I use hard magnetic plastic's for anything I consider a collection. I get i think 30 for $30. They are rather bulky but will fit inside those multirow cardboard boxes. They have a certain amout of bling when you have a lot of them.
edit: You could always get them framed. I was thinking about doing that with some legacy stuff. My brother's girlfriend works at a place that makes custom frames, I dont think card's would be that hard to do.

Those are nice, but I was wanting to have my collection be more mobile, like in a binder, so I can take it around and show it to people.
I don't think there really is a portable option besides using a binder which you don't want to use. You should build something out of one of those super secret metal briefcases Make smoke come out of it when you open it and have it lines with special lights, ha!
1 binder for all Rares that I'll call "Keep"
1 binder for all rares/promos that i'll call "trade"
1 binder for each color that contains 1-2 playsets of most useable commons/uncommons.
0 boxes of cards or random card piles. I've been aggressive in keeping backstock of junk to a minimum.
I have a 2 row card box for each color that is not standard (type 2)
Each color is alphabetized , abcd....., In each letter section the cards are Alphabetized, all of this is labeled with a note cards, each card name gets its own note card. this makes it very easy to find stuff and only took me about 6 weeks to set up at first keep it up is easy as any new cards are just added when they show up.
My standard stuff is in 5 single row boxes with note cards seperating colors, rares uncommons and commons. trade stuff is in the trade binder, all of witch is type two.
My rares are in 3 binders (standard and extended trade, rares I'm keeping). My uncommons are sorted by set, then alphabetically in 3200 count boxes (I hate the 5000 ct boxes!). My commons are sorted by color...someday I would like to sort these by set too.
I don't have too many cards, have only been playing for a couple of years. I just throw all of my junk commons and uncommons in 3 shoe boxes. Where do you get those white boxes? Sorting them would be nice...
Please share your method on storage and organization
Most of us have a lot of cards
for those of you who just throw all your cards unsorted into 3-4 2 foot long boxes, you dont need to read any further.
is there a better solution for mass card storage besides those corrugated cardboard long boxes?
in regards to organization, do you:
have a box per color, and put in partitions between land/common/uncommon/rare?
or do you have a box per type: land, common, uncommon, rare and put in dividers between color?
or do you have a seperate/different method of storage and organization?
do you go as far as to sort by edition/set as well?

Rares that are unplayable in Vintage/Legacy go in a binder. Cards that are Vintage/Legacy playable go in sleeves in a box, by color. Cards that I use in current decks get put in different sleeves, in a different box, organized by deck.
Shoeboxes! For most everything common/uncommon and not worthy of note, semi-sorted by color. Rares go in a drawer sorted by color. All within arm's reach of my desk.

Yup, I'm online at all hours, I'm an insomniac, what of it?
I keep all my cards in the top drawer of my dresser. I don't really use my dresser, as I'm an unorganized person, and keep my clothes in a laundry basket so...
I have a binder of rares that I'm willing to trade - this only includes ones that I feel are worth taking up binder space -> some rares are just total crap.
Inside the dresser, I have several stacks of cards:
Countermagic Pile
Draw Pile
Utility Pile(such as discard/reanimation/wierd stuff)
Removal Pile
Creature Pile
Artifact Pile
Look to Play Pile
Each of these piles has the 'noncrap cards' in them: I have another section where I just dump all the unplayable stuff I have.
The Look to Play pile consists of cards that, more often then not, end up landing in whatever deck I build, so I put them there for convenience.
Then I have random cards scattered throughout soo...
Yeah :D.

I sort commons/uncommons in alphabetical order by color (WUBRG), sorted further in by set release. They're stored in various boxes. A couple of long boxes, a shoe box for lands, and about 10 booster boxes. Rares are kind of unsorted at this moment and split into 3 binders. 1 binder of deck staples that I won't trade (duals/fetches/important playsets), 1 binder of standard rares, 1 binder of everything else.
I divide them by rarity first, then I divide each rarity by set, older sets first then newer sets.
I usually try and keep my commons in a box so I don't use too much space in my binder.
I'm too lazy to separate mythic rares from rares so mythic rares and in the same section
I have two binders with all my rares in them.
Then I have long white boxes that were originally used to store blank driver's licenses (Used to know someone who worked at a license bureau). I have one box for every color that I store all my commons and uncommons in.
And I have a shoebox full of land.
As the title implies, what types of binders do you guys and girls use to store your cards? Also, in your opinion what's better for keeping pages and cards in the best condition, the circular rings or the D shaped rings?
Monster binders are the best if your one of those people who just wants the best everything. Other than that I would say the square ring binders are probably a bit better.
Monster binders are great! I have one, and I put all my rares in it. They hold a lot of cards, and keep them nice and snug, so there's no moving around, and they don't fall out either.
Their expensive though. I only got mine because I sold some of my rares collecting dust in my old binder to a dealer and bought it for about the price of a regular binder.

I use three binders; one for my rares, and the other two for uncommons. I use the Ultra Pro ones that are sold at my LGS.
Also, for really awesome cards (signed, foil, etc) I use one of those 4-card page thingees (it has Pokemon on it).

Yeah :D.
Standard/Extended+ - Color - Creature/Noncreature
Then it splits:
Creature: Mana cost - Creature Type - Alphabetical
Noncreature: Enchant/Instant/Sorcery - Mana Cost - Alphabetical
Makes it so much easier to find stuff when I know exactly where it should be.
