I voted #7 because I feel it looks the most interesting, and it's very versatile. It could be the big treefolk as a creature (probably big, certainly green), or it could be about the small tree he's protecting, which could make the card into some sort of protective spell. There also an offchance that it could be some kind of destructive spell, what with the blue lights of doom raining all around.
Is it just me or does number one look alot like Smeagol/Gollum wanting some precious crack? Just a thought...anyways for the art I would definitely choose Number 5. Following close behind would be Number 4 and Number 8.
I kinda looked at each one based upon what color or ability the artwork could be used for.
Art #1(black fishy thing): Black, could be a creature or Terror type ability/spell.
Art #2(Hairy Green dude): Green creature, that's all I see here.
Art #3(BOOOM): BIG effect, probably red.
Art #4(abstract lava): This could be red (burn), white(redirect damage), or black(reanimation). Could be some global effect.
Art #5(Dust Lady): Probably white or black. Could be a creature or a spell.
Art #6(royal icy dude): Blue or Red. I only say red cause they have started giving red "Freezing" damage (glacial ray), so could be a frozen creature. If you look at the guys face, it's a bunch of teeth, weird for a blue creature.
Art #7(Treefolk): It looks Green (treefolk). It's protecting a little bush that has berries on it (counters of some sort?). Could possibly be a white protection spell (blue "flames", pro blue?)
Art #8(blue torch): Blue or Black. Could possibly be an equipment.
Art #9(white/black....uh...thing): White or Black. Creature?
Art #10(Cycloptic lightning): Blue spell or creature.
I came down to #4 & #7, and ended up voting for #7.
I voted number 3 hoping for a 2BB or 3BB mutilate spell >_<
I loved number 5 as well imho looks like old legends stuff my favoite set followed by urza's block.
I couldn't help voting for 5 myself. (I intend to push for a name like "Handful of Dust" in later stages). Wanted to go with 9, but couldn't quite do it...
I voted for 3 AKA Boom!. Granted after looking at it again it screams Obliterate part deux, I still liked the art cause I like blowing up stuff! I didn't think of the implications of the design too much, just picked the art I liked.
#9 is very bizzare and I found the Dust Lady to be a bit too realistic looking. For me, Magic cards have a fantasy look too them and she looked to real I guess. Don't get me wrong, its kick ass art and they can make an uber Legend chick out of her or something. And its not like she isnt fantasy art, its just too realistic for my tastes. Hats off to the artist though!
I hope that one makes it, and it ends up being a black creature, I've got a bit of tweaks I could put with creature abilities on a black creature, and I'm dying to try. :smile2:
as long as it's not 9 or 1 I'll be happy... 1: Smeagle/atog hybrid on crack. 9: Depressed Turd.

Hmm..based purely on the artwork i would say dust lady (5) and blue torch (8)...
art that would be good / interesting as a card i would say dust lady and (9) - whatever the heck its supposed to be - just because these cards have such a broad spectrum of possibilities of effects as cards...
honorable mention: 8 is pretty interesting as a card - could be creature, equipment, enchanment, instant or sorcery..
i voted #9 because its the only one that doesnt go into a specific color so much, well w/b/u, artifact, land, well thats at least more flexible then most
espescially #5 we dont need another lame white damge prevention spell
#9 seems like it could make for some weird cards, along the lines of bizrre of wonders or some other really weird effect
Some of these artwork look very old school and I like, though my faves are 5 and 8, I would be really happy if the card was done multicolor, anyway's art 1 looks like it would fit unholy strengh, art 3 looks like obliterate, and the others are just, meh
i think #7 though could be land destruction too, i dont see why people keep saying it can only be a tree folk, you can make a card around the blue shooting star thingies
Well, awesome. Feel free to edit your post + share with us why you voted as you did, or even attempt to further the discussion with card ideas for the obviously-disgruntled Ent protecting the berry-bearing sapling from the strange blue meteorites falling overhead.

My second choice would've been #4.
