It's Tokens Month! Next we'll use one of a couple of recent mechanics that created utility, noncreature tokens.
Challenge
Design a card that causes one or more players to create Treasure tokens and/or investigate.
Make sure to include a rarity.
Stay tuned for December's CCL Final Poll. Anyone who votes will receive 2 bonus points for January's CCL!
PLEASE NOTE: This month will NO LONGER use the "mandatory top 3" rule. Critiques and top 3s will each be worth one bonus point per round but it will be possible to score points and advance even without submitting a top 3. This will also be done on a trial basis; future months may once again require top 3s from contestants.
This month's schedule has been slightly modified owing to its late start. Your submissions are due Sunday, January 13th, 23:59 EST.
Schedule
Round 1 — Open to Everyone (January 4th-8th)
Round 2 — Open to Everyone (January 9th–13th)

你好 have you eaten?
I'm a simple Magic player since 1 year ago from China. Now I live in New Jersey.
netn10 - This is a fun little card and I strongly suspect that it could even be common (though for the complexity of switching I get why it wouldn't be). It's not the most exciting thing in the world but it is undeniably very cute.
Hemlock - The fact that this ETBs untapped and instantly can tap for one mana of any color, even though it's only once, makes this overpowered I'm afraid. And the fact that it's nonlegendary might make it all the more so. It's a very cool idea but I think it just needed to ETB tapped to be viable.
Jimmy Groove - A lot of fun flavor stuff going on here, but I think the card might actually be too slow. They don't have to pop the clues so in a lot of games they can play around this timing-wise until they have an answer for the token, which in decks that would draw quickly shouldn't be hard to find. Cool idea, but maybe not quite worthy of mythic.
RaikouRider - This is really all in on clue flavor and synergies. I really have no idea how powerful it would be without playtesting, but my instincts tell me "somewhat". It does a lot of stuff and I think it's very creative and interesting. I'm into it.
Gateways7 - This is interesting. It's very handy for getting clues, almost too handy with getting a clue for each dying creature, including tokens. But the activated ability seems likely to very narrowly be better than just sacrificing clues the normal way. I'm not sure this is card is balanced, even within itself, but I do appreciate what you are going for, especially with the flavor.
Subject16 - This is a flavor win for sure, albeit one that manifests in a weird card, mechanically. Not sure what else there is to say. It might be too slow of an "engine" to ever see play, but I do like looking at it, design-wise.
Reckless Prosecution 1W
Enchantment (Uncommon)
Whenever Reckless Prosecution enters the battlefield or a creature you control dies, investigate. R, Sacrifice a Clue: Exile the top card of your library. You may play that card until the end of the turn. “No, don’t burn the evidence! We need that!”
I feel like this card should be BW, even though the second ability belongs to R. Speaking of that second ability, I find it a bit redundant as you can already sac a Clue to draw a card. As for the first abilityUlvenwald Mysteries did something simlar to this but had a more interesting twist by producing tokens while generating card advantage. Neat design, but nothing really new.
Inspector's Case1WU
Enchantment (Rare)
Whenever a creature dies for the first time each turn, that creature's controller investigates. 2, Sacrifice two clues and an equipment: Exile target creature. Any player may activate this ability. "Old Rustein is the murderer! And he did it with this fork!"
I really like this card flavourfully, but it's just too niche. Sacrificing equipments is something so weirdly appealing and at the same time so counterproductive! I see what you were aiming for and it's awesome, but I'm not gonna fill my deck with durdly equipments just to make this work. So close to be so good!
Question Reality1UU
Enchantment (R)
Flash
When Question Reality enters the battlefield, exile any number of other permanents you own, then investigate that many times.
Whenever you sacrifice a clue, you may put a card exiled with Question Reality onto the battlefield.
What a card! Abusing enters the battlefield effect, protecting anything from removal while also drawing cards? That's crazy good! Maybe a bit too much in fact. Flash definitely break this card. Also, you could tap all of your lands, floating a lot of mana, exile all said lands, sac some clues, getting back those same lands untapped, and draw some more. Whew! Make it nonland permanents, non-Flash and it's ok. Great design, just a bit overpowered.
Mad Constable 2U
Creature--Human (Uncommon)
When Mad Constable enters the battlefield investigate
Sacrifice a clue: swtich target creature's power and toughness until end of turn
1/4
I wish this would switch power and toughness as an additional effect to sacrificing a Clue. As it is, I feel I never want to give up card draw for an effect like that. Also, just "human"? Cool concept, just low power level.
Weregild1BB
World Enchantment (R)
Whenever a nontoken creature dies, its controller creates a colorless Treasure artifact token with “ , Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color.” 2: Sacrifice a creature. Any player may activate this ability. Every soul has value. A set amount.
World Enchantments, nice! A safe, symmetrical design, nothing new nor groundbreaking. It works nonetheless!
Biomechanical Engineering2U
Enchantment (R)
When Biomechanical Engineering enters the battlefield and whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, investigate.
Sacrifice a Clue: Add CC. Spend this mana only to cast artifact spells.
Now, this is something I like to see. Great design with a lot of space to work around and cool flavour. It's just waiting to be broke!
I would like this much more if it could use any non-token artifact rather than just equipment (is a lead piping an equipment?)
Question Reality1UU
Enchantment (R)
Flash
When Question Reality enters the battlefield, exile any number of other permanents you own, then investigate that many times.
Whenever you sacrifice a clue, you may put a card exiled with Question Reality onto the battlefield.
This should really be restricted to non-lands, and even still I think this might need to be bumped up a mana or two. Really cool design!
Mad Constable 2U
Creature--Human (Uncommon)
When Mad Constable enters the battlefield investigate
Sacrifice a clue: swtich target creature's power and toughness until end of turn
1/4
"switch" This feels like it should be at least in part, if not completely, Red.
Weregild1BB
World Enchantment (R)
Whenever a nontoken creature dies, its controller creates a colorless Treasure artifact token with “ , Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color.” 2: Sacrifice a creature. Any player may activate this ability. Every soul has value. A set amount.
had to go briefly re-associate myself with the world supertype after fighting the gut reation to just hate on it. The problem being... I don't actually see the need for it on this card. The sacrifice clause also leaves me a bit lost in terms of flavor of the card, for Weregild I would have loved if you could pay some amount of mana and donate a treasure to a player to destroy one of their creatures.
Biomechanical Engineering2U
Enchantment (R)
When Biomechanical Engineering enters the battlefield and whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, investigate.
Sacrifice a Clue: Add CC. Spend this mana only to cast artifact spells.
This card just feel a little disconnected to me. This should probably be limited to non-token creatures just for safety.
Nephalia ExtortionistUB
Creature - Human Rogue (R)
Menace
Whenever Nephalia Extortionist deals combat damage to a player, that player discards a card. If he or she can't, Investigate. (Create a colorless Clue artifact token with “2, Sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card.”)
1/2
Solid specter design, but feels a little off being the zombie colors for Innistrad tribal.

JamBlock - Busted card. The nightmare that is 'Blink EDH' (a la Roon and Brago) just got a ton worse.
kwanyeegor - Pretty cool. Feels a bit more UR given the details.
