Does anybody know where the flavor text for Dream Halls comes from, or even what it means or what it is referring to? I don't know if it is from a poem or what.

It's not a quote from any specific work; otherwise, it would be attributed. It's just wordplay that is resonant but probably not intended to mean anything in particular.
The Beatles did have a song called "Within You Without You", so maybe that's the connection you're making?
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
Dream halls is a sick nasty card yall. Anyone else running a dream halls Legacy combo deck? That has got to be the most fun combo deck I've run to this day.
Well if you consider the flavor of the card's effect, it's pretty clear and quite interesting. I can't say I ever noticed it, so thanks for bringing it up.
Dream Halls mechanically lets you cast a spell for free by pitching a card of the same color. Given the card title, apply this to the "magic" of being in a dream. All you have to do is think about something (discard a same color card) to make something–or at least something like it–happen (casting the spell without paying mana). The card title suggests that the enchantment's action takes place in a hall of some sort, giving a location to this odd, dreamlike experience. So you are WITHOUT your regular resources, ie mana, while you are WITHIN the Dream Halls. Since you're in a dream, it doesn't matter than you're within without, since you don't need all the normal resources.
It's widely known that [EDH] is very broken. Building a superdeck is quite easy. So what defines you as a player is [...] how you show restraint and creativity while still remaining a competitive player and a good sport.
the only problem with urza is that he is an oldwalker, so its abilities would be like:
+3: remove up to ten target permanents from the play
-2: win the game
-8: kick your opponents in the face, then win the game
starting loyalty: 100

This is certainly an interesting take, thank you. I must say, I always had a different interpretation, along the lines of "You are within the Without," i.e. while you are here, your dreams can become a reality and you have no boundaries (such as being able to drop fatties for free :)). I suppose the minimalist flavor text is supposed to breed that sort of free thinking and all sorts of interpretations.
My brother just top 64ed the Indianapolis GP with Dream Halls, I didn't fare as well but played the same list. It was a lot of fun. I was just looking at the card the other day and that lead to this post.

Yea the deck is actually really hard to get going, the best version I've seen just basically uses Show and Tell / Progenitus as the main win condition and then Dream Halls / Conflux as the other. It is very satisfying to go off on Conflux however, go and fetch a bunch of cruel ultimatums and the lone nicol bolas planeswalker I put in for kicks and then cast them all for free using your cantrips. Too bad all your opponents counterspells become force of wills essentially once Dream Halls resolves.. so I built mine as more of a very meticulous control deck that tries to go to 5 mana to resolve Dream Halls (also 'cause I sold my old collection with my playset of SnT's )
