Just for fun. Without naming & shaming anyone, let's post about the most hilarious reasons/gamestates you've had opponents scoop, or seen people scoop at whatever setting. Cockatrice, Magic Online, GP's, FNM...anything goes.
For me, it has to be this one:
4 player EDH. The table consists of Glissa (Me), Rakdos Lord of Riots, Rhys the Redeemed and Uril the Miststalker. I had a decent start, got out a Reassembling Skeleton, and the Rakdos player had an early Signet. Then Rhys goes and plays Luminarch Ascension.
Given that it's obvious this guy's theme is "TOKENS TOKENS TOKENS", I know how dangerous the Ascension is, so I poke him with my skeleton while setting up my field a bit more. The Uril player has nothing on the field yet, but the Rakdos player plays Falkenrath Aristocrat and smacks the Rhys player for 4. Next round comes and I again poke him with the Skeleton, and he goes to proclaim "EVERYONE IS GUNNING FOR ME BUT IM NOT DOING ANYTHING" and scoops.
So yeah, it made me laugh, and the Uril and Rakdos players proved to be interesting opponents in a rather nice game from that point on. Any other fun stories?

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
Hahaa thats funny. my friends and i cubed lastnight and luminarchs was a pain in the butt. My favorite was my friend drafting a green/black cube deck. Each game on turn three i got my mirridon crusader need less to say scoops came and a redraft was had.
In a Top 8 (aka no time limits), during our 80-minute game 3, my life has been well over 40 life for over 20 turns. He takes a few swings at me after stabilizing a board position with 2 Vedalken Shackles. He finally gets me to 19, and then 5. He's at 4. He tapped all his guys besides a few small dudes on the ground, and passes. I swing with my Serra Ascendant. He scoops his cards and says "I guess that's game."
That's what happens when you play for 80 minutes when the same game I'm always above 30 life until the last minute. lol. He was so pissed after I told him I just won with a 1/1 while he was still at 3 life.
During the last round of an FNM, my opponent is at 3 life. I Ultimate Price my opponents Thragtusk at end of his turn. He quickly acknowledges it, to which I quickly put into play Wolfir Avenger into play. He scoops his cards.
^ People shouldn't feel the need to play quickly if we have 20 minutes of time left. He tripped over his own feet for that, considering his deck was far superior and able to make fast comebacks.
The first plane is Selesnya Loft Gardens. Gisela puts out a turn 2 Luminarch Ascension. I fail to roll planeswalk. Ghave fails to roll planeswalk. Everybody scoops.
this just happened a few months ago
turn one opponet drops a island says go
turn 2 i drop cavern of souls naming humans followed by champion of the parish
opponet scoops says something vulgar about cavern and gets up and leaves it was only game on of the semi finals for that night i was kinda stunned lol
In MTGO cube the other day I go turn one fetch turn 2 goyf. the other guy plays a land and passes. I go turn 3 thoughtsieze he responds with an Izzet Charm shocking my goyf. (This makes my goyf bigger before state base actions are checked so he doesnt die) I swing for three and he passes his next turn. When I declare attackers he decides to chaos warp my tarmogoyf which smacks a terastodon onto my field, the guy then proceeded to quite justifiably click the concede game button.
Cubing with a friend, I drafted a B/R deck.. Turn 1 I play lotus petal, swamp and dark ritual.. into mind twist.. which hits all his lands. Instant rage quit. I had nothing else really threatening in my hand, just some burn and no mountains haha.
I was playing a combo deck at FNM that was centered on Twiddle + Gilded Lotus (and also other untap effects and card drawing like Trade Secrets and Thirst for Knowledge). The win condition was to draw into one of the two Tendrils of Agony in the deck after playing multiple other spells. Oh, the deck also had Mind's Desire. I had an okay starting hand one game that had a lot of combo pieces and one Tendrils and my opponent played a discard spell that made me lose Tendrils. I drew the second Tendrils and he made me discard that one, too.
I now had NO way to win, but I kept playing as if I were still building towards something. At one point, I had Gilded Lotus in play, managed to play Twiddle, Seething Song, Trade Secrets, draw a bunch of cards, Twiddle some more, Mind's Desire and 12 spells later, played Temporal Fissure, which was enough to return every permanent my opponent controlled back to his hand. That was enough, and he scooped. This was a friend of mine, so after the match, I let him know that I had no way to win after he stripped my hand of all of my win conditions. It became a running joke for MONTHS after that.
Whenever he boasted about doing well against an incompetent opponent, I'd chime in with, "yeah, I remember this one time my opponent scooped when I had no victory conditions left in my deck. What a fool!"
I was playing RW Lockdown so I had maindecked Leyline of Sanctity. So it ends up in my opener against a guy on cockatrice, and I reveal it. He says that he has no outs for that and concedes. We go to sideboards.
I have no idea at this point what he is playing, so when he unlocks his sideboard I sideboard for storm. I mulligan down to 6 to find my storm hate and end up with another Leyline and not much else of value. I assume he sideboarded in Echoing Truth, but I figure I might as well keep it. I drop the Leyline and he concedes game 2.
Two concessions with no lands played from either side. I still don't know what he was playing.
I was playing a guy at states thisyear, I was playing mono red, he was playing some weird control deck. We both lost round 1, and I guess he was in a really pissy mood, cause every time I played a card, it as "Of COURSE you have that in your hand, jesus I've never seen anyone topdeck everything they need" etc. I'm just keeping my mouth shut. I beat him round 1 easily with 2 hellriders.
Game 2 goes back and forth, I had him on the ropes when he gets an Army of the Damned off and puts the 13 2/2's on the field, with a "FINALLY". he looks at me and says "If you have Mizzium Mortars, I just scoop. So I show him Mizzium Morters in my hand, he loses his ****, grabs his deck, and storms out of the store. Even though I only had 4 mana on board at the time.
I've got a pretty crazy scoop, I was playing a buddy of mine in a game of EDH. I was using kaalia and he had the mimeoplasm, the game went on for a while and I got super mana screwed to boot, and by mana screwed I mean he had like maybe 8 or 9 land out as well as a couple signets, all I had was 3 land a signet and a darksteel ingot at the end of the game. Well he kept casting creatures and trying to kill me. He managed to actually get me down to 16 life and he was still at 40 life and I just kept getting lucky with removal for a long time, he even managed to tuck kaalia when I tried to cast her but I guess he decided it was futile to keep trying and he ended up scooping and saying that he couldn't do anything else, it was hilarious!
EDH on MTGO. Table was Thada steal everything (me), Karrthus dragon tribal, and Grimgrin zombie tribal.
Grimgrin had a mill/reanimation subtheme to his deck, and I was getting annoyed. He had a small army of zombies out, and cast Undead Alchemist. I didn't want him getting MORE zombies on top of more milling, so I responded with Gather Specimens.
Grimgrin read the card and said something along the lines of "hey, that's cool". GS resolves and I get myself an Alchemist. Grimgrin then tries to use Rise from the Grave on my Keiga, presumably to steal his Alchemist back. I tell him "Thanks!" He re-reads the GS popup that MTGO had floating on his screen and says something to the effect of "wow, that card is powerful".
Grimgrin activates Corpse Queen targeting one of the zombies in his graveyard... and comments that GS is broken.
Grimgrin activates Balthor the Defiled... and scoops because Gather Specimens should be banned.
Karrthus and I basically sit there for a bit, going "what the hell just happened?" I mean, I can understand making the mistake once with Rise from the Grave, on the assumption that GS doesn't last the full turn. But to use Corpse Queen AND Balthor after that, both of which can be used at instant speed after GS's ability is gone? Yeah...
My opponent scooped out of disgust after this play:
He has 3 black creatures (including a Knight of Infamy) and 4 mana. I have a Silverblade Paladin paired with some other creature. I'm at 8 life.
He plays Hellrider, so he's tapped out, and swung with the team. I went to 4, which activated Fateful Hour for my Faith's Shield. I went pro-black with Faith's Shield so taking nothing from the other 3 creatures, and killed his Hellrider with first strike damage. He then just scooped even though I can't kill him next turn.
Not magic (SC2), but IdrA once scooped to a bunch of hallucinated Voidrays in an MLG tournament. He was well mad in the next game, but he seems to rage quit quite a bit.

