Okay, it is clearly a modified Hex, but i invented for the sake of asking:
I target a river boa with Hexfire, six times. does it cost 6 to keep him alive?
If it does, hex woulda been cooler as Hexfire.

The answer is actually that just one regeneration is needed -- although the spell targets the same creature six times, it only creates only destroy "event." (If it read, "Destroy target creature. Then, destroy target creature ... " it would be different.)

Of course, "Destroy up to six target creatures" is far more obvious in what it does, and significantly more concise. I'm sure WotC knew it was a possible wording, and for whatever reasons decided to not word Hex that way.

They do this so there MUST be 6 creatures in play to cast Hex.
