I would love to see people's ideas of a god for each Shard / Clan and perhaps even a rainbow god. I really started getting into magic during the theros block so the gods have a special place in my heart. Any takers?
I'll try my hand at Grixis to get the ball rolling:
Nefarox, God of Cruelty2UBR
Legendary Enchantment Creature - God [M]
Indestructible
As long as your devotion to blue, black, and red is less than 9, Nefarox isn't a creature
Whenever a nontoken creature dies, target opponent loses 2 life and discards a card at random
[5/7]
Nefarox has ascended into godhood! And brought some shades of cruel ultimatum along with him. Originally thought to allow him to unearth creatures from opponents graveyard but not sure how to implement that without stepping on the toes of Sedris, the Traitor King a little bit.
Krendau, The Enduring One2WBG
Legendary Enchantment Creature - Dragon God (MR)
Indestructable
As long as your devotion to white, black, and green is less than 8, Krendau isn't a creature.
Whenever a creature you control is blocks or becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, put a +1/+1 counter on it and prevent the next 3 damage dealt to it.
3/6
I think 8 is a better On switch than 9 because it covers the difference in cost, but 3-colored-mana cards are much less played than 2-colored-mana ones, and they come down later.
Lalado, Goddess of the Groove3RWU
Legendary Enchantment Creature - God (M)
Indestructible
As long as your devotion to red, white, and blue is less than 8, Lalado isn't a creature.
Whenever you cast a creature spell, untap each other creature you control, then tap each creature you don't control.
6/6
Ulnok, God of Savagery2GUR
Legendary Enchantment Creature - God [M]
Indestructible
As long as your devotion to green, blue, and red is less than 8, Ulnok isn't a creature
If a creature you control has power less than 4, it's power becomes 4 instead
[4/4]
Elspeth, God of Heroes2GWU
Legendary Enchantment Creature - God
Indestructible
As long as your devotion to green, white, and blue is less than 8, Elspeth, God of Heroes is not a creature.
Other creatures you control get +1/+1 and vigilance.
Whenever a creature you control becomes the target of a spell that you control, you may draw a card.
7/6
(Heroes are more red than blue on Theros, but Elspeth spent a lot of time on Bant, so blue is probably a better fit for her. Also, she's an almost strictly better Heliod, which I think is rather appropriate.)
Oh wait, I forgot, I just made a 5-color god recently:
Nyx, God of Eternity1WUBRG
Legendary Enchantment Creature - God (M)
Indestructible
As long as there is not a color that your devotion to is five or greater, Nyx, God of Eternity is not a creature.
Whenever a non-token enchantment enters the battlefield under your control, you may put a token onto the battlefield that is a copy of that enchantment.
8/8
(Urgh, that wording is still awful. Wanted to mix in a reference to Nykthos's emphasis on devotion to a single color, even though Nyx is 5-color, but the wording on devotion is...weird, especially when you're simultaneously trying to specify and generalize. Basically, the condition is supposed to be that you have to have a devotion of 5 to at least one color in order to turn Nyx on.)
(I like the card otherwise, though. After giving it its own shrine, I was disappointed that Nyx never got a divine manifestation (no, Kruphix doesn't count). The card itself can be the headstone of a bonkers Constellation deck, since it triggers those abilities twice - four times if the enchantment being copied has Constellation itself - which seems fitting, given that Constellation is specifically an ability of the Nyxborn.)
Does "As long as your devotion to a single color is less than five, Nyx, God of Eternity, is not a creature" work?
