Well, this has given myself, along with Green Teabagger, a little inspiration to do a Battle of the Blocks series....with four decks from each block participating in a tournament only using cards from their respective blocks.
This is where we need your help.....
First, we are only going to use decks from the ten complete blocks (including Ice Age, which until Coldsnap is released, we will still consider Homelands a part of that block)
We also intend on avoiding putting cards in decks that are only good against a specific block (For example: Psychic Spear is borderline worthless against everything except Kamigawa). We also intend on sticking to WotC's Banned list for each block (so no Skullclamps or Tolarian Academy).
With that said, I am unfortunately unable to remember some of the stronger archetypes of each block...let alone decklists, and GTB only recently got back in the game. We have ideas of what archetypes we want to include in some blocks, but for some we do not have very much. Our research has led us pretty far, but older block decks are hard as hell to find. Most of the research has been based on PTQ results and Grand Prix coverage from magicthegathering.com
(I'd really like to be able to find Block PTQ seasons from before Kamigawa but for some reason cannot)
This is what we do know so far...
Kamigawa Block (Most recent, so yeah, this is pretty easy)

Urza's Block

Rath Cycle (Tempest Block)

Mirage Block
ProsBloom (?) -- Neither of us can remember if the deck was Mirage Block Constructed or a different format, but we do know Cadaverous Bloom and Prosperity are here for the deck...
Ice Age Block (yes, even with Homelands )
Necropotence deck?
If you were wondering, yes we do intend to avoid using Ravnica until all three sets are released. If the first Battle of the Blocks is as big a hit as Legend's BOTS....I plan to do two a year (one regular, and one 'special' edition) This is mainly because it would be unfair to expect a competetive deck from Ravnica with only one set.
* Guaranteed a spot
** Goblins are in, but its not decided whether it'll be with Patriarch's Bidding or not
*** Odyssey is guaranteed to have a Psychatog in one of its four decks
(?) Either we're not sure of the contents of the deck, there wasn't very many appearances, or it may be one of those decks that is only any good in that block...a metagame deck only
What we need from you....
a) Decklists from various blocks...especially blocks from prior to (and including) Odyssey Block if you have them
b) Strong archetypes (and lists) that I may have missed....(example, MUC in Kamigawa didn't really catch on until the end of the season....players almost missed it)
c) Links to sites that can give me more information
d) Suggestions as to which archetypes to use for each block. Notice that some of the archetype lists have more than four under their block. OBviously, we cannot use them all.
e) Basically, anything else that can help
I, along with Green Teabagger, appreciate any and all help that you can provide. THX

Okay I like this. To begin with the dojo is a great source for older decklists. I will try and help you out more later but for now I will list what decks I think you should use:
Kamigawa Block Gifts Ungiven* White Weenie* Black Hand (Fujita's version, Sui version, 'normal' version) MonoBlue Control
Critical Mass
Aggro Red
Enduring Ideal
Mirrodin Block Ravager Affinity* Tooth and Nail*
Big Red Crystal Witness

MonoBlack Control
Onslaught Block Rift/Slide - RW Control* Goblins**
MonoWhite Control

U/W Control (?)

Odyssey Block*** MonoBlack Control*
UG Quiet Roar
GW AggroMadness UG MAdness
UG Threshold Wake
Pirates (?) Upheavel/Infestation w/Tog
UB Control w/Braids
UW Punisher
Invasion Block Domain Machinehead
Goblin Trenches (?)
RWU Control RUG Beats (?) BUW New Solution
Masques Block (only info found from Worlds 2000 Coverage) Rebels* (even sans Lin Sivvi) Rising Waters Blue Skies
BG Beats (?)
RG Beats
Rebels w/Black
Do the block decks have to be PTQ finishers, or can they be say top 16 or so? I have lists of top 16 decks going all the way back to Urza block.
EDIT: Looking through some of my lists, I also have some of the Dojo Decks to Beat for 1997 and 1998 including Tempest Block flagpole, Counter-Chicken, and Trade-Awake. Gogo obsessive compulsive netdeck archive!
Everyone else seems to have taken care of the other blocks but the only info I found on Ice Age block seems to be only Necropotence and Counter-Post. And from what I found out about Counter-Post, Thawing Glaciers is necessary and we all know that's banned so Necropotence may be your only strong option...
Edit: If you go to magic.tcgplayer.com you can search for decks that were played before Kami block under Deck Search. That should help you find the right decks...
Yeah, samereason I didn't list ProsBloom, because Squandered Resources is banned, and Sabre Bargain, because Yawg's Bargain is banned in block.
Come to think of it, I think one of the Sligh decks for Rath Block also doesn't work, because Scroll was banned in Rath Block.
But I can make a case for an earlier proto-Deadguy with (of all cards) Thumbscrews or Scalding Tongs.
Dug out some of my old lists from apprentice, and guess what? Never realized I had to put up wth that many bannings in Block...
U/R Tinker, Sneak Attack, and Covvy probabally cover that block's non-banned format well, but I'm not sure how much nonsense your going to get away with withouht Voltaic key.
Tempest -
And I Dont see Rec/Sur (Recurring Nightmare Survival of the Fittest), Oath, MonoBlueBlock, empty-Hand (Null Brooch/Bridge), Dream Halls, CounterSliver, any one of a billion decks with earthcraft (pegasus tokens come to mind :p).
Urza's
There was a bad version of trix using Delusions, CrabOpposition, Opalescence, and bargain (mmm... bargain....best in t2 AND block for a while. Sooo not banned - check the list.)

