3x Mountain (tapped)
1x Rage Reflection
1x Primal Rage
Your Opponent's Library
99x Colossal Might Your opponent has no cards in hand and has a Heartless Hidetsugu in their graveyard.
Your Resources
Your Battlefield
1x Your Commander (See restrictions!)
7x Command Tower Your Library
20x Command Tower You have no cards in hand and have an Expedition Map in your graveyard.
If your commander is 3, 4, or 5 colored:
The card you design can't gain you life or prevent damage. If your commander is monocolored or colorless:
You start the game off with Herbal Poultice on the battlefield. If your commander is colorless:
You start off the game with Darksteel Citadels instead of Command Towers. If your commander's converted mana cost is 7 or greater:
Your commander starts the game off in the command zone, not cast yet this game (and thus will not cost 2 more to cast the first time). If your commander's converted mana cost is 4 or less:
Your commander starts the game off equipped with Leonin Bola.
It is your opponent's turn, first main phase. You must survive their attack this turn and be in a position to win before they can kill you with Stangg beats. You may do one of the following:
Step 1 is to block one of Stangg or twin with Karn, who will live due to being 0/8. This leaves me at 4 life.
Starting in my hand or library doesn't matter, since I'll draw into it on my turn.
Surge Reactor9
Artifact (U)
Affinity for artifacts
Artifact creatures you control get +1/+1.
I cast this for free, then pass the turn with 7 mana up.
On his turn, I block Stangg with Karn and 2 animated lands and block the twin with the Surge Reactor and 1 animated land (4 mana tapped).
-If he casts Colossal Might on the twin, I tap the three animated lands to activate Herbal Poultice targeting the Reactor, which will be large enough to survive the first strike damage and will kill it during regular strike damage and will regenerate. A total of 11 damage will be absorbed by the Reactor and the land, leaving me at 1. Stangg will be sacrificed and my opponent will be unable to recast it.
-If he casts Colossal Might on Stangg, I tap the three animated lands to activate Herbal Poultice targeting Karn. Karn and the three lands will absorb 11 of the 14 damage, leaving me at 1. The animated reactor will survive with 6 damage marked on it and kill the twin during the regular combat damage step. Stangg will be sacrificed and my opponent will be unable to cast it.
On my turn, I animate the Reactor and attack with it, hitting them for 10 and killing them.
Arrester of New Prahv4WW
Creature- Human Soldier (Uncommon)
Vigilance, Flash
When Arrester of New Prahv enters the battlefield, exile one or two target creatures an opponent controls until Arrester of New Prahv leaves the battlefield. (Those creatures return under their owner's control.)
Mind ManagementU
Sorcery (U)
Target opponent reveals the top of his library until he reveals a nonland card. That opponent puts that card and all cards with the same name as that card in their deck into the graveyard, then puts all lands back into their deck, and shuffles their deck.
Nin COULD just blast one of the Stanky Stangg's with her powers and swing 10 turns for the kill, but that wouldn't be any fun, would it? Dinner time isn't fun unless everyone's bleeding a bit afterwards - let's play with our food. Nin taps and unattaches the Leonin Bola to tap Token Stangg before combat, then once he declares attackers, she casts:
Owlbear Grappler4UU
Creature - Bear Bird (U)
Flash
When Owlbear Grappler enters the battlefield, tap target creature an opponent controls. It doesn’t untap during its controller’s untap step and can't attack or block for as long as you control Owlbear Grappler.
4/2
She locks down the attacking Nontoken Stangg. On her turn she re-equips the Bola and then that's pretty much game - she keeps using the Bola on Token Stangg before Stangg's combat step and beats him out of the game with an Owlbear in three turns.
If only there could exist a card that cost two mana that could draw me 5 cards... GAH!
Backbiter3BR
Instant (R)
Until end of turn, if a creature would deal damage it deals that much damage to itself instead. "All should feel the wondrous cleansing of self flagellation."
-Cardinal Balipsi
Cast Backbiter, watch them both die, and freely wander over and beat them down, since they certainly can't be recasted.
"Twin brothers, eh?" Cao Cao smirked. "This reminds me of Liu Bei and his annoying brethren. Let's hope that you are easier to topple."
Flourishing his prized sword, he took an aggressive stance.
Reins of Blood 3B
Instant (U)
As an additional cost to cast ~ from your hand, sacrifice a creature.
Gain control of target creature an opponent controls until end of turn. That creature gains haste. At the beginning of the end step, sacrifice it.
