Jace on the other hand gives you card advantage for no life cost. On the contrary, Jace can actually take some damage for you. I'd think that makes him better than Arena.
I recently moved to the Netherlands (I'm living here for a year on an exchange program) and I'm interested in getting involved in Magic out here, but I am pretty much ignorant about it. I was hoping some fellow europeans (or fellow netherlanders) could help me out.
I know pretty much nothing about Magic here. Like, what language are the cards in? Are there Dutch cards? Do they play with English cards? How many Euro's is a decent price for a pack? What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow? Where to go in Amsterdam to play, go to tourneys, etc.
I'm currently living about a 25 minute car ride west of Apeldoorn, and a 1.5 hour train ride from Amsterdam (I'm just outside of the smallest villiage ever, Elspeet), so I'm right in the smack middle of the country (about).
And, if my english friends want to help me out, I may also consider going to London for prereleases, etc., so prices in pounds would be nice, too.
Thanks for help before hand, and sorry if this was in the wrong forum (I haven't posted in ages).

I'm going to be doing graduate work at ASU this year, and just moved to Tempe this week. Does anyone know of a good place to play Magic that's within walking/biking distance of the campus?
Thanks.
There's nothing that's really close to ASU at all, honestly. The best you're going to do(the only place to really play anything remotely resembling competitive Magic in AZ) is at Mana Werx, which is probably 30 minutes, by car, from ASU. There might be some kind of group on the ASU campus that plays..dunno. Failing those, I'd suggest Magic Online.
Hey man, welcome to NC! It's a great state. I live out in Asheville (about 3 hours away). There's a lot of Magic in High Point at a place called DJ's. Also, if you want to know about all the large sanctioned events happening here, go to www.shuffleupevents.com. Also, in Charlotte there's a place called Underground Games, which holds a lot of PTQ's and other events.
I grew up in NC (Winston-Salem). You will be in for a bit of a culture shock, but you will certainly find nice people and a much, MUCH more affordable ($) existence. Congrats.
The best place to play where you are is DJ's Cards and Stuff in Highpoint. I think thats the correct name. They do Pre-releases, releases, and FNM. Best place in my book.
Let me know if you are going to the TS pre-release and I'll meet ya there :jam:. Hope it all works out.
Anyway, my plan is to move into an apt. for about 6 months, then I was actually planning on moving to Asheville into an actual house once I got secured.
Anyway, how is it over there? Is it slow paced, fast paced, etc, etc? I heard it was hick-ville, but I tend to doubt that.
Morphling, you said I was in for a culture shock, what do you mean by that?

Well, unfortunately is is a bit hill-billy. That much cannot be helped. I was born here, and am a bit ashamed. (you could mention boob and milk will squirt out of their ass. I think.) Its a hell hole. . . I'm just trying to make you feel bad, thats all.
I've just moved to Raleigh, NC from Massachusettes. I was wondering if any of you guys know about any place to play and buy Magic stuff, preferably within 30 minutes of where I am. I know of this one place called All Fun and Games, and it's nice there, but they don't have store binders to buy stuff from, only some randon T2 stuff. So yeah, the main thing I'm looking for in a store is binders of T1 stuff for sale.
LMK if you know anything. Thanks.
There is already a thread on the front page about places to play in NC. Merged.
There are a few places to play semi-near here, in Eden, probably the closest place is Elske's Collectibles about 20 minutes away or so, they hold FNM and release tournaments, they used to also play on sundays but they stopped because of lack of interest, DJ's Cards and Stuff is also a nice place to play, although their card prices suck, there are always plenty of people willing to trade and play, but that's about 35-45 minutes away. Never been to Charlotte or Raliegh to play so I can't offer much help there.
I wish there were card shops in Greensboro, but no one here plays that much, we used to have Cosmic Castle and for a while a place called Your Move Games, but they both closed because no one came.

For most of my magic career there has never been a FNM place or a general place where magic can be played anywhere close to where i live.
Now i start this year at Rutgers University (New Jersey) and i wanted to know if there are any non goat sacrificing play groups over there that play the standard environment.

I was wondering if there are any good Magic spots near Greensboro, or if someone from MTGS lived near there and wanted to meet.
Well, thanks.
There is some magic in High Point, near there, and Raleigh, a little farther away.
A certain "J_Myers" lives in North Carolina, however... Sorry, no idea.
