I know the time limit's out but I figured since you haven't judged yet I'd try to jump in. If it's too late just disregard my card.
Chain Lightning2R Instant
~ deals 3 damage to target player.
You may pay R, if you do, return ~ to its owner's hand instead of putting it in its owner's graveyard.
Okay, let judging begin! Know I said no more entries but since someone submitted one before I judged I may as well let it in.
Lavasmith's Blessing:
This is a really interesting idea for a card. There isn't really anything like this currently in magic (that I can think of anyways). I can see a lot of combos coming from this card, especially in aggro or token decks -- mobbing you with creatures then playing this and attacking. I don't think this is OP though, as it's 5 mana, just the right amount for it. This card seems like it would either be a combo piece or be crap, either way it's a nice card. Well done.
Hot Sauce:
This card reminds me a lot of gut shot. Gut shot doesn't cost anything to play, except not really, because gut shot requires life (or alternitly, mana). This on the other hand, is sort of the opposite. It costs mana, but pays you back with it immediately after playing it. The thing is, one damage spells aren't very effeciant, because at best you are killing a creature with very low toughness, or pinging a player. I dunno if this would see play in even standard burn, despite it basically costing nothing, but it's an interesting concept at least.
Chain Lightning:
First off, there's already a card called Chain Lightning. As for the card itself, I'm not really a huge fan of these types of cards, as they tend to only be fun for you, and not your opponent. One feels powerless when being hit over and over again, with no way to prevent it. This applies to cards like Bloodsoaked Champion and Gravecrawler as well, though with those cards at least you can get rid of them via exile. The biggest problem with this, though, is that not only is the name taken, the idea for this card is taken as well. Check out Hammer of Bogardan. Yes that can hit creature as well but it's a very similar idea. This card is also too good. Hammer of Bogarden is more or less the same to cast, but it takes 5 mana to return it from your graveyard to your hand, plus it can be disposed of via exile. I see what you were trying to do with this card but I dunno how well this card came out.

Your card came up short in a few ways, such as power level, and the fact that something similar already exists. This could potentially be a cool card, but it would need to be more balanced and more different from Hammer of Bogarden.
Next round:
Artifact
Orzhov colored (doesn't necessarily need to be in mana cost, just need to have black and white mana somewhere on card. Can have other colors too.)
Has at least two abilities/effects
Includes somewhere on the card "destroy" or "exile".
COOK AWAY!
Winner gets to judge next round. They may pass priority to the second place person if they do not wish to judge.
Ah, well, I was unaware of the existence of Hammer of Bogardan, better luck next time. Though personally I believe that the right price is somewhere between what I did and Hammer of Bogardan, definitely not 3 mana to cast at Sorcery speed followed by 5 mana for retrieval. Eh, the judge is always right.
Lich's Phylactery3
Artifact - Equipment (R)
When equipped creature dies, you may exile it. If you do, you may return another creature card exiled with Lich's Phylactery to the battlefield.

Yeah, Hammer of Bogarden could definitely stand to be more powerful, though the card you submitted is OP. And better luck next time! You can obviously enter next round.
Lingering ApparitionWB
Creature - Spirit (U)
Haunt (When this creature dies, exile it haunting target creature.)
When the haunted creature dies, return Lingering Apparition to the battlefield.

Belfry GargoyleWB
Artifact Creature - Gargoyle (U)
Flying, lifelink
Whenever you mulligan and Belfry Gargoyle is in your hand, you may exile it.
At the beginning of your upkeep, if Belfry Gargoyle is exiled, you may put it onto the battlefield.

My apologies, I somehow didn't realize you had submitted an entry, doomfish. The final judgment will be up tommorow. Good luck guys! I will take how you did in other rounds into account as well.
Well, I did edit the post, so it didn't show it, but that's why I sent you a pm. ^^

Okay, it's time...to announce the winner! Its 11:30 at night but technically I kept my promise about judging today.
I said I would take all rounds into considerations so let's look at that:
First round: Domineering Sphinx vs Packhunter Whale
Domineering Sphinx turns me off somehow. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool, well designed card but I guess it just seems like it would be insanely unfun to play against, though I guess I'm biased because I don't like creatures that let my opponent steal creatures (though I get why they exist). My vote for this round goes to Packhunter Whale because of that, which seems like an interesting, dynamic card, though it's playability is slightly questionable.
Second round: Lavasmith's Blessing vs Hot Sauce
I prefer Lavasmith's Blessing of the two, as quite frankly, it seems like the funner card. Maybe not to play against (I could see that getting old quickly), but 1 for 1 damage cards always seemed pretty meh to me, no matter what kind of extra effect they have. I don't know how playable Hot Sauce would be, it might be run in sideboard, or as 1 or 2-of in standard burn/RDW. However Lavasmith's Blessingg is a matter of finding a deck that could incorporate such a unusual, but in a good way, card. I could potentially see decks just based on putting out cheap creatures, ramping up to 5, playing this, then swinging for game. Hell, I could even see this card being format defining. It's just a fun card with so many posibilities.
Final round: Lych's Phylactory vs Belfry Gargoyle
Here's where the tides turn. In the first two rounds, I preferred Doomfish's card, but here, I prefer Rudyard's more. By a lot. Lych's Plylactory is a cool card, though nothing particularly special. Kind of surprised something like this isn't already a card. It would definitely see EDH play, though I don't think it would see play in anything else (maybe a couple niche standard decks). However, I have a lot of problems with Belfry Gargoyle. Sure it's creative, I'll give you that, but first off, I don't like the alternate way it can enter. I guess it balances it out if you mulligan down to a low amount of cards, but starting the game with a pretty decent creature out like that is a HUGE advantage, one it is hard to recover from. Having games decided on turn 0 is never fun, and unlike Leyline of Sanctuary, it doesn't at least help combat a major deck type, it just sits there being annoying. In addition, the wording means if your opponent Path to Exiles it then guess what? You can cast it next turn anyways. I'm a firm believer that if an opponent exiles on of your cards like stable removal (i.e. Return the card under the owner's control at the end of the turn) it should stay there, that's why it's the exile zone and not the graveyard.

Rudyard
Your card for the final round was actually significantly better then Doomfish's, however it was the fact that in none of the rounds you produced a card that wowed me that causes your elimination.
That means, Doomfish, you are the winner! You can start a new thread and host next round, or you can pass to Rudyard. Your choice, though I have to say, I had fun hosting this.
Well, that seems hardly fair, but I take it.
I better open up a new thread, then we can just continue in there from now on.
As soon as I find the time to do so.
