So lots of planes in Magic are based on real historical settings. Theros is ancient Greece, Kamigawa is feudal Japan, and Amonkhet is ancient Egypt, to name a few. For this game you'll make a card based on the previous person's suggestion, then suggest the next historical, real-world culture to base a card on. You can get a bit more specific than that - like "Make a Japanese Samurai" - but for reasons of taste I'm going to request that we stop the timeline at 1900; no contemporary or near-contemporary cultures, in other words. Also remember that Magic fictionalizes everything - Ephara, God of the Polis may be heavily based on Athena but isn't called Athena. But if you get an ancient Greece request, you don't have to put it on Theros, it can be based on whatever canonical or imagined plane you like.