Look at how many different versions of Black Hand showed up to Kamigawa Block tournaments, each with a decent amount of success. We want to be able to choose one and perhaps go to another for a future Battle of the Blocks.
@Crimson Avatar: I did that over at the former Brainburst and they only had up to Invasion Block
Thanks for the help so far. Keep it coming

I can't remember which blocks off the top of my head or the decklists, but for an idea - Rebels and Mercenaries you to be HUGE! Mercenaries was around the time of Nemesis??? And Rebels with that one girl who's name I can't remember back in the day. Sorry to sound so vague but I thought this may spark someones memory!

You're thinking of the amazing Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero from Masques block. Under the old legend rule, Rebel v. REbel games were determined by who got their Sivvi out first nd thus dominated the game. Miss Sivvi was banned from that block.

Hey, any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
UPDATE on decklists: Green Teabagger, myself, and our two playtest partners that will be helping us have already put together our lists for Kamigawa Block decks, our Mirrodin Block decks, and three of our four Onslaught Block decks....
The fourth deck will either be RG Beasts, MWC, or Zombie Bidding.
I have found it odd that a lot of the Zombie decks didn't pack Graveborn Muses....seems that would be awesome.
We only have one Beast deck to work from...and it dosen't look that good.
Almost all of the MWC decks look the same. We'll probably just end up flipping a coin to decide this one.
OK, let me point this out. While we are looking for competitve decklists, we may not necessarily carbon copy them for the article. There is also the chance that we will not just use the 'top 4' decks of that block. For example, in Kamigawa.....Red Aggro in the right meta was the best deck in the room, but I wouldn't consider it one of the top 4 decks of that block. NOTE: That's not saying it isn't one of the four archetypes chosen for the first BotB, but it might be.
It is really difficult for Onslaught Block to find four good lists simply because at the top level.....it was pretty much RW Slide, Goblins, and everything else.
Mirrodin --- had to try to avoid the pure anti-affinity decks which was a pain in the butt.
Kamigawa Block started that way as it was Gifts, White Weenie, and everything else. Then, the meta evolved with Black Hand...people (foolishly) thought control was dead in CBS. Then it evolved into many different decks (Damn, I just realized that we didn't even include or consider a Snake deck...and that won two PTQs and made Top 8 in Philadelphia -- maybe next time) made of what was listed in my original post here.
Just giving everyone an update before I stop for the night. We all greatly appreciate the help so far. Keep it up.

We have our decks set for blocks from Kamigawa thru Odyssey
We still need some help for the older blocks as we still haven't had much luck finding information and decklists.
@SnoopDoggAtog: Great stuff. If you got more or can get more, we can use it. About WW Shadow in Tempest....I wasn't playing in Tempest Block, but I can guess that its pretty much Soltaris, Empyrial Armor, with a little disruption...right?

Empyrial Armor, sadly, was in Weatherlight. I'm sick right now but as soon as I have more energy I'll get some more decklists going. The only one I have handy is the Worlds Matt Linde one and that's Standard.

Unfortunately, the decks listed do not seem to have sideboards but that's okay, we can build those ourelves
Right now, we are in the home stretch for decklists (basically, the hard parts) looking for Tempest, Mirage, and Ice Age decklists.
Again, if anyone has a list for those three blocks --using all three sets (Homelands sadly still included in Ice Age Block) and adhering to the WotC B+R list-- if you can PM to me, Darksteel Underpants, or post them here we would greatly appreciate it.

EDIT: Damn SDA for listing all the decks I wanted to.
That's how to remember my name. Or, you could just read the Discworld Novels by Terry Pratchett. I recommend the second method.:)
And dear god, it's on the INTERNET! It has to be true!
...riight.
I would prefer them to be competetive decks.....top 16 would be fine. As long as I can get at least four for each block.
@SA: I only have the one list to work from for Masque's Rebels. I would appreciate any list to work from. Anything from prior to Odyssey, I don't have a lot of lists to work from. IF you have a list, I'll be glad to see it.
We need some decklists, even if its already one that gets listed. We could use several points of view. That's part of the reason we could use the help.

You're thinking of the amazing Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero from Masques block. Under the old legend rule, Rebel v. REbel games were determined by who got their Sivvi out first nd thus dominated the game. Miss Sivvi was banned from that block.

Yes, please.
What I need are competetive decklists to work from.

Apparently I don't have the Kai Budde list for Wildfire, only a PTR (Szigeti) UBC PTQ list.

Sideboard is to taste, but 2-3 copies of Greater Good to deal with mass enchantment removal.
During our search, we did stumble upon a nice resource for old block decklists...ironically by googling 'Snuff-O-Derm'
http://www.germagic.de/nda/
Unfortunately, the decks listed do not seem to have sideboards but that's okay, we can build those ourelves
Right now, we are in the home stretch for decklists (basically, the hard parts) looking for Tempest, Mirage, and Ice Age decklists.
Again, if anyone has a list for those three blocks --using all three sets (Homelands sadly still included in Ice Age Block) and adhering to the WotC B+R list-- if you can PM to me, Darksteel Underpants, or post them here we would greatly appreciate it.
