Azorius and Gruul seem the most suspicious to me, and Orzhov afterwards. Azorius seems to have gone for challenge 3 but in those colors should have been able to mechanically express that challenge way more easily than what's been submitted. Gruul's design makes sense if you consider truffle hunting pigs, but the flavor text seems tacked on to help support the card rather than the other way around.
Orzhov just confuses me because of the flavor - is Lavinia happy that Orzhov is getting away with secrets she doesn't know, or is she using the Orzhov to hide her own secrets away? It just seems sketchy to me.
I had thought about voting off Azorius, but from my analyses of everyone else's posts, particularly those I'm suspicious of, I'm thinking BlazingRagnarok/Gruul should probably go. I'm still suspicious of Selesnya, Rakdos and Azorius though, and will keep an eye out for them.
Selesnya and Azorius are the stand outs to me, both seem pretty generic and really dependent on their flavor text to drive it home, but azorius seem like the more out there one.
Gruul, Azorius, and selesnya look the worst, here.
Except then I read Izzet.
What challenge does Izzet even satisfy?
I think it's supposed to find fblthp (who in this case would be a 1 power creature). It's not super overt about explaining how it fills the challenge which makes me inclined to think it's just oddly designed rather than edited to fit the quests, but I could always be wrong.
Whoa. Didn't expect such collective effort against me. I'd clearly say this is a work of Bolas Agents, but at least two of cards made by these players seem passable. Rakdos entry, however, raises questions. The same for Seleznya and Gruul entries. But in my opinion, Gruul entry fits the challenge right well.
I guess I can explain why at least Cardz5000 voted against me, and it really looks suspicious when the Dimir house is mentioned, because it makes it look like we are on the different sides. Which is true for regular days of Ravnica but maybe not for today.
So I think we should exile Rakdos representative. It's totally not personal, but if you think about it, it's hard to explain which quest does it try to imply here.
Izzet is perfectly fine, since it does mechanically what the Flavor of the quest required. Rakdos/Jones is the most generic, but so is mine. Selesnya here.
What even is Boros/Void card doing?
But Azorius/Raptorchan is definitely trying to cover up a generic card with flavor me thinks, sorry my Bolas Compatriot but I got to throw you under the bus.
I'm going to tell you what you can expect from me.
I'll try to analyze each card, but I can't promise to do it every round.
I'm going to be harsh on Magic design rules, and may lynch on this principle. My thought process is: taking a story and designing for it is easier than taking a card and designing for a story you don't know. Thus, Guildpact cards should be more elegant in Magic terms. Also, I would be personally annoyed if the game was won by Selesnya Lava Spike or Rakdos Counterspell
On the other hand, not fitting the story perfectly is not necessarily ultimately dooming. I feel we may add parts of a card to mislead Bolas, if we feel the flavor is going to carry us through the challenge as opposed to them.

I don't like the color break for blue to tutor its library for a creature. Panic much? Maybe.

Search for Fblthp in opponent's library seems legit, but "Choose a card name" is very convenient. You can add basically any flavor to match what you look for. Fine for now.
So, of course, there are 9 Bolas agents and me What I really don't like is Cantripmancer/Mergatroid_Jones/BlazingRagnarok triangle of inspiration and two generic designs, Aleto and Raptorchan. Out of those two groups, worst offenders are Mergatroid and Aleto. I'd like to dismantle Bolas inspirations first, though. Vote: Mergatroid_Jones
So no more than one post with vote or no more than one post at all? It would be hard to have a conversation like this, you know. If grand arbiter Dovin was here, I can only imagine how many flaws would he detect in a system like this.
No, look at the Mafia page. You can talk as long and as frequently as you want, and change votes until the votes are counted, but you can't edit your posts, to make sure noone tries to change the past and tries to lie in this way ("I never said that we should vote for Mergatroid_Jones, I was telling he's good the whole time!"), and you can double post to add something to already sent message, even though it's against the rules of this forum (CCC).
