack for lethal.
What does the original forum think of the lock?
OP paraphrased the rules. You're supposed to start at any life total you want.
"Here’s the scenerio:
I have no hand, no library, 1 life, and all eighteen permanents below at the start of the game.
You have no hand, any amount of starting life you want, and any cards you want in your library in any order you want them. In fact, when you draw a card, you can choose which card you draw from your library. You start with no permanents on the battlefield. There are no miscellaneous cards in this game (planes, schemes, vanguards, conspiracies, commanders, un-cards, etc). I will take turns as normal, but I will take no actions during any turn. I will only use triggered and static abilities. Your job is to win the game against me. But the clock is ticking…"
I'm casting Emrakul every turn including the turns I am casting Altered Ego. Opponent never gets another turn. I can cast both in the same turn, because I'm drawing 2 each turn, because of Skyscribing.

I start infinite. Your move.
Okay...? The point is to win the game.
Why is purphoros on the battlefield if I can set my life total high enough that I essentially have infinite turns?
On topic: how many cards like Faerie Macabre are there, which can be discarded from hand for an effect without being cast or cycled? I'm trying to put together a strat but they're not showing up on the search.

One thing is you can Cast Altered Ego on the Elesh Norn that is making more each turn so you can make a bunch each turn too. You can outpace theirs that way. But yeah missed the 2 damage a turn thing...
If you want me to save you some time, here's a (non-exhaustive) list of effects we have access to:
Infinite turns (but they cannot be stacked up)
Infinite mana
Infinite cards in hand
Infinite copies any creature in play (but never more Elesh Norns than our opponent)
Infinite power/toughness for any of our creatures
Infinite ETB/LTB triggers
Sacrifice Outlet
There are other miscellaneous things we can do (Simian Spirit Guide or forecasting Spirit en-Dal) but none of them help us. As such, I cannot find a way to actually do anything meaningful. I currently believe the game is unwinnable.

The token copies will be 4/7s and die to state-based actions.
Starting at an arbitrarily huge life total, getting infinite toughness on a Sphinx of the Final Word means next turn you can follow up with Apocalypse, then your opponent loses on turn plus three from drawing out of an empty library.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I mean we have infinite p/t of any creature currently in play. AFAIK there is no way to get a different creature into play long enough to make a copy with Altered Ego.
Once all the cards are in hand, play another spell to make them discard and/or burn them out? I mean, nothing on that board stops an uncounterable mass-return-to-hand style board wipe; you're not targetting or destroying or forcing sacrifice. Then they have nothing to stop you from doing anything else.

Yeah, without a way to steal/copy Elesh Norn soon enough, creatures are going to be impossible to get to stick, even if they are uncounterable. I keep finding a ton of "almost" solutions (like "if Gigadrowse said tap or untap target permanent" or "if Eidolon of Rhetoric didn't hose Cascade"), but nothing seems to quite work. Of course it's getting close to 2:30AM here, so I'm gonna call it a night.
Basically, if you can get Platinum off the board you win. Consulate Crackdown will do it, as will all creatures get -X/-X effects and mass exile/bounce. Or if you can resolve Time and Tide during your turn then you can break through the Eidolon and cast all the spells.
The additional rules not contain in the picture:
Their Boardstate is what is depicted in that picture. No hand, no library, no lands.
You start with no cards in hand and none in play. No Leylines, no nothing.
You may have any number of cards in your deck. Any number of copies of a given card in your deck (50+ Copies of Emrakul is A-ok).
You may stack your deck any way you like. You will always draw whatever you want.
Other than these rules, all normal rules of the normal game apply. No Commander variant rules or whatever.
The closest I could get was infinite Turns, Mana, Power on Board and Cards in hand. But I still couldn't actually break the lock and win.
Here is a full list of the cards in the picture if you can't make them out:
Here is my solution.
Draw Island play Island pass turn
Take 1 go to 19
Draw Swamp play Swamp pass turn
Take 1 go to 18
Draw Mountain play Mountain pass turn
Take 1 go to 17
draw Forest play Forest pass turn
Take 1 go to 16
Draw Plains play Plains pass turn
Take 1 go to 15
Draw Island play island pass turn
Take 1 go to 14
Draw Swamp play Swamp pass turn
Take 1 go to 13
Draw Mountain play Mountain pass turn
Take 1 go to 12
draw Forest play Forest pass turn
Take 1 go to 11
Draw Plains play Plains pass turn
Take 1 go to 10
Draw Island play Island pass turn
Take 1 go to 9
Draw Swamp play Swamp pass turn
Take 1 go to 8
Draw Mountain play Mountain pass turn
Take 1 go to 7
draw Forest play Forest pass turn
Take 1 go to 6
Draw Plains play Plains pass turn
Take 1 go to 5
Draw Island play Island pass turn
Take 1 go to 4
Draw Island play Island pass turn
Take 1 go to 3
Draw Skyscibing pass turn
Take 1 go to 2
Forecast Skyscribbing draw Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
Draw Island play Island
Cast Emrakul pass turn
So infinite turns by drawing and casting Emrakul each turn and draw 1 extra card each turn
Draw and play 100 islands
Draw and cast Altered Ego X=96 copying Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite do this step 20 times
Now if you have other creatures in play they won't die from your opponent's Elesh Norns
Draw and cast Vexing Shusher
Draw and cast Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh
Activate Vexing Shusher targeting your spell
Tick up to Nicol Boss's ultimate
Activate Ultimate
Laugh maniacally

You can't cast two spells a turn.
