Man, I seriously thought I wouldn't make it! If there was someone capable of stopping my triumphant return, I knew that would be you, Altaurus, and I probably won only because you didn't post a card for two days. Well played.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
Could I get some help with the reminder text for my submission today? I want to make it clear to players that they can't pay the buyback cost by sacrificing the creature they steal, that the creature sacrificed must be under their control as they cast the spell. What's the least confusing way of saying that?
And where should the reminder text go: all in one group at the end coupled with the "This effect lasts indefinitely" part, or broken up into two lines (one after the buyback and one after the effect)?
Note on Noatz's Entwine card today: The order of your abilities is super-important for Entwine cards. Fighting first then gaining deathtouch doesn't do what you want it to do.

Yeah, I saw that but I voted for it anyway. It would be a really reasonable common hybrid removal spell, so I pretended it was written appropriately.
I really liked the effect of Maokun's card today, but I couldn't vote for it as I think its too good at :1mana::symg::symg:. IMO it should cost at least more, since its giving big card advantage in green, almost like a Phyrexian Arena with no drawback.
Thanks! However, I think you underestimate how hard is to actually meet the "draw a card" requirement and the risk you get yourself into by emptying your hard onto the battlefield while trying. Only the quickest decks (example: elves) will consistently and rapidly fulfill that requirement and those decks will think twice about wasting their third turn casting a non-creature spell that doesn't have immediate effect. More often than not, this card will be just a constant supply of chump blockers/sac fodder and maybe, in the late game, will draw one or two cards depending on how quickly the opponents find their sweepers.
Definitely powerful (but not broken) at 3 CMC. Almost unplayable at 4 CMC, in my opinion.

"Not good enough" hasn't really stopped cards that are simple from being printed. Check out any of the basic effects blue get that decreases power. Most of them are only remotely playable in limited, not very popular anyway and yet they're solidly part of the colour.
There isn't even one from way back in the game when they did basically whatever. No creature that does it or anything at all. The total lack of this mechanic is weird to me.
The closest is Planar Birth. It is a mechanic that they generally don't seem to use.

It's generally worse than looting effects are (as you're only getting one card out of three).
And I'm not sure repeatable "self-mill for 3" warrants being rare, let alone mythic. (And that's the only other use for this.)
Note: your opponent can, and probably should, randomize the piles; and putting no objects into a pile is generally a bad choice on your opponent's part. It's a valid option, yes, but in general the correct play on your opponent's part... is to take the three cards, put one into each of the three piles, and then engaging in the traditional "can you follow the card", etc.
Inevitably-single-card "piles" is the weirdest bit of technically-correct templating I have probably ever seen.
Whatever, I still really like Prophetic Grifter. Things I also like: Planar Birth and the old, weird, vaguely dumb paradigm of white control it represented.

Complexity and flashiness factor into rarity about as much as power level.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
I'm still not convinced this is complex enough to warrant being a rare. It's definitely not flashy enough to be rare, and its power level is low enough that it almost warrants being common.

Uncommon is fine because it feels similar to the new thing that is Tavern Swindler, but something that requires that much actual work out of both players would never pass muster as a common.

Well, yeah. (And even boiling it down to "Reveal the top three cards of your library. Name a card, then choose one of the revealed cards at random. If it's the named card, put it into your hand. Then put each other card revealed this way into your graveyard.", as was suggested on IRC earlier... that's too damn wordy for common.)
Like I've been implying all along, I'm pretty happy with it at uncommon.

I believe my theme will be the Mneor block.Edit: Nah, it was never fleshed out enough. I think I'll just spend the month mixing non-evergreen keywords.
Is the DCC still awarding trophies?

You may sacrifice a creature as you cast this spell. If you do, return it to your hand rather than put it into your graveyard when it resolves.
I'd use that as well as the indefinite-duration reminder text you used.

Still, I don't let that get me down.
Ashamed of posts from years ago.
Also, it's really hard to catch up with Tahn when he keeps posting such good cards and making me have to vote for him D:

Now look at the name of the card again.
