That someone willingly uses Thought Scour on themselves. The art just doesnt match the effect in those cases, and other mill cards are probably similar. Like Chronic Flooding yourself on purpose to reanimate things? Explain that!
Silence the Believers very clearly exiles leonin (who are, on Theros at least, atheists). Also, I'm not sure exiling auras is in black's pie, but that's more a color pie thing.
Actually, I'm fairy certain that's a Satyr (compared to Satyr Wayfinder and Satyr Firedancer, with Xenagos watching on in the distance as the believers that fuel him with their devotion are massacred - it probably shouldn't exile in terms of flavour, but the implication is that it's meant to extinguish a god. Considering that we've had Sever the Bloodline in the past to represent similar effects (as well as cards like Eradicate), exiling isn't *entirely* outside of Black's comfort zone, just something that it dabbles in rarely to represent the flavour of a card.
The picture isn't a leonin, but the mechanics don't say non-Cat creature.
And the satyrs don't seem very pious either.
How about the fact that Crawlspace doesn't negate flying in any way?

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

When you mention using Thought Scour on yourself, I imagine it could fit in the same flavour as Bond of Agony where the recipient enjoys the self-inflicted pain.
Mantis Rider has some interesting flavor text, which is reflected in zero of the card's abilities. It seems like he should have the Phantasmal Bear text. He should obviously die to a Fleeting Distraction!

These days, some wizards are finding they have a little too much deck left at the end of their $$$.

You can also have (Khans) Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker in dragon form use another Sarkhan (in Planeswalker form) as a weapon. Can be the same card, or one of his previous incarnations - perhaps a good use for Sarkhan the Mad.

No, the text is quite fitting.
Haste = Flee the mantis
Flying = Use of blue mana for a flight spell to escape the mantis, or better adapt to piloting the mantis
Vigilance = Maintaining an awareness of your surroundings, your mantis, and anything that might cause you to fall from the mantis

You know how people drink themselves into oblivion to get rid of bad memories... Yea, some of them would probably use the Thought Scour method to get rid of them for good.
As for Chronic Flooding, well if you think about it, if you flood your area you can get the water to float some corpses to the surface, especially if you're near a tomb. Floods really bring out a lot of stuff from the ground and can open shallow graves.
So we get the enemy colored painlands and not the allied color ones? Well that's reverse of the norm, but I thought Wizards was planning to do full 10 land cycles from now on.
Enemy pains could indicate allied Fetches in the next set, to offset the colour imbalance. It would also make sense since it would allow Modern to have access to all 10 Fetches as opposed to only 5.
Or you could read the article, and now that's not true.
...so you're saying he has haste because he just fell off of his mantis and he's running for his life? Now there's an image.
He has haste because the mantis is fast
He has flying because the mantis Flies
He has vigilance because he must always stay focused lest the mantis eat the rider
He's a blue-aligned Jeskai dude riding a red/white mantis. The mantis flies, the guy is super fast, and the guy needs vigilance so the mantis doesn't eat him.
This thread is hilarious. I really like the Godsend wielding Elspeth and Curiosity on a Sanctuary Cat.
Also, I actually made a thread about the whole thing where the graveyard represents dead bodies and dead ideas (i.e., milling) and yet you can reanimate milled creatures:

There is a problem with the Sarkhan idea though. Once the Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker becomes a planeswalker again, the two Sarkhans will try to kill each other (or just stare at each other until one of them disappears, flavourfully).

Better yet, why can I enchant a Sanctuary Cat with Curiosity without the Cat dying?
After all, I was told that Curiosity was what killed it.
