I opened one last year, got two crap worldwake packs and 8x scathe zombies, which I promptly hid around my sister's apartment for her roommates to find. But, yeah, it was a piece of crap.
You, sir, have just won the internet. Congratulations.
Sir Karn - Simple, if a bit strange... so basically you get a powerful but fragile flyer, seems to fit the challenge though. *nod nod*
Maokun - Only major problem with it that I can see if you forgot the targeting parameters on your Aura, which is a major problem, besides that it is quiet a decent card though.
drewdagreek - Maybe a little on the cheap side, but I do love the concept of it, depending on your field, it could be an interesting way to gain card advantage.... unless you draw the card you returned
Raikou Rider - Simple twist on changing what essentially was a Think Twice into a enchantment of sorts, a bit cheaper even.
Phyrexian Editor - This is one of the silliest cards I have seen in awhile, but I absolutely love it xD. Minor error with templating(extra : where it was not needed), but besides that I love it!
Black_Megatog - Bulltamers Charm just seems like... Fun! =D I can't really think of what else to say about it.
Profani - Interesting card, it just doesn't feel right to me for some reason...
aurorasparrow - Oh wow... just... wow... that is brilliant... I love it! and my mind is already trying to break it in a non-obvious way... like putting it in a blue white deck with Anthems and that one enchantment that turns all artifacts into creatures
Cythare: This is way overcosted. Unless I'm missing something here, how would this ever be better than Fervor? You could easily cost this at RW, both because it's multicolor, and it's restricted to only flying creatures.
willows: This seems pretty useless most of the time. Definitely overcosted, and still not very good if it were reduced cost.
TacticalCelebrant: That's fine. Not exactly interesting though.
L0ng5h0t: That's quite interesting. I enjoy it.
Koopa: Seems pretty fair. A lot of shuffling though, and that's pretty discouraged.

