While there are more revisions coming to the set (some as early as this afternoon), most of these revisions are going to be largely to fix wording and grammatical issues, as the bulk of the set is (in my mind) ready for playtesting.
I welcome any and all feedback, as usual, but at this point I'd like to specifically ask those who have the time and interest to assist with the playtesting phase. The MWS plugin will be updated this afternoon, and I'm looking into the possibility of having an OCTGN plugin as well as one for Cockatrice in the near future (if anyone here has firsthand knowledge of how to set these up, and is willing to help, please let me know.)
If you do playtest the set, here a few recommended guidelines:
First, don't use any cards other than what are included in sets 1 and 2 (Caeia and Eldrazi Unleashed). These cards are not meant to be played with the existing WotC card pool and are not balanced to that end in any way.
If you play limited, try to do it in a singleton format. The idea is, these are meant specifically to be drafted in cube (or cube sealed).
If you play, post your decklists! A big part of the playtesting phase will be identifying archetypes, and this helps tons.
One more balance pass has been completed. Very little functionality changes here, just more grammatical fixes. I can't seem to remember to add punctuation, or capitalize subtypes, to save my life.
If you're interested in playtesting, please speak up here. Otherwise, I'll be playtesting in my local playgroup for the next few weeks and will begin posting my preliminary work on the final set within a few weeks.
EDIT: For those of you who are really bored, check out the blog in my signature, as it contains a few previews for set 3.
Im sorry for trolling but ive checked out all these cards are u guys actually working on this set or is it just for "fun"
I'm not sure what you mean. If by working, you mean getting paid etc., then no of course not. If you mean actively putting time, effort, and thought into it, then yes. At the end of the day, yes it's just for fun.
Did some testing tonight... the big winner was mono-black aggro, though it wasn't such a shutout that it feels broken. Anyone have any thoughts on Bloodlust Vampire(quoted below)? Any firsthand experience with the card?
Bloodlust Vampire BB
Creature - Vampire Scout
Flying Purity -- As long as black is the only color among permanents you control, ~ has haste.
2/1
As we've seen, that two drop aggro slot is fairly weak in black. I'm still of the opinion that this creature is fine as is and if you take away either ability it feels a little too weak in comparison. However, if you think it's too strong I would take away the evasiveness rather than the haste. You could take away the flying and give it lifelink (even though a lot of other vampires in the set have it) to make it a useful Child of Night.
Advent, do you have any online plugins to playing the set online? If you don't then I could play a "wall game" with you, thought it would be massively clunky.
Aran: Yeah, I'm not saying I'm convinced it needs to be changed, I'm just hoping for some feedback from other community members. It's still really strong in a black aggro deck (though, as you know, that was our intent)
Prophylaxis: MWS plugins are available on the same page where the set links are located. I'm hoping to take some time and figure out how to do OCTGN and Cockatrice plugins, but my limited time with those systems has been nothing but confusing.
If anyone out there wants to help create plugins, I would be much appreciative. Else, I definitely plan on getting some out but it might be awhile.
Finally, also listed on the 'my sets' page of my blog is a link to the (in progress) set file for the 3rd and final set of the block, for anyone who's interested in looking ahead to see the direction some of this stuff is going, or for those wanting to pitch in and help with the design. I'll likely be having this thread closed and will start the 3rd thread in earnest by the end of next week.
Although this will no doubt continue to change and be updated as a result of playtesting, I am marking it as 'released' (albeit in beta form) and asking the mods to close this topic. Continued discussion should be directed here.
I will comment on more cards soon.
