So change the text on great wall to forestwalk with a magical hack and go to town with your Erhnam Djinn! How can you not win the World Championships with this??
This is back when creatures weren't really all that good. Ernie actually saw a good amount of play and people did game giving themselves no forests.

I always believed that there isn't a card in existence that is completely useless. But for the longest time, I wouldn't think of a use for Great Wall. It might be a terrible 3 card combo, but it still gives the card a use. Thanks for ending my quest!
It was designed badly on purpose. That's depressing.
Srsly, I just want to collect every single copy of these and send them back to wizards for recycling. The design of the card actually makes the cardboard its printed on cost more then the card itself.
There is also Kite Shield but I'm telling myself there must of been a mixup at the printers for this to be printed at common when its strictly less powerful then Accorder's Shield which is a common.
I'm not sure about any of the cards listed above can be even used.
Now maybe a card like Scoria Elemental could be used in a elemental deck or something. Maybe
Kite Shield and its counterpart Greatsword are meant to be core set baselines. They, in addition Shock and Cancel are cards that are basic, but to be balanced they would be in the mana-and-a-half range, which is obviously impossible (no, not unhinged). So they make the worse ones in Core Set as an educational device, and the better ones Galvanic Blast, Dissapate, Butcher's Cleaver in the expert expansions to embellish the mechanics.
Mudhole isnt useless, its just not that powerful. I've used it before in casual land destruction deck. Divine Intervention depends on what your definition of good/bad is. Yes it makes it so you cant win, but it also makes it so you cant lose. If you are guaranteed to lose in a game, it doesnt hurt at all to play divine intervention. A draw is better than a loss. Sorrow's path is pretty bad but it still has uses. Its obvious that it was designed to be used for combat tricks, but the penalty for using it ended up being too much. There are certain scenarios where that might work, but not very many. I like the idea of donating it and tapping it to take out your opponents creatures though. Defensive Stance is pretty bad. It makes holy strength look like a bomb. It has its uses though. Theres plenty of scenarios where that extra toughness might save your game winning creature, or that -1 power could shut down one of your opponents utility creatures.
Great Wall is without a doubt the most useless card out there. The card is purely defensive, and is so narrow that it only affects about 5 cards out there. Even in the very rare cases where you might run into a plainswalker, great wall doesnt even hurt them, it just lets you block them normally. Its true that you could play the Great Wall, Ernham Djinn, Magical Hack combo to negate Ernhams negative effect, but thats essentially paying 5UGW for a vanilla 4/5. Its possible to use opalescense to turn it into a creature, but its still strictly worse than every other 2W enchantment out there.

I got nothing for Defensive Stance though.