Ink-Treader
Catalyst Amulet1
Artifact - Equipment (U)
Spells targeting equipped creature cost 1 less to cast.
Equip 1 "It assists in the application of many spells. What could go wrong?"
Critique: There is potential for fun here, but I think it's overshadowed by the potential for bad feelings when your opponent can all of a sudden drop a dude *and* drop your creature. This does seem like the kind of thing an mad inventor would cook up in his workshop, though--I have to give you that.
Moss_Elemental
Grifter's Dagger 2
Artifact - Equipment (U)
Equipped creature gets +1/+1 4: Exchange Grifter's Dagger with an Equipment card in your hand.
Equip 2 "Don't worry. I got my secret weapon."
Critique: This seems very swingy. The ideal situation would be to equip this, then switch it with a Sword, I suppose, since it wouldn't work with Batterskull (Living Weapon doesn't have a "you may" clause when attaching it to the Germ). Or you could put the 'Skull right into play, but is that worth 1 more and a card slot (not to mention it doesn't feel very flavorful to be able to do this without the Dagger equipped)? Maybe I'm undervaluing the worth of a surprise equipment, but the payoff doesn't seem worth the risk to me, and I think I'd just rather run an Equipment that's good on its own or a guy to hold it. Clever idea, and again, something a wily tinkerer would come up with in his lab, but I think some costs need to be changed here.
ahyangyi
Amulet of Life and Death2
Artifact - Equipment [U]
Equipped creature's toughness is 1.
Equipped creature has "W: prevent the next 1 damage that would be dealt to this creature."
Equipped creature has "B: the next time this creature is dealt damage, target player loses as much life."
Equip 2 This small thing has the power of life, the power of death, but not both.
Critique: This is tough. I love the space you're exploring here, but the hoops this makes you jump through seem less than ideal. It's unfortunate that setting the toughness to 1 is so necessary to make this card work since it makes the card a bit too risky, but I'm glad the you were able to recognize that you had to add it to make your card work like you wanted. I can't see myself enjoying this particular card, but I could see myself enjoying ones with a similar thought process, and I feel like I have to reward your mechanical creativity.
Rithaniel
Wind Mirror2
Artifact U T: Add 1 to your mana pool. ,T, Sacrifice Wind Mirror: Put a land card from your hand onto the battlefield. It reflects everything as it may one day be.
Critique: I'm afraid I don't have much to say here. I'd never be excited to run this card, but I'd never feel bad either, and I dig the flavortext. Good job.
Gerrard's Mom
Blessing of VigorG
Enchantment (C)
At the beginning of each combat, choose target creature you control. That creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn. The elves of the Carrelwood have a god for every hour of the day, and each picks a god to follow in the hopes that they will be blessed during that hour.
Critique: This should be Uncommon, since having more than one of these out (especially with different controllers) could lead to a lot of unfun combat steps when folks can't remember which creatures have the bonus. Also, what's the benefit of your current wording over "...each combat, target creature you control gets +1/+1 until end of turn"? Other than that, a well-designed card.
MirrorEntity
Blinding Mirror2
Artifact (U)
Whenever you attack with one or more creatures, you may pay 2. If you do, tap target creature you don't control. ,Sacrifice Blinding Mirror: Tap each creature you don't control.
Critique: I like leaving off "you don't control" from the first ability. It lessens the wordiness without changing the functionality, except to add the possibility of realizing that one moment when the right play is to tap your own creature and feeling like a Gee-Dee genius. The second ability feels a little expensive (Blustersquall only costs 4, and it can be a surprise), but since it's just added value it's fine. A nice if not terribly innovative card.
Cardz5000
Essence of Spring :sym2g::sym2g:
Artifact (U)
Essence of Spring enters the battlefield, or is destroyed you may search your library for a basic land card an put it onto the battlefield tapped
Evoke :sym2g::sym2g::sym2g:
Critique: This rides a weird line between a Wellspring and an Evoke creature, lacking the best parts of each. If you don't have a way to sac it, then not Evoking always feels worse (and adds a card to the board that doesn't do anything), and if you do have a way to sac it, then Evoke is unnecessary. Plus, Evoke creatures were fun because they essentially had three modes (spell, creature + spell, or sometimes you just want Wispmare as a 1/3 flyer), while yours has one-and-a-half (spell or slightly bigger spell). I do like where you were headed, but the execution didn't quite get there this time. Also, mind your details (missing "Whenever" at the front, and as someone else mentioned "is destroyed" should be "dies" to work with Evoke like you intended).
Monkey Playing MTG
Landseeker Compass {U}
Artifact
Landfall - Scry 2 "I wouldn't say it's necessary... but I've never seen an expedition with one of these fall afoul of the land." - Talek, Expedition Captain
Critique: At 3 this would have been fairly costed, but alas it wasn't there, and I have to judge on the card as submitted, and with no given cost I have to DQ it. Other issues: as someone else noted, the flavor is a little off, and Landfall is an ability word and not a keyword, so unfortunately even though we all know what it means, strictly speaking you're supposed to actually write out "Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control..." Nice card, I hope you get all the parts in place for your cards in the next few rounds!
Conduit Grid2
Artifact (U)
Conduit Grid and other artifacts you control have "T: Add 1 to your mana pool." "What is the true purpose of artifice? Is it to solve the big
problems of our world or is it to ease our everyday life?" Tra
wondered as he looked at his newest contraption. "And more
importantly: Which category does this thing belong to?"
This seems kind of powerful. Admittedly it is limited to the amount of artifacts you control, but this should probably cost 3 or 4.
Energy Coils3
Artifact {U}
Whenever a player casts a non-creature spell from their hand, put a charge counter on Energy Coils.
Remove a charge counters from Energy Coils: Add 1 to your mana pool. "Excess residual mana recollected for your convenience," - Instruction Manual
This also seems a little strong. On one hand, flashback won't trigger it, but on the other, it triggers on any player casting a non-creature spell. Since it is a little limited though, this might just work.
Amateurs Gauntlets 3
Artifact-Equipment (U)
Equipped creature gets +2/+0 and has "When this creature attacks, flip a coin. If the flip results in heads, this creature gains double strike until end of turn."
Equip 3 "It doesn't always work, but when it does...wow!"
-Artificer Harold
It's ever so slightly cheaper than a Bonesplitter + Fireshrieker, and it's on one card. This doesn't seem overpowered, but I know people may not be fond of the hit or miss factor, so you might have been able to get away with the same costs as the Fireshrieker.
Anneal Mantra :2mana::symwg:
Enchantment - Aura (C)
Enchant creature
If enchanted creature has First Strike, it gains Reach.
If enchanted creature has Lifelink, it gains Trample.
If enchanted creature has Vigilance, it gains Deathtouch. "What you want is merely an extension of what you already have but don't know how to use properly yet." - Femeref expression
Definitely an uncommon. Though it is a little more splashable than Asha's Favor, this might even cost :1mana::symwg: due to the odds of actually giving all 3 abilities being a little low. I like it, even if there's a small selection creatures (2 actual, then you have Cairn Wanderer and Batterskull) that can achieve the dreaded trample/deathtouch combo with it.
Seal of Dissolution UU
Enchantment (C)
Sacrifice Seal of Dissolution: Return target nonland permanent and all cards attached to it to their owners hands.
Ah seals... Simple and effective. This is probably balanced, though it's a little odd that it doesn't seem to be based on an existing card (that I can find anyways). I like it.
Tax Seal WW
enchantment [r]
When tax seal enters the battlefield choose a card type.
Cards of the chosen type cost 1 more to play.
Sacrifice tax seal: counter target spell of the chosen type unless its controller pays 1.
The counter is a little weird in white, but white certainly could have a counter like that. It IS supposed to be uncommon or common though, so you did not actually fulfill the challenge.
VeiledAssassin
Arcbound Recycler 4
Artifact Creature - Golem (U)
Remove X +1/+1 counters from Arcbound Recycler, T: Return an artifact from your graveyard to the battlefield with a converted mana cost of X.
Modular 2 (This enters the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it. When it’s put into a graveyard, you may put its +1/+1 counters on target artifact creature.)
It only broke a little b...ZAP!

