How does this card-making game work? It's simple! Whenever your card receives a vote in the day's poll, you receive [1] point for the month. If your card ends up with the most votes for that day, you will receive [2] additional points for the month. In the event of a tie, each person who tied receives [1] additional point. At the end of each month, the person with the most points on the scoreboard wins that month, then the scoreboard is cleared for the next month. You can participate in as many or as few days as you want in any month.
Rules
Each day you may post any card you want. On the next day all of the posted cards will be put into a poll the thread as long as your card didn't get disqualified - see the next point for more details. If you post more than one card in a DCC thread, only the first card you post will be taken.
When you vote, you need to make exactly two votes for two different people. Vote for the cards that are listed in the first post, not other cards being posted in the thread. If you notice that you've only voted for one person, include your second vote in a post, even if you're not submitting a card.
If you want to change your vote for any reason, post that change in the day's thread (you can include it with your card if you want). Changed votes in the discussion thread will be ignored.
Voting for only one person, for three or more people, or for yourself will earn you an asterisk by your name in the monthly leaderboard. So will failing to vote if you've posted a card. (We're not going to do anything about people who don't vote or post cards; that would be kind of silly.) This indicates that you're on probation for the next 21 days. If you're on probation and you make another improper vote, your card will be disqualified. Repeated disqualification is grounds for warnings and/or infractions for not following the game rules, so please don't do it.
Voting for everything in the poll will be grounds for a lifetime ban from the DCC. Don't do it. It just wastes the thread creators' time.
If you wish to post a render, please use the hyperlink option when posting your card and make the card name the image link. Renders are usually large enough to clog up the list, so submit a text-formed card and (optionally) a link in the name to the render.
This thread is just for your card submission. Take your questions/comments to our discussion thread. If it's a question, comment, or complaint about probation, PM me instead and I'll explain it.
Anyone can post the new thread for the day. When you post it, make sure that:
You have a poll in the thread;
You include everyone's cards (excluding cards that have been disqualified);
The poll is marked as public and multiple choice with a one-day time limit; and
You update the leaderboard with the previous day's scores.
(An easy way to post the new thread is to hit the multiquote button on every post in the previous day's thread, then click Post Reply. Select everything in this post, copy it, and then paste it into the first post for a new thread. You'll have to clean up a few small things, like quote tags around the opening post and the previous day's cards.)
Notes of the Day
I HAVE RECTIFIED MY ERROR FROM SEVERAL DAYS AGO. THE CASE OF EBONTAIL'S MISSING POINT! TERRIBLY SORRY THAT IT HAS TAKEN INORDINATELY LONG.
Leyline of Power2GG
Enchantment - (R)
If Leyline of Power is in your opening hand, you may begin the game with it on the battlefield.
At the beginning of your upkeep, you may get an energy counter.
Risky Transplant(U/B)G
Enchantment — Aura (U)
Enchant non-artifact creature
Enchanted creature gets +1/+0, and can block an additional creature each combat.
Sacrifice another creature: Enchanted creature gains deathtouch until end of turn, and can block an additional creature this turn. The Simic and Golgari both claim the procedure was stolen by the other. Either way, something was definitely stolen.
Sagharri — I think you mean "Brutal Awakening", but regardless, I love this thing. Especially in Amonkhet limited. It's flavorful and multipurpose. Does everything right. StonerOfKruphix - It's so simple, and yet so rich with possibilities. I prefer voting for cards that impress (without going overboard), but I can't NOT vote for this. Ruggley - Great concept and basic design. I can't put my finger on it, but it still feels... a tiny tad awkward. Would have gotten my vote in a less amazing field than this one. Indighost - Man, I wanted so bad for Cinder to read "...where X is the number of cards in its controller's hand". Still totally fine, though.
Hellion Eruption1R
Sorcery (u)
Destroy target artifact or nonbasic land. Its controller creates a 4/4 red hellion creature token. I remember when eruptions had less teeth. And smelled less bad.
