I am a new player, and first got 2 booster boxes worth of magic cards from my friend. Now that I have a deck worthy of Friday Night Magic, I now have a bunch of cards that I don't need and are quite worthless from the prices I found online. I want to get rid of these cards, but I don't know what. Any suggestions?
some stores buy bulk (at bulk prices) and do repack drafts. or younger players, I won a box not too long ago, opened it there in the stores with some friends, then asked a little kid who hangs out there if she wanted the bulk. She kinda just likes the art and was THRILLED. made my day and at bulk prices, it was like 2 dollars

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
Its a good idea to keep 4 of each card at least, just that you hae a playset if you need it at hand.
To store them, just buy some cheap paper boxes, usually less than a few bucks and write the set name on it.
Does the trick and stores easier than folders.
Expensive cards, you better but in a folder.
----
If you play limited you get lots and lots of cards you dont need after that.
If you store a ton of cards, you can simply sell them online in bulk. Like 10.000 cards for some bucks.
If you simply dont care, they are literally trash.
----
But sometimes a common becomes expensive.
Serum Visions and the like potentially pack a lot of value, even as a common.
So its not a terrible bad idea to keep even old cards around, unless you really dont have any room to store them at all (you can put a lot of cards in a bunch of boxes, can be quite some "fun" like 5 years later to just look if you find something valuable in them, or a card for a random Commander deck you "know" you have in one of the boxes, "somewhere", countless hours spend doing that).

I'd love to think that we may get another Serum Visions someday in the commons, but the designers have been getting far better at judging card power and have been making adjustments to how they make cards. The last really good one that could potentially go up in value over the long term is Thraben inspector due to how useful it is and the fact it makes use of the clue mechanic. I'm kind of wondering if we will get a one drop treasure maker in Ixalan to replace her.

Keep them for proxy/art alter stock. If you and your group ever get into inventing cards, alter g art or need to represent cards you cannot afford they work wonders.

No card is worthless to me. I never know when I may need something. Keeping a play set is a good idea, but sometimes I have multiple decks that require multiple play sets.
If you ever get into using proxies with friends, you can also write the proxies out on paper, then use the crap commons as backing, sliding the piece of paper inside the sleeve in front of the crap card.
Personally i've mostly given them away or sold them in bulk, though i usually try to keep a playset or two of almost everything - but some cards are really obviously not worth keeping.

They just couldn't put 7th edition into Modern because of the card borders? Seriously? Count me out.
It sounds like you don't have very many cards. Just get a cheap card box - they are only a couple bucks. If you stop playing or don't feel like storing them anymore, you can always give them away. Kids love free cards, even junk commons.

Yeah, making a pauper cube sounds like a good idea. Use it to get your friends into Magic, and since the cards are commons you don't have to worry about them being unsleeved.

I'm new to Magic and have a lot of stupid questions. Thanks to everyone in advance who help answer these stupid questions.
i wouuldnt get rid of them if your stock is under 10,000, which is really only a bookshelf if you have a few shoeboxes. you never know when the next rystic tutor/serum/petal is coming 5 years ago....

Or, as others have suggested, use them for art projects.
