If you are to indicate a selection of colors with letters, for example in a deck name, is there a "right", "default" or "standard" way to set the letters in order? Should BR decks be called BR or RB? I see BUG decks described as BUG all the time and RUG as RUG, and I guess that's mostly for pronounciation purposes, while WUR is often UWR or WUR. And I see WBR described as BWR, WBR, RBW etc.

When I hit my 3000 post mark, I'm gone for good.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
hyalapterouslemur's post is really good, but "Team America" is actually BUG, not WUR. Team America comes from the Legacy BUG tempo deck. Yes it's a huge misnomer and is quite goofy, but it needs to be addressed for accuracy. "Patriot" is usually accepted for the WUR combination.
I personally can't wait until we have a plane that deals with Wedge colour combinations so we have proper names for them.

Junk decks don't actually follow the original Junk, and Jund neither fits the shard (which focused on sac outlets and death triggers) or the deck (which focused on...Bloodbraid Elf into Blightning or Dark Confidant or Tarmogoyf or Phyrexian Arena or whatever else costs less than three and either generates massive card advantage or finishes the game, depending on format.)
And haven't you learned anything yet? Americans are inherently gaudy.

WotC has pretty detailed patterns for putting mana symbols on cards. Check out the back of a card and you'll see the color circle. Start with white and work your way clockwise for the order.
When you have 2 colors, you list them in clockwise order for both allied and enemy pairs. For example, always comes before and :symb:. and always come before :symw:. This is also true for dual land text box shading and cards with dual color borders.
When you have 3 colors, you go clockwise for consecutive "shard" colors, as in :symw::symu::symb:. When you have a "wedge" color with a non-consecutive color, you list the single color first, followed by the pair in clockwise order, as in :symr::symw::symu:.
As for naming decks, you often see lists with colors out of order. In Standard, we're seeing a lot of deck names like :symw:/:symb: Aggro and :symb:/:symw: Midrange. In cases like this, the decks are named with the dominant color first. There are other reasons for decks to be named out of order as well.

On phasing:
Seriously though, nice list. It somehow didn't dawn on me until now that only the shards didn't have proper names.
But isn't Aristocrats a very specific deck with Falkenrath Aristocrats and Cartel Aristocrats? It seems almost like calling everything mono white Soul Sisters. I've often seen WBR referred to as //gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?name=+[dega">"]Dega.
And Team ___ is just so gaudy.

That's basically the agreed upon usage among players.

On phasing:
It is sometimes used by certain players to refer to the color combination but "BUG" is a much better and more common term.
The term "Junk" also comes from a specific deck, but does seem to have become common as a name for the BGW wedge.
The name I've seen for the RWU wedge is "Patriot" given how commonly those colors are used in flags.