- Downturg Mons, Warren Elder
Jedit, Guardian of Efrava1WW
Legendary Creature — Cat Spirit
Vigilance
Jedit, Guardian of Efrava enters the battlefield with a number of shield counters on it equal to the amount of mana spent to cast it.
Remove a shield counter from Jedit: Target creature gains indestructible until end of turn.
(3/3) "In life, he led the charge. In death, he is with us all."
Hedonistic EmbraceBR
Enchantment (R)
Spells you control cost 3 less to cast.
Whenever you cast a spell from your hand, that spell deals 2 damage to you and you discard a card. "Welcome to Ayinor folks, the leylines on this world possess an intoxicating aspect that leave people with lower inhibitions. It's the perfect place for certain overworked persons to unwind for a change." -Kap Valnur
Spiritual Blade3
Aetifact - Equipment (C)
Possessed (While this isn't equipped to a creature, it's a 1/1 Spirit creature in addition to its other types, and replace all instances of "equipped" with "this".)
Equipped creature gets +1/+1.
Equip 1
Sustain with BloodB
Enchantment (Uncommon)
Sacrifice a Human: Put a +1/+1 counter on target Vampire creature. It gains indestructible until end of turn. "Human and vampires are unwillingly bounded by fate. We are lovers who can't be together..."
- Satia, Markov Arch-Maiden
Bidirectional Insight1UG
Sorcery (U)
Draw a card, then return target card from your graveyard to your hand. Yesterday's knowledge serves tomorrow's goals.
Votes for Rudyard and netn10 (though, as a one-shot Counterbalance, I'd think UU would be the more appropriate cost.)
Magma Totemspeaker -- 3RR
Creature -- Lizard Shaman (U)
When Magma Totemspeaker enters the battlefield, create a Totem artifact token.
Totems you control have "R, T: This artifact deals 1 damage to target creature."
2/2
Votes: Rudyard, Groovelord (I think this should be rare though)
Avatar of the Damned
Creature - Avatar (MR)
Flying
During each player's upkeep, that player sacrifices all other creatures he or she controls.
When there are no creatures in any graveyard, sacrifice Avatar of the Damned.
Sacrifice a creature: Exile up to two target creatures from any graveyard. Any player may play this ability.
5/7
Oracle's VisionsU
Sorcery (U)
Each player looks at the top three cards of their library, puts any number of them into his or her graveyard and the rest back on top of his or her library in any order.
Draw a card.
To know what the fates have designed for you is one thing, to change it quite another.
Today a guy came up to me and asked me if I sold ketamine. I was shocked, because I was at Uni with some friends, just chillin' between classes, and it was freakin' noon. It's one of those things that makes you reflect on how other people see you. Like, do I really appear as the kind of guy who sold K? I hope this was a one-time thing.
Stern Crop-Master2RW
Creature - Human Soldier (R)
Vigilance
Whenever a creature you control attacks, you may exert that creature. (It won't untap during your next untap step.)
Whenever you exert a creature, that creature gets +2/+0 and gains first strike until end of turn. "Only through your efforts you will prove worthy of the God-Pharaoh's reward."
3/3
When Shrubland enters the battlefield add C to your mana pool
t: Add W or G to your mana pool.
While trying to ponder how powerful a dual land could be without being a functional reprint i came up with this card except it had land subtypes and gave you one of the two colored manas (static, not your choice, W for this one) when it ETB'd.
I stripped subtypes cus they were unnecessary for its function.
And the colorless mana makes the ETB mana less arbitrary, an issue otherwise dealt with by requiring 10 duals for friendly color pairs and 10 more for enemy.
Prophet of Bathal3B
Creature - Minotaur Cleric [Rare]
Sorcery spells and Demon spells you control cost 2 less to cast.
You cannot cast instant spells or spells with flash.
2/3
Inspired CarnageRW
Instant (U)
Creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn.
Until end of turn, whenever you exert a creature, that creature gets +1/+0 and gains first strike until end of turn.
