That Wrath of God makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. A very bittersweet acquisition, I miss Hoover's artwork. I've got a Hymn signed by him that will probably never leave me unless there's a signed Vesuvan Doppelganger involved.

I know it's not a card or deck but to me it's something I've been trying to get my hands on for ages.
Looks nice. I open everything though. I have 4/5 of those and play with them regularly.

I'm not entirely sure if we're allowed to post in this thread if we're not gRR! or Markers, but I thought I might do a recap of some of my highlights in a consolidated shot I took on impulse with some cards that have some nice stories attached to them. I like the stories behind the cards as much as I like the cards themselves, so I'll share a few.
The Ugins were done for me by Raymond Swanland at GP Memphis 2015. He was a very gracious artist that seemed to really appreciate his fans. I also picked up the foil artist proof Ugin from him (9/30). The stuff from Rush was signed last year before he passed. I've been playing since '95 and had only recently managed to finally acquire the Lotus; he signed the toploader I normally keep it in and seemed really happy for me. I met him twice and enjoyed the experience both times, always smiling, always talking to longtime fans, and that makes for a good memory of him. He basically illustrated my childhood and his passing makes all of these cards rather bittersweet. The day I got the Lotus, I was playing at GP Dallas and got paired up against pros for the first time in my playing career, so it also kind of commemorates beating Brian Bran-Duin 2-0. To his credit, I did have a fairly silly sealed deck, and he was a gracious and professional player. My nervousness was visible, but he didn't try to capitalize on it and was friendly but professional throughout the match. I also beat a player from a Japanese? team, he had an unusual name I can't recall, but had been playing on the pro circuit for many years. He was also enjoyable to play against and was helpful in giving me some opinions on my card selections after his defeat.
The Guru island was a gift from a coworker who found out I play Magic and had a bunch of old cards in his attic he hadn't dragged out in years he wanted me to evaluate. When I say years, I mean that he pulled out a binder that was a complete, perfect, NM set of Urza's Saga, and the back page held about 15 Guru lands casually dropped into the sleeves from when he had participated in the Guru program. My jaw dropped as he had no clue these things were worth anything, he just thought they were super cool lands (he wasn't wrong in that regard). He knew I was looking at buying and I knew he was looking at selling, but there was no way I was going to do him dirty and told him right away what he had and what he could get for them. He ended up dropping them on Ebay, all but the Island which he insisted giving me in return for my help in identifying and selling them. He wouldn't accept any payment, and it makes for one of my best stories behind a card.
Lastly the Tabernacle is a card I'd wanted for a while, I picked it up the winter RTR released, saving money and flipping cards to get enough cash/credit I could buy it for a meager $80 when CF had their holiday sale. I needed it because I wanted to build a Grand Arbiter Stax deck and I felt like if the deck was missing it, it would make it dramatically sub-par and annoy me to no end. It's also a weird effect, and an old enough card I didn't want the italian version, as I felt using a foreign language version of the card would be a little on the sleazy side and continually destroying creatures because people would forget the translation of the card. It's also important to be able to distinguish the effect is a destroy, not sacrifice effect, and the foreign language convoluted that. At the time I bought it, it retailed for $380 if I remember right. Anyway, many of the cards I have have some great stories that make them pimp, even if the cards themselves might not be as valuable as these.

Not as nice as Sparki's, but I'm also happy to finally have my signed playset. For the record, I sent my wastelands to get signed, I did not buy them signed. Una is signing again thanks to a guy in England with a lot of artist connections. Check out "Loopycards On-Demand Card Signing" on facebook for more info. =]

I commissioned this burst lightning for my cube a little while back and Pascal Maynard was at GPLA this past weekend, so I met up with him and he signed it for me.
Just picked up the Judge Promo Hannah, Ship's Navigator for my Cube, recently. Finally obtained the textless Damnation promo for my flagship EDH deck, along with some other goodies. Really irked that Wizards is reusing the recent Judge Promo Vindicate promo art and flavor text for Eternal Masters. It took me so long to track one down because I fell in love with this specific version, and now a few months later it's being put in EMA :/
Not pictured are the three foil MM15 Dark Confidants I've picked up (will be completing the set in the next week), because the MM15 foiling process was ass for Black cards and you can barely tell they're even foil.
I love browsing this thread, and it just got so far down that I thought I could share my spoils from GP Minneapolis this weekend. I got to meet Jesper Myrfors and get some of my favorite classic cards signed, and then was able to trade some Modern staples into a few other gems that I had been wanting for awhile.

Must've been a lot of modern cards for those! Nice!
You aren't kidding, I had a deck box full of Modern but then also a few high dollar EDH foils as well. I also have to give credit to one of the vendors I went to that gave me a very fair trade offer for a Beta dual that helped seal it.

soooo jelly! The judge FoWs and ancestral! very very VERY nicely done!
Decided to get some pics of Lazav now that he is almost completely pimped out. Only missing:
Dark Confidant (just been putting this one off, not really sure why)
Demonic Tutor (does Unlimited at least count as semi-pimp?)
Startled Awake (just haven't picked one up yet really)
Toxic Deluge (oh Eternal Masters, you spoil me <3)
Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas (why oh why did you have to spike, I almost bought him not long before that too, and Briclot missing GP Vegas last year really bummed me out)
Other than those 5 cards, everything else is either foil, signed, altered or foreign (or some combination thereof).
Poor SDCC Vryn's Prodigy does not photograph well (he's right next to Lazav).
Love that deck. I'm a burn fan and dig all the shiny.
Only thing cooler would have been textless foil Bolts. And I don't mean the player reward ones. I remember when you would see the accidental Bolts pop up regularly. Sadly that was 15+ years ago. Now they are very hard to track down.

You wouldn't want to get those signed, though. They're worth more untouched. They're also more than a lotus.
Finally doing only my 3rd post ever here (I'm pretty lazy to take pics). Legacy Shardless BUG with 59 of 60 cards foiled (Foil Toxic Deluge coming in the mail now). The SB isn't completely foiled because some cards have changed unfortunately.
Legacy - Sneak Show, BR Reanimator, Miracles, UW Stoneblade
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/ Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander - Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build) (dead format for me)
I guess it only allows 5 pics... I'm so terrible at this. EMA introduced Baleful Strix, Sylvan Library, Hymn to Tourach, and Toxic Deluge foils. There is also the Force of Will foil from EMA, but I don't like the pic. Funnily enough, the Judge Promo pic has grown on my since I see it so often when watching online streams of Legacy. I used to HATE the picture.

This is one of my favourites from that collection:
Thanks man, appreciate it.
Made some more progress recently. Added in foil EMA Toxic Deluge, prerelease foil Startled Awake//Persistent Nightmare (until I can get a foil/prerelease foil Imprisoned in the Moon to replace it), foil MMA15 Dark Confidant and a foil MBS Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas.
At this point literally the only card I have left to foil/pimp out is my Demonic Tutor, and then my years long project will be complete.
