Okay am I the only one that thinks #1 should just be printed on a reprint of carnophage? My initial reaction was number 3... but we have enough mass. destruction spells and I wanted something different, because those always cause **** loads to much. I think that 8 is by far the best work of art there. The shadowing and everything is just so god dang amazing. However, I am not sure how well the style would look on a magic card. So I would probably end up going for 2, since I would want to see some type of monkey or ape all pimping in out in Japan (or ravnica, I don't know which set this card will go into). Which brings a good question. Which set will YMTC3 be in?
Wow seems that lots of people like the dust woman, she was a close second with that cool tree, and the ghost, but the lava won it out for me. I just cant stop thinking about what kind of card we could make with that art.

#9 was sooo wierd. too wierd for my taste. i would never want to see that on a card:S
so yah along with the majority i voted #5. runner of would have been the mass destruction looking one.
it wont be in saviors...im thinking it will be maybe the 2nd ravnica set.
hi, pretty good art submissions there. On a first look my choices were: Boom, Dust Lady and Treefolk. Dropped the treefolk because it is mainly predictable what it could become and also YMTC already did a green nature card. Dust lady has been a favorite of the forum and is very interesting on different card types, this I would not mind making the card, next Boom. Boom has many interesting ways to look at it, it could be black, blue or red and effects and mechanics may take various ways to tackle this art.
The others art was good but not as eye catching as those mentioned above. So to make a long story short Dust Lady i think got the looks of a winner, so in order to avoid the mob mentality I choose 3 Boom, may the best art win.

am i the only one who thinks that it sorta forms a bird? i do hope that if it was chosen, a way to get more pheonix's would happen like:
Pheonix Sigal 3RR
Enchantment
3RRR: put a 3/3 red pheonix token with flying and haste into play.
1RR: regenerate target pheonix token.
most likely it would be a burn spell
and #3's focus could be on the person (legendary red wizard that blows stuff up i reckon.)
I voted for number 4, mostly because it just seems kind of abstract to me. It certainly does look red, but hopefully it wouldn't be a generic burn spell. Of course, neither of the previous two YMTC's were generic anything spells, so I doubt that would wind up happening.
Number 5 got my vote, with 4 being a close runner-up and 8 being a touch behind the runner-up. Think 5 does offer enough versatility in the art to not restrict it to much to a card type or color. Its also very beautiful art and is now my new desktop wallpaper.
I see the treefolk portion. For myself, I focused on what the larger tree was doing. It seemed to be protecting the smaller sprout. The meteor tpye stuff reminded me of a stone rain. So I figured it could be the artwork for a card involving land protection or use. For example, tap enchanted land to give target land protection from target instant or sorcery. Just a thought.
After seeing the artwork for YMTC3, I couldn't imagine taking anything other than #4. Yes, yes, yes...the artwork for #5 is amazing. There is no doubt there. However, #4 is so abstract it leaves tons of room for innovation. Maybe it's time to give red something new...and I think this card could do it. Is it just me, or does the color pie suck? I'm tired of it. I don't want that "odd lava" or whatever to become some generic burn spell. I want a 4/4 flying creature for 22RR...that regenerates for RRR. Hell, I'll even take 2 points of burn EVERY upkeep (not just my own) just to play it. Even better...how bout an enchantment for R that deals two points of burn during your own upkeep, but you gain three three during your opponents upkeep? I don't know...something new. I'm rambling. But nonetheless... Yeah, the odd lava thing is nice.
I don't want a boring white sorceress with a stasis-like ability!
Don't vote #5 !!!
...
Stop voting #5 !!! You won't go out with her! It's just a picture!
I am crossed between 4 and 5. I can easily imagine both on a card. 4 would be like a new Glyph cycle or card or something, like "Glyph of the Apocalypse" or something. It seems to scream red in every way, and can be either aggro or even passive. 5 on the other hand screams of efficiency, making it seem like it could be anything, and it would still be a beauiful peice. It could work as any card type, and it leaves the ability up to us.
I think 9 is honestly ugly, in that it reeks of obvious CG, and the same with 1. Both of them have that "Netrunner" feel to them, and while I love 3d in some arts, I think it doesn't work right with Magic. 3 seems alright, but too cartoony. 2 looks like the type of card I could actually expect in magic, while 6 seems a bit... color clashing. 10 I can picture on a card, but seems too similar to past arts. 8 seems like a "Rend Flesh" wannabe, and 7 seems like overboard anime roots (though I love the art).
I guess we'll see though. And again, I don't like 9 >.<

I absolutely think that it's better to choose a piece of art that would make people think about what it means with respect to the card. That leaves out #2, and #3. I also think we shouldn't settle for mediocrity, which cuts out #1, #6, and #9, too. #8 is too busy: to understand what's going on clearly would require too much space on the card, and would leave little design space. #5 and #10 seem to go where we've already been, and it would be disappointing to have to do that just because they look slightly nicer than the rest. #4 and #7 are anything but mediocre and let us tread new paths quite easily. #4 has the disadvantage of being really simplistic, though, and #7 is just a little bit too busy. It would be hard to design a sufficiently elegant spell to justify #4's art, and it would be hard to narrow the significance of #7's pieces into something coherent. Nevertheless, I think one of those two should win because they're good examples of what imagination AND skill can offer.
On the plus side, if the poll here is any indicator, #5 won't win right away, since it doesn't have a majority vote. They'll have to narrow down the field to the most popular picks and #4 might get a second chance.
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'
#6 looks like a rip off of jeff laubenstein who did cards like molting harpy and scragnoth. agree that #5 looks like terese nielsen. but still is the best piece there.
wtf! you think 5 is the best ARTISTICLY! i agree with virgil in that it is compleatly uninteresting, in more than style. From an artists point of view, the only realy well done arts are 8, 3, and 4. the rest are just cartoon junk, well not #9 but that one i'm not realy sure what to think about, it doesn't realy look like a magic card.
Unpopular as it seems, 8 is my favorite. It looks like a nifty new black mechanic to me and nifty new black mechanics are always cool. As is the fact that it inspires a lot of little stories in my head. Next to that, 4 is nice. Scary, 'cause I think it would probably end up being some form of burn and I HATE burn but nice composition. And nice stories.
On the other side 5 is my absolute least favorite. It looks like a fairly good artist sat down and worked out the exact formula for winning this contest, which really really irritates me. And it's the least inspiring one. Very well done, technically, but boring. Other than that, 9 irritates me on a technical level. It makes me think of Eric Carle, you know, "The Very Hungry Catepilar" book?

I think one will win and be used as the YMTC3 and the other 7 may appear throughout the following blocks.
I like #5 for its perfection and possibilites as a magic card but it would be a shame to see #1 not to win. That thing is just plain cool.
I felt it was one of the 2 best pieces of art (the other being the treefolk)...and it's a bit evocative of Gaea's Blessing, which can't be a bad thing
also, 10, 5 , and 4 looked the most proffesional and i hope one of them wins
Actually, it kinda reminds me of a demon fetus, but thats just because I see them all the time in my kinda proffesion

It looks like some awesome seal of fire type thing.
Remember that were not just voting on best art, this will actually become a magic card, so choose the most innovating of them all.
Which is obviously number 4
