I must be dumb, because I can't figure out how to search the new Gatherer in the way that I want.
It used to be that you could check "name, flavor text, and oracle text" when you entered your search term and it would return any card with the term in any of those three areas.
How the **** do I do this in beta? I've tried putting my search term in each of the "name, rules text, and flavor text" filters with various combinations of the booleans. I know that in the "help" it says you can't add multiple booleans across multiple filters, but you can't enter a term in a filter without a boolean to accompany it, so..
So I must be dumb. There is clearly something I'm missing. It is very frustrating as Gatherer used to be the only engine that would let me search that way, but now I can't figure it out, and also because the MTG forums just won't load when I try to create an account to ask there.
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
I have no problem searching for cards using the new gatherer (much better than the old gatherer). I just make sure all 3 check boxes are clicked and put in the keywords I'm searching for.
I have noticed that when you try to filter by type (creature, enchantment, etc), it doesn't always work.
It's only going to pull out cards with keywords as you type them, it's not going to guess what you mean. So, if you need certain cards, you might have to word them a couple of different ways.