I cast Reins of Blood, saccing Cao Cao, Lord of Wei in the process, thus taking Stangg. Stangg blocks his twin, dying in the process, which in turn also kills the twin. On the next turn, I cast Cao Cao from the Command Zone and proceed to beat my opponent up until his life total reaches zero.
"Alas, your close bonds were your downfall", said Cao Cao, a hint of lament in his voice. "Let us hope that my own children back home will not descend into the same depths of brotherly hatred."
Magebane Rogue3UU
Creature - Merfolk Rogue (R)
When ~ enters the battlefield, you may gain control of target enchantment. If it's an Aura you may attach it to ~.
4/3
1. Cast it on Rage Reflection.
2. That's it. Stangg cannot win, because when he attacks, both Stanggs will die to my double strikers.
Just to be certain, Stangg has already been cast from the command zone at least once, correct?
EDIT: I'm just going to assume yes.
Æther Magnet 1UR
Instant [C]
Gain control of target enchantment
until end of turn. Velkor never expected his Blanchwood
Armor would turn into nothing more
than leaves in the wind.
Nekusar blocks Stangg, and I cast Æther Magnet on Rage Reflection. Nekusar now has Double strike and kills Stangg and his twin vanishes. I take 3 damage. I begin the 3 turn process of pinging him for 2 damage with Nekusar during the combat step and 2 damage from Nekusar during his draw step. He draws no more land and thus cannot recast Stangg. All the Colossal Might in the world does nothing to comfort him.
Riftskipper1WW
Creature — Human Soldier (R)
Flying 1WW, Exile Riftskipper: Exile another target creature. Return Riftskipper and that card to the battlefield under their owner’s control at the beginning of the next end step.
2/2
Throw some balls at Stangg 1 and take 6 from Stangg 2. Pianna's spaceman pal shows Stangg Token the world, shining, shimmering, splendid. He likes it so much he never comes back, and Card Stangg sacrifices himself out of sadness.
DuomortemBB
Instant (R)
Destroy target nontoken creature and target token creature. They can't be regenerated. Whether it has a soul or not, Nergal does not discern, nor does he care.
Couple's Getaway2WW
Instant {U}
Exile two target creatures controlled by the same player. That player gains life equal to the creatures' combined toughness.
"Honey! Pack your bags!"
(From the tropical island set)
Hope Stangg and his twin enjoy the beach. I kill him over 9 turns.
Michiko's Condescension1WW
Instant (R)
Choose one — If a source would deal 2 or more damage this turn, it deals 1 damage instead; or whenever a creature deals damage to you this turn, put that creature on the bottom of its owner's library.
Entwine 1WW
I'll cast Michiko's Condescension before combat damage, and let them hit me for two. My abilities trigger, sending Stangg and his twin to the bottom of their library and forcing two permanents to be sacrificed. With the commanders tucked away, I'll swing over the next few turns with Michiko and win.
Free the Spirit3WW
Instant (R)
Gain control of target noncreature, non-Aura enchantment. That enchantment becomes a Spirit creature with power and toughness each equal to its converted mana cost. It's still an enchantment.
I free the Rage Reflection, getting a 6/6 double striker. I tap down the twin with the Bola and the Rage Reflection blocks and kills Stangg, then we make short work of his life total.
Aura Crush1RG
Instant (U)
Destroy target enchantment. Deal X damage to target creature, where X is that enchantment's converted mana cost. Your feeble magics will be crushed like a goblin underfoot of a giant.
Step 1: Crush Rage Reflection and deal 6 damage to Stangg 1, destroying him
Step 2: When he dies, Stangg 2 get's exiled
Stop:Hammer Time!
The Challenge "You twins knew war equally well, and now you two shall know failure just as much," you say bemusedly as the twins fall, their limp bodies hitting the floor at the same time. The damage from the battle obliterated the gate; you step through it with ease. The city is quite empty despite its enormity; you can't help but feel as though the emperor's killer had been waiting for you for a long time.
"You have been successful for quite a while now," you hear from behind you as your next opponent steps out from the shadows, "and I do not plan on allowing those victories to continue."
You turn and a hooded figure stands there menacingly with a counterspell buzzing in its hand. One detail you notice about it, however, are its bloodshot eyes and writhing body — the being looks quite insane. Slightly behind it is a cackling figure, plugging away at a buzzing device. You notice cathodes on the body of the hooded individual, and suddenly you realize you're in for a fight quite different than what you're used to.
