Okay, so some of our favorite cards out there have nicknames. Dark Confidant is Bob, Gray Merchant of Asphodel is Gary, and so on... what else can we think up?
Prodigal Sorcerer is called "Tim" (after "Tim the Enchanter" from a Monty Python movie), while Prodigal Pyromancer is called "Tom" (as a variantion of "Tim" mirroring the color shift of PS into red).
W may only be paid with white mana. U may only be paid with blue mana. B may only be paid with black mana. R may only be paid with red mana. G may only be paid with green mana. C may only be paid with colorless mana. 1 may be paid with white, blue, black, red, green, or clolorless mana.
Specifically, the character Nevinyrral (and Nevinyrral's Disk) is an homage to the author Larry Niven, with his name spelled backwards. Larry Niven is largely responsible for the association of "mana" with magic in modern fiction.
Richard Garfield also put a Nevinyrral card in Netrunner.
I think it's worth noting that the vast majority of nicknames are gonna be specific to a certain person/playgroup, so everyone should just keep that in mind. Phrasing like "cardname is nickname" probably doesn't really apply to most of the cards people are bringing up.
Anyway, nicknames I'm aware of:
The SoCal EDH has tended to leave the "ysis" off of "Deep Analysis" when mentioning the card (to a few chuckles, as you might expect).
Other nicknames I've heard or used include "Le Jit" (a la legit) for Umezawa's Jitte, "Sad Sorin" (or just "Sadman") for Sorin, Solemn Visitor, and "No" for basically any counterspell.
Snapcaster Mage is Snappy or Tiago (for basically the same reason as Bob.)
I know it's ostensibly not much different than Bob=Confidant, but people calling Snapcaster "Tiago" has always rubbed me the wrong way. It just seems forced and vaguely pretentious.
It's a like a reverse Dark Confidant (called Bob). Bob gives you the card and makes you lose life. Sin Prodder (Rob) can make you lose the card and make your opponent lose life.
I've always heard Stoneforge Mystic referred to as "Stephanie", I've never heard her called "Misty".
Bob for Dark Confidant is probably the most univerasal I've heard. Tiago for Snapcaster Mage and Mom for Mother of Runes are up there too.
Bubbles, Buttercup and Blossom were pretty common names for Bruna, Sigarda and Gisella respectively, that one hasn't really survived like I hoped it would.
"Pimp" in my experience refers to "Putrid Imp". The only Legacy deck that plays Putrid Imp is also the only one that plays Stinkweed Imp, bit I've never heard Stinkweed referred to as "Stimp". I probably will call it that now.
Sakura-Tribe Elder is almost universally known as "Steve".

A certain artifact is known as "Larry's Disk".
Llanowar Elves are sometimes called "Lawnmower Elves"
Chimney Pimp is self-explanatory.
Onslaught gave us "David Copperfield"...

I'm officially proposing we retire the word "insane" from the MtG vocabulary.
