Inferno Titan, Ludevic's Test subject, and a couple other rares, some over a few dollars for three alara-block commons that probably totaled to less than a quarter in value.
Though I did this trade on purpose to give a kid I know who was just starting some nice cards.
back befor gold symbols I remember I would trade cards based on art since I was young and had no knowledge of rarities and how the game worked.. I know for a fact I have trade many (probly expensive) cards for stuff I thought was cool back then.. crash of rhinos comes to mind. I was the type of kid people prayed on.. I would trade boring cards with lots of text for any old cool creatures. \m/ POST COUNT \m/
Before I knew that some rares were more valuable than others, I traded away 1x Wrath of God (6th Edition) for 3x Pikachu and some Electricity energy (from Pokemon, of course).
Before I knew that Tempest-era and earlier rares also had black expansion symbols, I donated an Ebon Dragon to the commons box. I later saw it in the store's display going for $5.00. D'oh!
Thankfully that's the extent of my being a dummy with trades. I still get ripped off buying cards sometimes, though.

When I did the trade it was bad for me, but now it ended up working out just fine.
I traded my Tamiyo for a Snapcaster when she was over 35 dollars and snappy was around 15, not really sure why I did it I think I just desperately needed a snappy for that night in FNM.. but now I'm okay with it because Tamiyo is a little bit less then snapcasters.

when was snapcaster ever 15 bucks? right now at 22 is the lowest i've ever seen him?
anyway mine isn't as bad as most. i generally don't care what happens to card prices a few months after i get them..but my most boneheaded trade is I traded an Iona for an Atogatog i didn't even need.

Card addiction has them for 18 a piece right now, and I saw them going for 15 a piece earlier this year.

Overhyped planeswalker for a cross format staple all-star card... I would make that trade any day
show and tell and tolarian academy for goblin king and midsummer revel, back in 1998 when casual goblins were as popular as merfolks
There's no excuse for this. Although Show and Tell was $1 at that time, Tolarian Academy has NEVER been under $15 as far as I know.
My worst trade was long ago, I traded 4 Tropical Island for Eureka. Trops were $5 at that time while Eureka was $20. Now it is more like $90 each vs. $55.

Nothing as horrifying as a black lotus or moxen for some jank common, but when I was just starting out I remember trading my dual land (can't remember which one, but it was an M12 dual land) for a single Phyrexian Swarmlord
When I realised I'd just lost $10 (this was when I had no job and money was very, very hard to come by) I made sure to research values before I traded again. Never been ripped off since, so I learned my lesson. =)
My worst trade was also my biggest. I traded with a high end store to pick up a $300 The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale by giving them about $550 in highly playable Legacy staples. It would have been better if I sold some of the cards on eBay to buy the Tabernacle outright, then kept the rest.
My end of the trade included:
Revised Underground Sea
Revised Savannah
Windswept Heath
foil Masques Brainstorm
Grim Monolith
Vengvine
Gideon Jura
AEther Vial
water damaged foil AEther Vial
Sensei's Divining Top
10E Crucible of Worlds
Enlightened Tutor
Demonic Tutor
Cryptic Command
foil Mindbrake Trap
Counterbalance
Spell Snare
probably some more that I've forgotten about
Still, the Tabernacle I picked up is English and in NM condition. Trading the cards to the store was far less work than selling them on eBay. I'm not complaining and knew what I was doing. It just hurts to see how the value of the cards I traded away have slowly increased while the Tabernacle has not.

Back in the day I was starting to get disillusioned with MTG (fallen empires and homelands were BRUTAL). No one in my town played MTG anymore and I thought it would go the way of pogs. The Star Wars CCG was pretty popular and I brought my Magic collection to a local store to trade for the top tier Star Wars cards. I ended up trading about a dozen revised dual lands for the expensive Star Wars rares (Darth Vader, Obi Wan, Death Star, etc). At the time it was probably a relatively equal trade. With the gift of hindsight though, I gave away about a grand for cards that are now worth almost nothing.
This wasn't me, but about two years ago, I saw this kid trade a Foil(!) Scalding Tarn he just pulled from a Zendikar pack for 3 Garruk Wildspeaker for his Elf deck.
I tried to offer him 3 Foil Garruks and some nice full art Zen lands, but he had no interest.

It's not a trade per say (well I guess it is, since he traded for money), but my friend sold 4 Lotus Cobras to a store, then I told him his deck would be better with Lotus Cobras in it. He agreed and bought them back a week later, lost about 20$ in the process. He also bought 4 online.
It wasn't bad at the time, but I opened a foil Bonfire at the AVR prerelease and traded it (with a Vexing Devil, which I knew would drop) a week later for 2 Overgrown Tombs. To be honest, who would have thought non-foil Bonfires would be at $35-40 right now?
On the plus side, I did make two trades for Bonfires that turned out good. A SoWaP and $5 in store credit for one, and a Resto and 2 Silverblade Paladin for another.

Money wise? Selling my dual land complete set x4 for 200 dollars. Back in Ice Ages days. Because I was "about to quit" Magic.
When I felt really ripped off? A very known player here in Brazil, when I was a complete newb, convinced me to give him my set of Vesuvan Doppelgangers for his set of the dark's Giant Sharks. I was THAT new to the game, he managed to convince me it was a good trade.
Guys like that could ruin this game, I almost stopped playing when I discovered what he had done (I was like 13 years old and he was like 30, just for kickers). I'm glad this kind of behavior is no longer considered "normal", even if some cretins still do that to kids and newbs.

I remember sometime around Tenth Edition, I traded a Magus of the Future for an assortment of around 20 commons and uncommons. I don't know if this was good or bad, but everybody was giving me weird faces and calling me an idiot for trading it away. >:C
It was the card that made my whole entire deck function, as I was soon to find out.