[center]The best combo in Modern is now unbanned, yay!!!
Back when Ravnica was brand new, my opponent cast Brightflame on one of my creatures. I got down to business "Okay, so this is dead, and also this and this..." I pointed out which of his creatures were dying as well.
"Ah, damn it. I didn't read the card closely enough." He said as he scooped. Of course at that point, since the game was over, I didn't have to point out that in addition to clearing the board he should have gained something like 30 life. I have little doubt that if he'd just accepted his mistake he would have gone on to carry the game.
I can think of two that i've seen, both while playing online via OCTGN.
#1: I'm using my Cursed Totem + Living Plane deck. I have the totem out along with a phyrexian altar and i drop the living plane.
Me: trololol, you can no longer tap land for mana, but i can sac things for mana with my altar.
At this point the other guy completely refuses to believe that cursed totem shuts off a lands mana ability while its a creature due to living plane. I point him to the gatherer page for the totem with the ruling clear as day that it shuts off mana abilities, and he says "no you idiot, im tapping them as lands not as creatures!" and then curses me out a bit more before quitting the game entirely.
#2: Playing an EDH game using my Azami, Lady of scrolls deck. I go first and drop an island, he proceeds to play some 1-drop creature and i counter it with Force Spike. I then get a diatribe about "oh god not another bleeping bleep counter deck" and an instant quit.

Game two, after sideboarding I dropped Dryad Militant on turn 1 followed by Rest in Peace on turn 2. He picked up his only land and said "Game 3".
