So, we've always joked that the best deck in this "format" is ~20 Black Lotus and ~40 Ancestral Recall. However, I was playing this little game with a friend of mine who's relatively new to Magic and he broke the format. 60 Chancellor of the Dross. I found it pretty humorous.
LOL. Not going to lie, I really lol'd hard at this. I think it's safe to go to at least, say, 10 Factories, maybe even 20. With 2 you're likely to deck yourself before you can win.
Except it's possible to create a deck that can beat both Flames and Chancellor. Just toss a few Leylines into a Flames deck, and you should be able to both reliably get one and two Guides/a Flames.
Alternately, Leylines + Nourishing Shoals + 1 copy of Darksteel Colossus will beat both decks. Start with a Leyline in play, gain two by shoaling a shoal and you're out of the range of 21 chancellor damage, and you can just wait it out until your opponent decks.

23 lotus
13 force of will
12 time twister
12 Psionic blast
Good luck beating that....
Loses badly to ripple and Chancellor.
Seriously, read the old threads.
There are 3 decks in this format that form the benchmark against which you must test. Those are Chancellor, Ripple, and Slug. If you can't at least beat 1 of those decks and have a close matchup against another one, your deck is not good enough. I don't care how broken it would be in Vintage, it is terrible in this format.
Slug beats every deck based on the fact that they attack the turn before they enter the battlefield. Even the nourish deck can't beat it because they can't gain life until turn 0, and slug kills you on turn -1

Odds of pulling a JtMS from a WWK pack: 1:80
Odds of pulling any specific rare in 5th Edition: 1:133
So, on average, 1 JtMS every 2.222 boxes or 1 Bird of Paradise every 3.694 boxes. Yeah, I'll take my odds with Mythics, they are easier to get than old rares.

This is a pretty silly format and I can't see why anyone would play it to be honest. LOL. Reminds me of the days when Flash Hulk was legal.

The franchise MtG most resembles is Battlestar Galactica. Why? Its players exist in, at most, a dozen different models at any given point in time, with perhaps up to 3% variation, 5% if you're lucky.

How is that possible? Slug requires a 'declare attackers' step, and as far as I'm aware, there's no such thing as a 'declare attackers' step before turn 1.

"This may attack the turn before you play it"
Granted, we're debating semantics on an UN card, so I'm not sure there is a correct way to answer your question.

I actually have a real deck built with this concept in mind- 20 Islands, 20 twiddles, and 20 Psychic Venoms. Casually, it does pretty well.
Beating Chancellor of the Dross: Elvish Spirit guide and any 1 mana green card that gains life. Example: Healing Leaves.
Or, just like in the above post, Nourishing Shoal.
They attack the turn before they enter play. You can't fog now for a previous turn.

In theory (keep in mind, we're talking about an UN card here, so this is all theoretical), you will have lost before you draw your opening hand. So unless you can find a way around that, it comes down to slug on slug with the winner of the die roll winning the match.

Do you understand 7 card hand = 7 chancellor of dross = 21 damage before turn 1 begins.
No, Chancellor does the damage in the first upkeep. The ripple deck can do everything at instant speed in response to any upkeep triggers.
