Just to throw my craziest story in. Day 2 of GP Jersey a friend and myself were finish our t1 decks([Shameless plug]I took 9th, it was the first time i ever touched stax[/Shameless plug]). Well anyway while we we standing at the dealer this guy comes up with this crazy metal breifcase looking thing, precedes to pull a key out of his pocket unlock and then enter the dial code. He opens it up to show the dealer, first page Beta Demonics...then the duals...and the the beta power...and i don't mean like a page with a set i mean a full page of each mox, walk, twister and a full page of loti....needless to say i had to bend down and pick my jaw up off the ground before walking away.
Well, until my collection was stolen in Dallas at the 2004 regionals, I probably had the best or one of the best collections in Louisiana. It was probably worth near $7000 at that time, and that's after I got rid of my lotus, 7 ul moxes, about 60 duals, and the rest of my type 1 stuff. they just got my type 2 (about 16 of each card in type 2 at the time) my extended (a playset at least of almost everything) and my left over type 1 stuff (mint sol ring and some other goodies). Never found out who took it. Someone got in my friend's car, popped his trunk, and took my collection out while I was playing inside during the day. We were parked at the top level of the parking garage. Even have a thread about it on mtgnews.com http://forums.mtgnews.com/showthread.php?t=169652 It was really unbelievable. I went to go play at the ravnica prerelease in little rock a year and half after my collection was stolen. someone mentioned it and the store employee said, "yeah, i heard about that." I'd never even played a game of magic in Arkansas before that day and he'd heard about it.

That's plain scary right there.
I don't go out enough to know who's got big things... once I was going to do trades with a 10 year old who collected old Magic cards and foils... but I don't talk to him anymore due to the fact that the age difference is... well... wrong... and awkward... it was only a one time thing that I traded with him. I was even going to teach the kid the game... and it seemed like he had a big job that earned him lots of money... its like, is he REALLY 10/11??
I was 19 at the time, but at least I have a nephew who was/is his friend, so I guess it wasn't like I met some kid who was trying to sell crap... the age of 20 is MUCH more of a difference. I think I still have some guilt over the age difference, even more explaining it.
haha, yeah. at the fifth dawn prerelease in south louisiana, i was talking with some people about the collection being stolen. a guy walks up to me (after hearing me talk about the collection) and said, "...you know editing out name?" I replied, "I am editing out name." Happened to be a guy who I'd traded with on MOTL previous. Now, that was weird for a moment though.
I knew a player who used to brag about owning several copies of Mox Ruby and Mana Drain. My playgroup constantly asked him for proof, but he never delievered. What's more, the most expensive card in his deck we had ever seen was a Morphling, a far cry from drains and power.

Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.
Wasn't there someone one this site who's friend had 200 something FoWs? And I know there was a guy who had at least twenty, he had pictures. It was ridiculous. Simply amazing.
Are you thinking of me? I only have 14 but I have a good number of duals.
edit: I see above it wasn't me you're thinking of.
Those scans are after I took out a playset of duals and FoW's, so whenever I sell them I have them ready to go.
As for the best collection I've seen in person, this guy from Kard Kastle (I think it was them..they are in the Pacific Northwest) was at a PTQ, and he was walking the floor trading. He had summer duals, infinite regular P9, all kinds of crimps/artist proofs with artist mods, EVERYTHING. And of course hot PTQ/t2 stuff for everything else.
That's plain scary right there.
