Was thinking about making a mechanic or theme that bundles some different card advantage and manipulation effects together as a trigger and I wanted to include draw as well as effects that put cards into your hand from your library like Strategic Planning or tutors, or from your graveyard like Regrowth. So I thought it could be "Whenever you draw a card or put a card into your hand".
But it occurs to me that drawing a card is putting a card into your hand in some sense at least and so I am wondering how that would work in the rules, would drawing a card count or not?
Short answer, yes, drawing a card is putting it into your hand, but not all cards going to your hand is drawing (like all how squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares).
Wording wise, there is precedent for including both phrasings on the ability from Amonket with cards like Horror of the Broken Lands, where even though you discard the card to cycle it, the effect was worded so people would not somehow think that cycling wasn't discarding.

Yeah that makes sense.

I was considering this. I guess the question is how likely people are to think drawing a card doesn't count as putting a card into your hand.