Opponent's resources
Your Opponent's Battlefield
1x Arcanis the Omnipotent (Their commander; affected by summoning sickness)
1x Laboratory Maniac, enchanted with Diplomatic Immunity
6x Island (tapped)
6x Island (untapped) Your opponent has no cards in library. They have a Mindbreak Trap in hand and 84 islands in their graveyard.
If your commander is 3, 4, or 5 colored: Your opponent's islands are all untapped. If your commander is monocolored or colorless: Instead of being in your graveyard, the Whispersilk Cloak is on the battlefield equipped to your commander. If your commander is colorless: Your lands are Darksteel Citadels. (Just for you, Cythare.)
Note: Since no players have a commander with a CMC of 7 or greater, I'm going to stop doing that portion of the drawbacks. If your commander's converted mana cost is 4 or less: You start the game off with a Vedalkern Orrery.
It is your turn, first main phase. Your opponent will cast Mindbreak Trap on the first spell you cast that it can effect. You need to kill your opponent this turn or stop them from winning with Laboratory Maniac. You may do one of the following:
Design a card that's in your hand.
Design a card that's in your graveyard.
Design a card that's on top of your library.
Flamingo Shui Rules
There will be 10 rounds.
After seven days, a new challenge will be put up for submissions, and a public poll will be put up for the previous round.
Scoring is cumulative over the game (the total of all votes received in polls over the month).
You must vote for any number of entries, but don't vote for every entry! It's a waste of everyone's time, including yours.
You can join in at any time, and it's fine if you miss a round — you'll just lose out of points for that round.
I think maybe it's the list tag that's just chilling there.
Loaming Hovel
Land (U)
When Loaming Hovel enters the battlefield, each player shuffles five cards from his or her graveyard into his or her library. t: Add 1 to your mana pool.
Play this land. Opponent shuffles five Islands into his library. I attack for 4 commander damage, putting him at 17 commander damage.
On his turn, he draws a card, and then can draw 3 more with Arcanis, leaving one in his library.
On my next turn, I attack him for 4 more commander damage, putting him at 21 commander damage and winning the game.
Sudden Eruption 4RR
Sorcery [R]
Split second
Exile cards from the top of your
library until you exile a nonland card.
Sudden Eruption deals damage equal
to the number of cards exiled this
way to each creature.
I cast this, dealing 93(!) damage to each creature. I end my turn. They draw nothing and go mad. Victory. I also draw nothing on my next turn and go mad, but I've already won by that point.
Chamber of Reincarnation
Land (U) t: Add 1 to your mana pool. 1GU, t, Sacrifice Chamber of Reincarnation: Shuffle Chamber of Reincarnation and any number of target cards in graveyards into their owner's libraries.
Play Chamber. Sac Chamber. Shuffle in Arcanis's graveyard and my whispersilk cloak. There is no way they can win before I ooze them to death.
Turn the Hourglass
Sorcery (R)
Split second
Each player shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library. Each player's life total becomes 20. "All paths lead to the same place. Some are longer than others."
Suddenly we are young again just like the old people in Cocoon. I proceed to beat Arcanis mercilessly, winning with commander damage two turns later.
Starborn Hellion3RR
Creature - Hellion (R)
Haste
When you cast Starborn Hellion, it deals 3 damage to each creature. The sky around its descent burns even miles away.
3/3
Weight of Regret3WW
Instant (R)
Split second
Put target creature on top of its owner's library. Then put any number of target cards from that player's graveyard on top of his or her library in any order. The guilt of past deeds is inescapable.
I'l cast this on Arcanis and bury him under 84 islands, then proceed to attack with Michiko turn after turn until I win.
Nin's gonna have to pull some dirty tricks to get this freakish pair out of her way. (She's into kinky torture stuff but this "electrode mind control" thing is tacky. No artistic sensibility.)
Lahar Elemental2RR
Creature - Elemental (R)
Haste
When Lahar Elemental enters the battlefield, it deals 1 damage to each other creature without flying and each player sacrifices a land.
Cycling 3RRR
When you cycle Lahar Elemental, it deals 2 damage to each creature without flying and each player sacrifices two lands.
4/3
You can't counter an activated ability with your foolish traps. Cycling go! Nin and Laboratory Maniac get swept away, leaving Arcanis without a win condition - and now he's worked himself straight into a lose condition.
Volcanism1RRG
Creature - Elemental Incarnation (R)
~ can't be countered.
Haste, Trample
When ~ dies, each player puts all lands in his or her graveyard onto the battlefield under his or her control, then each player is dealt damage equal to the number of lands he or she controls.
Evoke 3RRG
3/3
Fire! I evoke Volcanism and take 6 damage, my foe burning in his 96.