Conservation Shield 2
Artifact (U)

Finally all those explosions would be good for something.

Full Transparency UU
Enchantment (U)
Players play with the top card of their library and their hand revealed.
UU: Each player shuffles his or her library. Activate this ability only once each turn.
For once, let's be completely honest with each other.
VeiledAssassin: The ability is at odds with modular. It's not a huge flaw, but one worth noting.
clcallag: Nice flavor, creates interesting game situations. Good job.
Cythare: Considering we have Fervor, this card is super underwhelming.
willows: The second ability being relevant is, well, uncommon. Not a huge flaw.
TacticalCerebrant: Considering this is an anthem variant, I'd be inclined to make this a white rare. I would like to see this card printed.
L0ng5h0t: Pretty good flavor that creates interesting scenarios. Red never gets to remove attackers from combat, slight penalty there.
Koopa: This card essentially lets you fateseal for UU, while having prior knowledge of your opponent's top card. With UUUU you have a very good chance of locking your opponent into lands each turn. There's also the gameplay consideration of all that shuffling, which can be fixed by bottoming the top card instead.
Sir Karn:I like this. It fits the flavor and requirements of the challenge yet is quite playable in some cases.
Maokun: Forgot the 'enchant creature' clause, but I'm not gonna penalize you for it. I like this card, it also works well with the challenge and is fun for limited.
drewdagreek: This in some cases can be quite powerful, but it works quite well. I don't like that it can be used at instant speed, however.
Raikou Rider: This card is simple and rings true to the challenge. Nice job.
Phyrexian Editor: I don't like this card. It's a bit confusing and the cycling seems out of place. Why can't I cycle for red mana?
Black_Megatog: This is kinda cool. Maybe fun in limited.
Profani: Shouldn't equipped creature be able to tap for mana? This is a bit confusing, but I like it. Maybe the equip cost is too low?
aurorasparrow:This is a great representation of the flavor challenge and works well in casual play and possibly competitive/limited play. Nice job!

