3.99 MSRP for a normal pack of cards, 11.99 for an all foil pack of a larger card pool.
Is a foil card worth three times the normal version? No.
Therefore, is this worth it most of the time? Probably not, unless you open some crazy pack with a strong combination of commons/uncommons (Path + Fallout, etc.), or a strong rare/mythic.
It would be interesting to draft once or twice though.
Everyone stop complaining. There is probably a lot of market research into what people want. If you don't want to buy it, don't buy it. People will buy it or else Wizards wouldn't print it. I think it's kinda cool. I hope it does mean that they are pushing EDH and I would be interested in checking it out if it became a sanctioned format. Although, FNM's would take like 3 days....
I like the idea too. I know people who want only foils in their decks, and some people who collect foil sets (or at least try to like me lol) and this is right up their alley.
The only problem I have is the price (11.99 is too high) and the fact that no one really wants alara block foils all that much lol.
Now if they offered an M10 all foil booster, I'd be all over that!
while $12 is expensive, i know a lot of people who would buy these. imagine openning up even a good rare or even stable and popular uncommons and commons? that'll be worth $12.
with my luck, i would open some really awful cards and wonder what to do with them as they aren't so junky as to leave them on a game store table, but what do i want with bad foils anyways?
they need to sell a ZEN foil land pack. 40 foil lands.
omg. i wanted to defend WotC when people were saying they were out for a cash grab with all the new stuff they were coming out with, now it is a little hard to do. this is just a blatant cash grab imo.

I must be the only person, ever, to dislike foils in any form...
No, you're not. I loathe them, and actively get rid of all of my foil basic lands, commons, and uncommons. Rares and Mythics I grudgingly keep, as I may need them for trades or for decks.

Why? I never understood what's not to like about foils...

Although always playing a deck I think is fun, I'm also always trying to win the tournament.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe when Wizard's uses the term "Premium Foil", they are referring to the foiling process they have thus far used for the From the Vault series, see link:
This leads me to believe that these packs will in fact not contain regular foils, but premium foils as we have previously seen in From the Vault sets. If this IS in fact true, I for one am personally interested in getting a few packs of these.
Awesome I get to spend $12 a pack on a block that'll cycle in 6 months....
Try a year.

The only good thing about this post is the edible chocolate roaches they gave out! Mmm mmm!
*crawl crawl*
Wait a minute, edible roaches don't crawl! EDIBLE ROACHES DON'T CRAWL!
thats weird.:eyebrow:
so you can end up with any cards from alara block? the veriety is nice, infact if they just sold non foil packs that summed up the whole block that would be convenient. but all foil seems silly. although they would seem like loads of fun for draft. lol
I bet when you open the boxes the packs bounce out due to the curling of foil cards.

a small sentence for you to read while you ignore my post.
i would have loved the product if not for 3 things.
1. The whole block over a booster. Makes it a bit harder to pull playsets of the commons you want.
2. 12 msrp is steep for such a product.
3. No foil tokens? Foil Lands possibly? The card spread needed to be announced. I'd prefer no lands/tokens, but foil tokens would be pimp.
Pushing EDH much? Seems like confirmation that EDH might be a new sanctioned format
A couple of people have said this, and it's confusing me. I'm familiar with EDH/Commander, but not with foils being a big part of it. Is playing foils-only EDH a thing that people do?

Drafting this, however, might be amazingly awesome.

There is some pretty cool alara block foils that are comon/uncomon. Woolly Thoctar, PtE, Fallout, Terminate, BB Elf just to name a few.

a lot.
all my decks would need it.
you too. and all your friends.
those foil ZEN lands are just so darn pretty.
Do they really want our money that badly?
I smell some holiday promos ala Fruitcake Elemental coming that are actually sold rather than given out.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
I won't be buying these. Sorry WOTC, fail.

Zen would've been 17589023740589235 times better, like even for just the land.
