Quote from Raptor1210Dominaria. It's time for Magic to go Home.
I just want people who redraft to admit this:
"I can't draft objectively unless I am able to guarantee that I receive at least 3 rares. I am also better than most average/new players so I want to make sure that I get the best rares and they end up with worse ones. I care more about the monetary value of cards than actually playing the game for decent prizes."
Quote from GalgamationAnywhere but Kamigawa. The only people who liked that block when it was around were the anime fanboys.
Quote from GalgamationSome people also found it to be pretty racist.
Quote from SemiMasterFallen Empires, with the caveat of making it not suck out loud.
Otherwise, I know its soon, but Innistrad is awesome and I'd like to see a return there in the future.

I am so confused about this set.
In your defense, it seems that WotC is too.

I am so confused about this set.
Quote from SilvosRogueElementalI don't watch anime but I still thought it was a fun and interesting block. Do you think maybe you're imposing your opinion on everyone else?
That's stupid. Seriously frakkin' stupid.
Quote from Galgamation
The block was racist. Straight up, in many cases, obviously so.
It overplayed asian stereotypes, and many people felt like it was poking fun at asian culture. Along with the unpronounceable names, the block encouraged more racist discussions at draft tables/LGSs then any other magic block I have ever drafted, not close. My LGS store owner had to tell people to tone it down multiple times throughout this block because the discussions got so bad.
Quote from SilvosRogueElementalSeriously, calling that black racist is objectively stupid.
Quote from LordOwlingtonIIIHow Freudian.
Quote from LordOwlingtonIIIBut the block was racist: In Kamigawa, ALL the foxes are white. ALL the rats are Black, ALL the snakes are green, ALL the moonfolk were blue, and ALL the goblins were red!
Quote from GalgamationAnywhere but Kamigawa.
I have had my fill of unpronounceable Asian-type names from the first time around. God drafting the block was a nightmare of linguistics and magical cardboard. The only people who liked that block when it was around were the anime fanboys.

Quote from SilvosRogueElementalSo you're calling me racist? How mature.
So it's racist against fictional creatures and wildlife?
Did I mention how this is objectively stupid?
Quote from GalgamationWell this will be my last response to you broheim.
You still don't seem to understand the fact that WHEN THE BLOCK WAS ACTUALLY IN ROTATION, people would come across names they could not say, proceed to say them in some asian accent and then mass asian bashing would begin. This happened frequently, almost everywhere I drafted this block.
The set was racist because it overemphasized all this asian culture stuff and people felt compelled to make fun of it. Just because EDH guys love samurai's and ninja's now does not mean that people who actually drafted the block thought the same way.
If you don't understand that making an asian block can (and did) result in racism when its exposed to the super mature magic crowd, then I simply can't help you.
Quote from cryogen »I hope for a you ban.
Quote from JivanmuktaThis thought process is baffling. Just because people act in a childish and ignorant manner regarding a topic does not make the topic racist. Is that really your argument?
Quote from GalgamationNo, the argument is that the block promoted racism when it was in rotation.
That's it. Intentionally or not, I have never seen more racism come out of any magical cardboard set as with Kamigawa. It was not one LGS or even one city, or even one country. I traveled to many magic events, as this was when I was most active playing competitively, and it was the same story everywhere I went.
I did not play in Arabian Nights or P3K era so I have no idea about those sets.
All I know is that Kamigawa produced a lot of asian bashing.