Book of Yawgmoth3
Legendary Artifact - Book (M)
Pay 1 life, T: Add B to your mana pool. B, Pay 2 life, T: Draw a card. 2B, Pay 3 life, T, Exile Book of Yawgmoth: Until end of turn, you may play cards from your graveyard. If a card would be put into your graveyard from anywhere this turn, exile that card instead. Play this ability as a sorcery. These ancient texts are not to be trifled with. One's essence corrupted with a single utterance. Well, maybe just a peak.
Vulcas, Eccentric Apprentice1BGU
Legendary Creature -- Human Wizard (M)
Spiders, Insects, Frogs, Lizards and Snakes you control get +1/+1.
At the beginning of your upkeep, you may put a Spider, Insect, Frog, Lizard or Snake creature card with converted mana cost 3 or less from your hand onto the battlefield. "Ludevic thought me too mad to teach. But he was too sane to truly learn!"
2/4
Displace Matter
Sorcery (R)
Exile target nonland permanent you don't control. Its' controller may put a permanent from their graveyard onto the battlefield tapped. "We will remove whatever stands in our way, what returns in its' place though, we will.... well, we will deal with that when it comes"
-A reckless Dimir adept
PamperGW
Instant (U)
Prevent all damage that would be dealt to or dealt by target creature this turn. Put a +1/+1 counter on that creature at the beginning of the next end step.
Atogstorm (banging flavor text)
Ilgreven (i like how it synergizes with yesterdays card yet does something different, a parasitic mechanic but worth it.)
Nissa, One with Nature GGG
Planeswalker-Nissa (M)
+1 Put a land token with "t:add 1 to your mana pool" onto the battlefield tapped.
-2 Search your library for a creature card, reveal it and put it in your hand.
-X Return X cards from your graveyard to your hand. Exile Nissa, One with Nature. 3
Why are there no land tokens?
Originally i was making plainswalkers that gave out weaker emblems more often and for green my emblem was essentially a colorless (or sometimes green) mana rock. So i asked myself, why can't this just be a land token? ETB tapped and colorless mana keeps it subdued.
Her second ability is all she has for protection. Later in the game she can tutor an answer and cast the creature.
Her ultimate is different in that it is varaible, it can be used immediately, and it removes her regardless of how high her loyalty is.
i know shes weak protecting herself, hence 3 cmc. This enables an early game where she can live thru an attack by going +1 first turn, later she'll have to use her second ability.
GGG keeps abuse of her abilities lower, while makimg the 3 cmc a tad more constraining.
made this card a while ago (before BFZ) story wise it was her summoning extra wild mana from zendikar, using that mana to call forth elves and beasts to fight eldrazi and then sacrificing herself to save everyone and give them a second chance deus ex machina style.
atogstorm: Wow, clever design. It LOOKS like a 1CMC cantrip, since the other effect is totally symmetrical. But that card you draw is made more valuable by the "grave scry" you get beforehand. And yet, not totally broken, I don't think. Ebontail: Simple, powerful but fair, good in all formats... Yep, this is a well-done dual-land. It feels more like an uncommon without the subtypes, though. Indighost: Should probably say "Exerted creatures you control get +1/+0 and gain first strike until end of turn", so they'll still get the benefit if you play this after declaring them as attackers. An instant that de-incentivizes playing it at instant speed is meh.
Spellbane Mercenary1U
Creature — Human Wizard Mercenary (U) T: Return target spell an opponent controls to its owner's hand, then draw a card. That player gains control of Spellbane Mercenary. Nothing like a little friendly sabotage to improve the students' research skills.
2/1
Shield of the MentorW
Sorcery
Create an Aura enchantment token with enchant creature and totem armor attached to a creature you control.
Flashback 1G (You may cast this card from your graveyard for its flashback cost. Then exile it.)
Etana, Visier of the ForgottenWUBR
Legendary Creature - Human Cleric (Mythic)
Embalm abilities you activate cost 0 to activate.
Spells you cast with aftermath cost 0 to cast. WUBR: Put target exiled card into its owner's graveyard. "The gods decide who will be remembered and who isn't, but it's me who have the final word."

Creature -- Human Shaman (C)
