Does this exist? I know the rules fairly well but there are sometime when a very confusing situation arises so i wanted to read the rule book from front to back.
I take a train for my morning and night commute to and from work and i felt like this would be an excellent time to read through the rules but i don't want to print out 192 pages of rules or try and read it on my phone.
Are you able to purchase a paperback or hardcover mtg rule book that isn't ancient?
Blah that sucks. I know they update frequently, but so do text books for kids. Its more of a matter of reading through all the current rules, and any changes in the future i can just read them separately.
No, since they update it regularly a printed copy would become obsolete.
Print a section or two a day till you get through it.
With that said, is the basic rule book included in anything anymore (fat pack, deckbuilders toolkit? or do you have to get the pdf?

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
I'm just thinking from WotC's perspective, I guess they have figured that nobody gets into this game anymore from just buying it. They get in because they see people playing it.
How ubiquitus is a game that doesn't publish its rules (at least not in paper) Even Monopoly has a rulebook.

Basic Rulebooks are still printed yearly and are sent to WPN locations.
The Comprehensive Rulebook is too large, updated too frequently and has insufficient demand in a printed form to be worth doing. You could take the electronic version to a copy shop and have them print it up/bind it if you wanted. This also true for the Magic Tournament Rules and Infraction Procedure Guide.
You can find links to all these documents in my signature.

That's what I did. A place like FedEx Office will print and bind it for cheaper than it would cost to buy and ship a book. You can even upload the PDF online and have the finished product shipped to you.
It would be nice if they treated it like a tech manual and when they updated it, gave out revisions so that you could print them out and do a page for page swap.

That app has the full CR, MTR and IPG + Full oracle for all printed cards - if you dont mind reading on a phone screen (of if you have an iPad) then its probably your best bet... but be vary, i wouldnt suggest many people to just sit down and read the rules cover to cover unless you are studying for a judge exam, pick the "important" sections and read those, you really wont get much use out of all of it...