Cantripmancer - Unusual design in a number of ways that does, to be fair, seem to be looking for parameters that would theoretically fit Fblthp. That flavor text doesn't feel like Ravnica at all, never mind not feeling like the Izzet. Lean Guildpact
Subject16 - This feels specifically like a Trygon and a courier. I feel good about calling Subject16 safe. Solidly Guildpact
Cardz5000 - "Imagination", from the Nephilim? Never mind imaginative, they're basically not sapient - mindless forces of primal magic. Something is very wrong with this flavor. Lean Bolas
Mergatroid_Jones - At first blush, the effect and flavor text strongly put this as something that was designed as a Rakdos version of information transfer. On the other hand, the name is all wrong - where's the "gala"? Lean Guildpact
Raptorchan - Knowing Raptorchan, Diplomatic Mail is the kind of card name he'd come up with apropos of any challenge, so no help there. The effect is generic, yes, but the flavor text seems to me to point towards "original to the card". Neutral/Lean Guildpact
zdtsd - I'm feeling the information transfer very well from the effect here. Solidly Guildpact
Amuzet - What is that flavor text? Is this supposed to meet the Fblthp or information challenge? Solidly Bolas
Superbajt - I'm not sure whether the Totally Lost in the flavor text should convince me it was original or tacked on. Neutral
BlazingRagnarok - I've said my peace on this. It feels like this was a Bolas agent design with the assumption that one of the challenges would somehow involve combat. Solidly Bolas
It seems to me like our Gruul, Selesnya, and Dimir players are the Bolas agents at this stage. I beg everyone to reconsider voting for Raptorchan, because there's not a lot of evidence either way for him and plenty of evidence for BlazingRagnarok. Unlike real Mafia, we actually have something to go on for the first vote round, and we should take advantage of that.
OK so Azorius and Simic seem the most suspicious, followed by Selesnya and Rakdos. I think Azorius is just too generic, Vote: Azorius. That can actually satisfy any of the three quests with its current flavor, and I don't think guildpact does that.
Also, my bad putting Lavinia instead of Lazav in the flavor text. I apparently typed the wrong name.
I think you might all be making a mistake. If Raptorchan turns out to be on the Bolas side, feel free to criticize me, but I really suspect others considerably more strongly than I do him.
See? Subject16 just edited his post. He was voting for Raptorchan and changed it after Void's comment. For me, it looks suspicious. I prefer clarity in my hidden role games, so the lies need to be consistent. Now, he can claim whatever he wants. It would be better if everything that was said was saved, so the thought process of everyone is clear.
Whoa, looks like I'm in the crosshairs here. Not that getting this particular design crapped on is any different from the reactions to the "out-there" ideas I put on CCC every so often. I knew going in that my mediocre designs and love for interpretive flavor were more likely to get me eliminated than anything else. Oh well, guess getting knocked out would be one less thread to check.
I don't have time to give a comprehensive review of every entry right now, but Azorius and Izzet stand out to me at first glance, the former for being generic and the latter for being an assault to the color pie. That right there is a Boros card.
Since color pie gripes aren't very good reasons for exile, my vote is for Raptorchan/Azorius (tentatively).
*sigh*
You know what? I am NOT going to defend myself because it would look even more suspicious (and it also can affect any player who will try to do so). Also I think I'd rather be exiled than exile someone else who isn't guilty. So last player, bring it on.
Out-of-Game:
@JuanCu: can we get an official game rule that editing posts is prohibited?
@void_nothing: can we get mod approval for double posting in this thread due to its nature?
Yes, I won't infract anyone for double posting in a CCC&G game that happens to use mafia-style rules. In mafia games multiposting is necessary, therefore that overrides other considerations.
Oh and there's a much higher bar you have to hit in order to get warned for flaming or trolling in a thread like this, just fyi. You're allowed to say mean things as long as it's within the context of the game. Outside the context of the game discussion, though, don't get personal, because I'll have to refer potentially offending posts that go beyond the bounds of the game to senior staff as I'm directly involved here.
Just a suggestion: I think it would make all of our lives easier is we posted our colors with every post. It's hard to keep track of everyone's identity.
Sure, it makes sense that editing is forbidden (other than quick corrections after reading what you posted.)
I'll be checking the thread tomorrow morning (~18 hours.) If all votes are in, I'll advance to next round.