Sorry about the critiques, got real busy over the weekend. So here's my top 3
1> Moss_Elemental
2> ahyangyi
3> Gerrard's Mom
Ink-Treader - This card meets all of the round requirements, with humor to boot. It could definitely set up some interesting card interactions, sadly most of them for your opponent. Still an interesting card
Moss Elemental - I really like this card. It like turns my creatures into James Bond. "Mr Bond, this dagger looks ordinary, but if you twist the handle just so.. Viola. Sword of Fire and Ice." I only have a small flavor nit pick where Grifting to me implies swapping with your opponent not yourself.
ahyangyi - I can almost see this card being printed. It's the kind of card that has a subtle kind of power. I like it.
Rithaniel - This is a well designed card for this challenge. Good balance and decent flavor.
Gerrard's Mom - The power level seems good for a common. And as a common I like the flavor. I'd like it better if it applied +1/+1 counters, but as it is it's still pretty good for limited.
MirrorEntity - I like this, but it feels slightly undercosted giving a white ability to any other color. 3 maybe. Beyond that the flavor feels right and I like the Overload-like feel
Cardz5000 - This could have been an interesting card, but it is fatally flawed I think. If I read the rules properly, the Evoke cost forces you to sac it when it comes into play which wouldn't trigger the is destroyed ability. So at best it's Rampant Growth that also adds to your artifact count. At worst it's a really expensive Rampant Growth that can be played by any color. Not to mention that any time a player searches their library, he or she should always shuffle it afterwards.
Monkey Playing MTG - This is a powerful card. The ability to add some semblance of control to your draws for the incredible cost of FREE is nothing short of amazing. The power level seems a bit high for uncommon, but the real problem here is no mana cost on the card. Unless this is by design, I can't properly judge this cards balance.<edit> So... for 3, this card is definitely overpowered. Maybe if you had an activation cost of some kind it would help balance it out.
Ink-Treader: Not bad, would be nice if it added hexproof and cost a bit more for that.
Moss_Elemental: It's not bad. I can see this being used heavily in an equipment deck.
ahyangyi: I like it, but flavor doesn't mesh with the card itself.
Rithaniel: Can be abused with duals, but other than that, I would run 4 of.
Gerrard's Mom: Love the flavor, love the use, but should probably be uncommon and cost 1 more.
MirrorEntity: The sacrifice ability could be a bit less, and I can't see this as uncommon, but I would probably toss a couple in the SB as an emergency backup.
Cardz5000: Should have been an enchantment. A few errors, but not bad nonetheless.
Monkey Playing MTG: Love the usability (works well in deck stacking), the flavor is amusing. Only flaw to me is that it feels more rare and your not really 'looking' for lands, but scrying when you put a land down.

This is a lot of fun, ramping out the artifacts with more artifacts. Good choice for the rarity.
Arcel
I'm not entirely sure why this is non-creature and from the hand. It seems overcosted and a little too complicated.
coolgriff14
This isn't terrible, but I know some players wouldn't like the swingy aspect. Other players will really like suiting up a guy and trying to go in for a big attack every turn though.
pstmdrn
Decent trick I guess, it's a fine common.
herbert west
This is creative, but very strange. It gives green abilities if they have white abilities? Hybrid seems strange, white decks can just get green abilities out of it.
teraparsec
I suppose this is interesting to slow down opposing equipment or save an Aura on your guy, but I don't know if it's worth an extra mana over Seal of Removal.
Eskimo_Rage
Card had to be common or uncommon, and the rules are confusing on this one as well, since the sacrifice does add more mana but it's a little counter-intuitive.
Atrius
This is way better than Icy Manipulator, since it effectively adds vigilance to one of your guys for less initial cost and no activation cost.

This seems kind of powerful. Admittedly it is limited to the amount of artifacts you control, but this should probably cost 3 or 4.
This also seems a little strong. On one hand, flashback won't trigger it, but on the other, it triggers on any player casting a non-creature spell. Since it is a little limited though, this might just work.
It's ever so slightly cheaper than a Bonesplitter + Fireshrieker, and it's on one card. This doesn't seem overpowered, but I know people may not be fond of the hit or miss factor, so you might have been able to get away with the same costs as the Fireshrieker.
Fairly innocuous. Compared to Niveous Wisps though, this might cost 2 instead. Otherwise, I quite like it.
Ah seals... Simple and effective. This is probably balanced, though it's a little odd that it doesn't seem to be based on an existing card (that I can find anyways). I like it.
The counter is a little weird in white, but white certainly could have a counter like that. It IS supposed to be uncommon or common though, so you did not actually fulfill the challenge.
Seems very easy to abuse with Aphetto Alchemist and the like.

Nice job!

The power level seems a bit high for uncommon,
but the real problem here is no mana cost on the card. Unless this is by design, I can't properly judge this cards balance.<edit> So... for 3, this card is definitely overpowered. Maybe if you had an activation cost of some kind it would help balance it out.CCL Winner- July '08, Aug '08 Sept '08, Oct '08
Survivor- CCS: Lost in Takenuma, CCS: Stranded In Tolaria
